Well what a long day. Longest I've done to watch a city game I think! Although Brora last pre-season might come a close second.
16 1/2 hours, and €93 later, I'm finally back at my hotel!
As much as I'm liking being away, their transport systems are some one different!
Ticket machines take only coins, or Maestro. Neither of which I have (which almost created problems). I even tried the 'buy something from the shop with a note' in an attempt to get change, but that didn't work as I ended up with a €5 note as part of the change.was told to buy a ticket from the conductor, yet conductor charges more when on the train, plus an extra €35 fee on top of your ticket price!
Then when I return from getting off the last train, I'm faced with a 'taxi' stand with no taxi's to be seen, only to be rescued by a Dutch family returning from their holidays! Apparently they have a 'Treintaxi' (which I now known is a train-like taxi). You have to buy a ticket, then a mini bus comes for the people waiting. I'm then required to join their family for a short period while we drop them home before I get to be the next stop!
Then the hotel had locked the doors!
As for the people, I'm yet to meet one who is not happy to help a lost / confused Brit. Although I did ask one if the train arriving at the platform and she replied 'I assume so', but it was in itself a silly question to be fair!
Anyway enough of my ramblings about my day!
