A 2 year contract - wants time to consider.

Also another Marlon - this time Harewood has been contacted.

Could this be the 'Franchise' player people are talking about?

Didn't Harewood get a hatrick in Blackpools opening Premiership game last season? A bit old, but could do the job. Nugent has had a lot of stick from Pompey fans, but there's no denying that he is a top goalscorer at this level. His record is every bit as good as Kings is. I'd say he'd be that Franchise Player Brody talks of if we signed him.
I'd think his wage demands are way out of our reach, however-Harewoods probably less so.

Any source for this?

I don't think his scoring record would be anything like kings, Nugent hasn't really had a clear shot at things in a while. I think he is more than capable of performing at Cov though, he fits the criterea anyway. As for Harewood i'm not too sure, he could be awesome or crap. Regardless i'd take them both, Just hope Jutkiewicz doesn't get pushed aside, he needs regular play and he'll be great.

I would love to see either of these come to us but i think that we could only afford harewoods wages not nugents none the less still have a shot at him

Looking again Nugent hasn't scored as many as I thought-one really good season at Preston. Strange that it earnt him an England call. He did look an awesome player for PNE, but less so at Pompey. He suffered from being played out wide a lot.

I said it was a rumour guys....

Football-rumours.co.uk

What's interesting is that some older rumours have actually come about (King to Brum for example) so some credence, not much but some can be given to said rumours.

I heard about Nugent this morning and nearly fell out of bed with glee.

Then I remembered this is Cov and we get linked with everyone and end up with players like McKenzie and Kyle.

I'm going to believe this as much as the time there was talk about Joe Cole on loan. Until it's on BBC Sport or Sky News, this is just a dream :(

Harewood could potentially get 20 goals a season in the championship whereas Portsmouth fans don't seem to rate Nugent and he hasn't been a prolific goalscorer for them.

This has came from a site that anyone can post any rumour they want.
So I could go on that site and post a rumour that "Heskey, Keane and Kirkland are signing for Cov. Done deal"
Not having a go at the OP just letting people know that this isn't a very reliable source as any fan can go and post on that site

I'm a genuine dis-liker of rumour sites don't get me wrong but in this case there are plenty on there that have been correct and reading between the lines some are obvious stinkers and others you feel have a sense of probability to them....

At the end of the day we have some £10k a week to offer a top championship striker. That's fantastic money to come to Coventry's Ricoh arena in Olympic year and have a good season wouldn't you think? Blackpool had most of their Prem team only on 10k a week.

Harewood isn't very good anymore & i'm not sure if Nugent will be able to cut it here knowing he would be expected to score the majority of the goals.

A bit off topic but I was in Barcelona to see David Nugents one and only England appearance v Andorra and he scored a tap in in the 93rd minute! :p

Well I think anything you get from Brody twitters now will be regretfully zero denial stuff whatever the truth. They have had their fingers burnt and will not do that again in a hurry.

Harewood is past it in my opinion but would be a decent squad player (better than eastwood and platt anyway), he would no way be the franchise player either.

I loved all the in depth study people went to when LB dropped the F word.

I'm not sure we need to be building are team around a 30 year old Striker. We need someone young, hungry and ideally a starry eyed Cov fan.

I'm available to play every week...

Welcome to him to be honest.

Quick check on Nugent:

Age 26
290 league games/73 goals = 12 goals per 46 game season
Transferred from PNE to Portsmouth in 2007 for £9M

Lost his way a little bit at Pompey but wouldn't write him off.
Could come good under AT style of play
