I think it shows these guys have big money to invest in the West Midlands (£1.3bn so I read). I think they see the acquisition of the football club as a way to gain credibility in the City and surrounding communities. The success of said football club would increase their standing locally, bear in mind in Asian culture, loss of face is a major no no.

I wonder as it seems the Byng and Haskell consortiums do not appear to have clashing business interests, whether they could find common ground to overcome the big initial hurdle which is to get rid of SISU. I think it will require someone to write a cheque out with a lot of 0's on the end to do this.

What is also interesting is that the big players in the situation (JS for SISU, not Fisher he's employed by a big player, the Administrator, the Football League and the 2 known bidders have been relatively quiet this last week. Was there any reason given for the extension of the deadline ? It would not surprise me if there have been contacts or talks going on behind the scenes, the 2 known bidders are extremely rich, successful business people who didn't get where they are by waiting for things to happen, they make them happen.

Well, let's hope so, and we can get positive news within a week or so.

It's a pretty good plan

Putting links into the HS2 meets all the Governments current requirements.

Investing in the railway structure a major Government target but at the same time making Hs2 more accessible to Warwickshire weakening some of the Powerful Warwickshire lobbyists against HS2.

Unfortunately the rail plan is that good obtaining the Ricoh may just become an icing on the cake factor.

I would hope that the reason for the extension is exactly for the same reason as you pose Roger.

Having the Haskell Consortium and The Byng Bidders combine would work in a lot of cases.

Think of the shear amount of money they would A) have at their disposal, B) Be able to put into the club and C) Put into the community and Country as a whole.

Also if they get the surrounding area developed (hotels, more shopping, big industrial stuff (HUWAE or whatever they're called) plus whatever else), get the rail line finished AND get the club successful again (however long that would take) then they are looking at a big return in profits.

No doubt SISU would be more than willing to step aside (or at least become a minor associate with a small share) and we can really get this club (and the City) going again!

This scenario is too exciting to contemplate, and as such, I refuse to contemplate it, and will continue to believe that SISU will carry on killing our Club forever more until it 100% official that they have fucked off. Even then I'll still be suspicious that they haven't got some evil plan up their sleeve.

I think they were offered a future profit deal before and orange boy scuppered it after saying this will work then he discovered he would not be chairman.

I believe so. When the whole story comes out i think that orange prick Duleiu will be shown up for the twat he was and put our club not only in the third division but back financially years.

So true the light at the end of our tunnel has never been sunshine, without fail it's always been a train ready to squash us into the tracks.

A high speed train with excellent links to the wider rail network though, so not all bad.

Hauwei is not a confirmed name in the mix (unless I'm mistaken it was a speculative post on this forum).
The best option IMO is 1 owner of the club, the same owner of the stadium...with all revenue streams. SISU's vision really...but there - in the RICOH. The stadium naming rights & kit sponsorship deals can be comfortably dealt with as investment & revenue that way, hence well within FFP. Admittedly for us - a consortium would make sense. Whether that means room for PH4 or a.n.other who knows?
Just praying for a positive outcome for us!

As mentioned, the above would be too good to be true.

Even if it did happen, there'd be a couple of arseholes I can think of posting on here that it'll all go horribly wrong.

This is my preferred scenario. They have not had much publicity and are new brushes ready to sweep clean..

Just out of interest....Which bidder will bring more to the table? Ain organisation with aspirations to develop in to european markets, develop the local area, install a rail network structure, have a community inclusion strategy, has 1.3 bn in wealth or Joe Elliot/ Hoffman and Haskell who have no significant wealth unless they do what Man Utd owners did. If change is going to happen the Byng bid is the one that actually adds value and could give SISU an exit if it the purchase of SISU's holding is spread over a number of years.

Byng is smart

You fund all the linking rail lines throughout Warwickshire into Birmingham Airport knowing Birmingham Airport has to expand and become one of three ports linking into HS2.

He makes a killing by taking control of the midlands.

Take the football club you already get one section.

Very very shrewd. They will make millions and millions.

... and they could probably buy Coventry City (Holdings) Limited and pay off all it's debts with the small change out of its back pocket -- small price to pay for such an opportunity for them.

And the Ricoh Sponsorship, the name of the new stations and the new terminal at Birmingham. Their name would be everywhere in the face of all the business people flying into the Birmingham heading to London.

I hope they are prepared to negotiate with SISU ; ) Would the fans come back....Fair chance providing they have a ticket policy that fills the ground. Even if it is only for a couple of years. I recall SISU's experiment with season tickets when that man from Derby came here (Clouting?) and implemented a price reduction. I think this would have worked if it was anyone but SISU. The team needs to pull the crowd in somehow.

Development of the Ricoh area alongside the expansion of the airport etc. would be a nice opportunity as well.

Can't see any deal without Sisu involvement though, at best a timed buyout or something similar.

Yep, but will people buy in to that or will #notonepennymore jeopardise that kind of deal?

It is not the Ricoh or the station that attracts them. It is all about influencing the right people to get a foothold in the W Midlands.

Yep and if the Governments plan goes ahead Birmingham will become the gateway to the emerging Sith American states doing business in London.

This company wants to be all over them when they arrive.

I think HS2 is a complete waste of time so I don't know where to stand on this!

It is the Ricoh that attracts them. As it will have its own Station. They will not be interested in CCFC at Brandon.

Like you said it's the Ricoh not ccfc that interests them, they may still go ahead without ccfc or any intention of having a football club there. .

It's the station and the infrastructure owning the Ricoh and CCFC would be icing on the cake.
