Birmingham in for king... (5 Viewers)

He came to us via a prison cell. he was given a chance against public opinion that even split the clubs fans and irritated public officials too!

The fans gave him a fair crack of the whip and he responded well overall with some excellent performances and signs that he can be a very good player for this level.

He has managed with the help of one football club taking a chance on him to rectify both his career and his future.

Does he owe us one? You're dam right he does!
Does he want to go off and play for a bit more cash at a club where he will have more competition for his place and no guarantees of success? Does he wish to re-live the past through the eyes of more disgruntled fans at another club quite so soon while his reputation still precedes him? Doubt it.

Has a Premiership club come in for him? No.

Would he like to play under Thorn's 4-3-3 system and enjoy the probability of a 20+ goal season? Yes probably.

Would you phone the manager and tell him you will sign the papers when you get back from holiday and were looking forward to the new season and then not mean it? I doubt that. His reputation would suffer and his 'honour' would be in question all over again.

So for me the likelihood is there are 'advisor's' and 'agents' playing games to see if they could just talk up a ridiculously lucrative offer from someone that may make King turn tail and risk all he has achieved over the last 12 months for himself and his family for the chance of a better short term pay day without guarantee of success and a pay day for the agent!

These agents are blood hounds and King would be advised to keep an arms length from all of them and appreciate what he has made for himself, get his head down, score 20+ goals on a two year contract and just maybe hope that will attract the bigger boys in January or next close season. If that does not come then be grateful that your £10 - 15 grand a week is money you may never have had the opportunity to realise less than 12 months ago.

And incidentally a verbal agreement is in fact a 'contract' under law and you can be held accountable to it. I have no reason to disbelieve Andy Thorn's comments about the call and so I firmly believe (as does he) that King will sign the paperwork on his return.
AT is planning his strategies for the season ahead and Marlon would have been aware of that. What kind of guy would say yes in a call only to reverse that decision and get any future respect? Should he do so I can't begin to imagine the abuse he would get again with most people who backed him now turning against him and all his past 'indiscretions' would be highlighted again for all his family to endure once more...

paxman may i just say this is the most sensible and accurate account of what is going on. if he does not sign it is he and his agents who look stupid . the only crime the club has made is trying to keep us up to speed something many fans moan about all the time.

After the initial 'get in there, he's going to sign a contract with us!' i was a bit worried that it was 'only' verbally agreed, and will probably only beleive it when he's in the line up (no pun intended) come August, but it's got to be good news aint it.

If we hadn't been told this no doubt there would be moans about the club keeping us in the dark, lack of info coming out of the club etc....

I remember (and god knows why) that when Paul Jewell left Wigan, Whelan was all, 'he's given me his word he wants a bit of time out of the game and hasn't got another club lined up' etc, so as to make Jewell keep his word a bit more perhaps as his integrity (i know there aint much of it in the game) would be in question if he had walked straight into another job, so lets hope Thorns comments concentrate the mind of Kings money grabbing ba.... sorry, Kings agent, to get the deal signed when he returns from his hols.

And yeah, you'd like to think that King would like to repay the faith and support shown in him by the club and fans when knowone would take a gamble on him...

My sentiments exactly, paxman.

This is an opportunity for marlon to demonstrate an improved character, by repaying those who showed faith in his desire to turn the corner.

Why? If he has stated to KD and AT that he is staying, why shouldn't the club announce it.

Two words (albeit we were better off that time round).......Francis Jeffers. We 'agreed' to sign him, club made it public and bam, he ends up on someone else's books (normally think of things straight away but again the club he went to escapes me. Was it Everton?? Or was he leaving Everton??'

Thinking about it, anyone think CET use this forum for their stories?? As there is a poster on here who insisted King was in Brum the other day??
This is what I thought at first when I viewed the article.
Either A) The guy is a wum and the telegraph used it just to make a story, this story then gets posted on other rumour sites/forums/papers and the rumour becomes even bigger
or B) The guy actually knew information we didn't know

I like to think it is A :)

kg82 spot on I'd be a bit peed off if they pestered me on holiday and didn't accept my word that I would sign. Paxman II also agree with you, I think he does owe us but typical agent vulture scum tactics.

It's more conjecture, there's no quotes or anything concrete. They're even speculating on who blues are geting rid - surprisingly those are the players EVERYONE has mentioned rumoured to be moving from them! The Mirror have just pulled this story from stuff said on the net.

Says they are going to offload Jerome - and his agent is? Guess who!

Awesome post! You've come a long way since the dark days of " Are we awash with centre backs?" Are we awash with midfielders etc etc :-0

Yeah, The Mirror has said that but there's still nothing concrete there.

.....yeah, but has the Sun and Star confirmed the story? :claping hands:

Bloody tabloid garbage, the lot of them!
