i have allways said, the biggest factor with MK is his relationship with the fans.i am sure he doesnt wish to open up the abuse to his family again. he is settled and can just play football again, why up root and start trying to settle again?

Typical Telegraph scaremongering, probably just saw the rumour on here that he was at St Andrews and decided to make a stroy from it

could be some truth to it

kings agent has alerted clubs to him, maybe he will make marlon think that cov are trying to back him into a corner?

or maybe marlon thinks that anway?

cant beleive the official website posted a "verbal" agreement.

I think it would be silly to ignore that he would be not interested in any other club but hopefully he is a man of his word.

My first post in a while,i cant believe the club announced a verbal agreement on its official website,i've never know anybody to do that before, looks like it could end up being quite embarrassing.
No matter what anybody says about us giving him a deal after his release and how much he appriciates all the fans,if Birmingham offer him more money then he's surely going to go!!...thats if there rumored intrest is true, theres been alot of debate but at the end of the day the club should never of announced a verbal agreement!!!!!

Why? If he has stated to KD and AT that he is staying, why shouldn't the club announce it.
It isn't just about the money with him either, he will no doubt be offered good/better money elsewhere. He has to think about his Rep and the baggage going to a new club would bring, his wfe has stood by him, if he felt she would be reading all negative stories again he isn't gonna put her through that.IMO

trevor, will aggree to dissagree. I think Happiness and settled family life are more important to Marlon than money now. (lets hope ha-ha) :claping hands:

shouldn't make phone calls after a few beers whilst on Holiday. Hope he signs but his agent appears to be angling for a little more lolly.

I think you might find that Finnigan is not Marlons agent, just a friend he does not hold Kings madate and therefore cannot enter into any talks with clubs regards King and contract. But in saying this i would not be shocked if King has heard or spoke to Brum about going there so although still not convinced MK will sign for us, i would not take any notice of Finnigan!!!!.

Call me cynical but to announce a verbal agreement for King on the same day that the new kit was released was a huge coincidence. Maybe its me just being too much of a negative person or having seen too many similar marketing stunts in the past.

I'll believe King has signed when his signature is on the new contract and not before - I hope he does and I do believe that he would prefer to stay as he's settled.

thorn had told everyone he wanted the job in interviews etc, king has not,not straight from his mouth anyway

this is down to the moaning SISU out fans who want to know ins and outs of every players contracts and transfer fees etc

pathetic.

MK is right to check out all his options - and whilst he hasnt signed is entitled to do so. You cant blame CCFC & AT being excited by it. Nor would they say without the conversation being had, however what was said and what was heard might differ.

Best advice i can give is to wait and see ..... I believe things at CCFC when they have actually happened

As ive said previously if Birmingham or whoever offer more money then he wont sign,a few thousand here and there might not make uch difference to Beckham and Messi etc but it does to a championship player, what if another club also offers him a 3 year deal,do we realy believe that he'd sign a 2 year deal on less money just because some people think he owes us something??

They do have the lure of European football. Either way at present he is still a Coventry player and the club have said that he will be a Coventry player next season. It would make Thorn look a fool as its his quote that was in the paper. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of Thorn :p

Really? Well let's hope he doesn't read this board then because if those people who he wants to play for because they have treated him well are ready to jump on him before the guy has even said that he doesn't want to sign, well it might be the kind of thing to help him reconsider. He has kept things in house, so until we have an official decision, any failure to land him can only be directed at the club for going public.

Tbh I never thought we had a chance of keeping him and thought Blues a very viable option, so if he remains I'm more than happy, but I just wish we had kept things under wraps until it's finalised because of things like this.

More rumours - http://www.coventrycity-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/has_kings_agent_been_to_birmingham_680453/index.shtml

Rumours abound that Marlon King's agent has been trying to get the Coventry City striker a deal elsewhere.

The CT have already said today that they understand that Birmingham have expressed an interest in talking to the 31 year old and now there are rumours that King's agent has been in Birmingham on Friday and they have agreed to sign King.

One rumour which has already sprung up from a Birmingham City supporter on-line is that "Birmingham have agreed to sign two players, one was from Cardiff which they "thought" was Bothroyd the other was Marlon King.

It was alleged that Marlon's agent had been at BCFC on that same day finalising the agreement but it had been stressed by BCFC that they very much wanted to keep it quiet although that obviously failed. The person added that the agent had done all of the negoiations whilst Marlon was on holiday"

Coventry City said on Friday that they have had verbal agreements from King and a representative that he would be joining the Sky Blues when he returned from holiday.

Do we know when matters wil be concluded? When is marlon set to return to the UK?

The thing that baffles me, is that if Marlon is happy with the contract put in front of him. This could be sent to his holiday destination and signed by him there and then. A contract is not a deed, so it simply needs Marlon's signature.

Ah this is just speculation from the internet that has been published. Usually rumours are all the papers have to go on until something has been announced, it will just be taken from source to source. I wouldn't be too worried. Although it crossed my mind... What if this verbal agreement makes other teams who previously were sceptical about the reception King would get think oh crap we might miss out here and put a rushed bid in :/

I can't believe how stupid we could end up looking. I'm already wanting a hole to swallow me up at work as some of the guys I work with are Blues fans. Why oh why can things as a Cov Fan be straight forward?

I wish people would stop saying "send him a contract to sign on holiday"! Let him have his 2 weeks relaxing and don't hassle him. If someone kept hassling me to sign a contract while I'm trying to relax and get away from home I'd tell them to do one.
