Sorry if this has already been posted..

COVENTRY
City wish to state that they have had a double verbal agreement that Marlon King will be a Sky Blues player next season.

Chairman Ken Dulieu has a verbal confirmation from Marlon's friend and advisor while the player has also told manager Andy Thorn that he is looking forward to next season at the Ricoh Arena and is delighted to remain with the club.

The formalities of the deal will be concluded when Marlon returns from his summer holiday and we hope he will be a key member of Andy's squad for the coming season.

The club is aware of reports to the contrary but they are either ill-informed or inaccurate.

There's nothing to worry about. It's pretty much common knowledge that King's agent is a prick. He was still trying to promote him when he had signed for us previously. I was quite confident that he would stay but after yesterday I am convinced that he still be a City player come the end of the transfer window :D

Fantastic, they wouldn't have said this unless it was true. To me it looks like the result of feedback from Brody following his engagement with fans on Twitter-after becoming aware of our concerns he's sorted it out and the club have issued a statement. This is the sort of level of communication we only dreamt of before now.

I've been entirely cynical about SISU and Brody up to this point. But he may have just proved me wrong. Now wheres me hat, it's lunchtime.:pimp:

Who was worried?

He's the best player we've had in the championship and the best player a whole generation of fans have seen. So i'm glad it's all been sorted out apart from the formality of signing a contract when he gets back from his hols.

IN THORN WE TRUST!

Funny thing is, the quote from Finnigan today says hes not his agent, hes a feiend. Firstly, why wud he ask a 'friend' to make a statement on his behalf in his absence?? And secondly, isnt this the same guy who was seeking attention from the press, claiming he was Kings agent, when we were faffing about over King in the first place?? The bloke sounds like a prized prick imo. Worse than Mifsuds 'advisors' but atleast Marlon seems to have the balls to make his own mind up!

I'm just worried this well end up being a media stunt.. Because now IF there are any other interested clubs they are likely to panic and offer a contract when he is away.

Hope it all gets done and dusted soon. King can then clear his head for pre season and get his striking boots on.

More Bullsiht...

Picked from CovMad...
Tony Finnegan is claiming that Marlon King instructed him to put out a statement yesterday saying nothing had been agreed with Coventry City,
Finnegan, a former Crystal Palace, Blackburn and Swindon player when questoned by the CT refused to confirm if he was actually King's agent or confirm if he had been involved in the contract talks with the Sky Blues.
Speaking to the CT, Finnegan said: “Marlon called me up and asked me to put that statement out.
“I don’t want to go into this but I am his friend and advisor and Marlon has asked me put that out.
“Read that statement, what it says is the truth. It is not me trying to be tricky.”
He also added: “The club know what they have to do.”
Coventry City maintained in a statement issued last night that they have a verbal agreement from King and his advisor that he will be staying at the Sky Blues.

If you ask me (which nobody ever does) Marlon needs to come out himself and confirm to the fans. I appreciate he is on holiday but a direct quote would clear it all up unless it is indeed all rhubarb!

Andy and Ken should get on the next plane out of the country and get the contract signed today in the flesh.
If he had agreed too then there are ways to get the contract to him

I once had a contract sent to me in Gozo - I was staying at Villa Santa Lucia - the damn contract ended up in the Caribbean, before eventually reaching me back home in Cov 2 months later.

you do wonder dont you.

I we had to pull out all of the stops to get him to sign, surely a couple of plane tickets for a couple of the managemnet team to fly out and get his signature isnt the end of the world.

Its not as if Delieu isnt regularly on his travels. Surely it wouldnt take much to take a d-tour on his way from England to Portugal?? Or as mentioned, spend a little on a flight for two club reps to go and pay him a visit. Atleast if we done it this way, we wouldnt have his interfering 'agent/friend/rep (and all the other names Finnigan calls himself amongst the ones us City fans could call him)' over there!

He May have already signed an agreement, he has verbally agreed to the contract, he would have seen a contract in order to agree it in the first place.

I do not think there will be massive interest from other clubs given his recent past and also the fact he is getting on a bit.. It is true the Cov fans have taken to him, he seems to be playing well and scoring... why would he want to put himself through a load of stress when he is happy here.

Remember he must have had quite a few dark days in Prision mulling over his career and thought that was it, (especially after what the wigan chairman said of him) so to feel wanted and in a settled place for him to play and rebuild what is left of his career with NO PRESSURE AT COV may be worth a lot more than a few extra grand a week when he must be a millionaire anyway.

Just my thoughts guys and opinion on why he has said he wants to stay.
