Contract renewals (4 Viewers)

To avoid having the same problems as we have had this past few months, shouldn't we be looking to start extending the players contracts that are expiring next summer?
If I'm not mistaken, Sammy Clingan, James McPake, David Bell, Freddy Eastwood, Martin Cranie, Chris Hussey, Carl Baker, Gary McSheffrey, Clive Platt and Danny Ireland are all going to be out of contract this time next year.
I think we need to be pro-active and tie Clingan, McPake, Cranie, Hussey and McSheffrey down on long term deals. Bell, Eastwood and Baker should be judged on how they perform this coming season as to whether they get new deals or not. Platt and Ireland can be let go.

Anyone agree/disagree?

This forum is meant to be about debate...
So posting a topic where I agree with every point is completely unprofessional! Shame on you :claping hands::claping hands:

I certainly wouldnt tie McPake down to a long term deal,he's as injury prone as they come and the club are in enough debt as it is,without giving deals to players who dont play!!!!

I see your point, maybe not a long term deal, but he is certainly an asset when he's available. He's got to be worth at least another year?

I suggested that he sign up here on another thread a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps he's wary of laying himself open to more abuse than he got on Twitter over the MK affair

That's a fair comment. Maybe if it was to happen, we would have to make sure that we are tactful in what we say and respectful of the position he is in.
Constructive criticism aswell, no swearing, name calling or anything stupid.

If Brody does sign up I will moderate any topics he creates and remove any abusive posts. (Surely allot of you guys agree he doesn't deserve the abuse he gets?)

Can't agree more, the guy takes time out to talk to us. Least we can do is be civil. Besides, he actually seems like an alright chap.

I think that the abuse he gets on Twitter is largely not so much based on who he is, but more the sheer amount of complete morons that fill Twitter. Jordan Clarke was getting it in the neck for doing something as heinous as speaking about how he enjoys a day off, after all.

If you take pretty much any public figure and see the replies they get it would almost make you embarrassed to know you share most the same genetic make-up.

Yeah it was pathetic really. It was around the time that we were really in trouble of going in administration. He just put something like "enjoying a nice day off" and people starting replying to him saying that he didn't care what was going on at the club and how could he just walk out knowing what was going on around the place. Was stupid. I felt really sorry for him! Just some complete and utter morons around.

Going by his Twitter he's happy enough to face such questions and even meet people face to face. I'd like to think everyone here or the vast majority at least would avoid the mindless 'get owt of are club!!!' bile he gets regularly on Twitter.
