Starving the club of money (3 Viewers)

Been a few threads and posts these past few weeks about how stay away fans will be starving the club of money and how much it will hurt CCFC.

Been thinking about this and going over stuff that has been said in my mind.

A few things jump out at me.


1. I recall CWR saying that the club were budgeting for crowds of less than 2,000 at Sixfields. The club were expecting very low attendances.

2. Sisu say they are in this for the long haul and it being a 10 year plan. They say they are going nowhere.

3. They say they ARE building a new stadium and it will happen.

4. They say they are prepared to take the financial hit for the 3 years or whatever until we build the new ground and they will give CCFC the financial backing.


Now, this is what's bugging me.

How are we starving the club when the owners have already budgeted for the crowds they pretty much know they are going to get?

They have known how low the crowds are going to be, they have said they will take the financial hit and they have said that they will build the new stadium anyway. How therefore are any of the boycotters putting the club at risk, when everything has already been planned and decided and the owners knew the fans feelings before they went ahead with the groundshare?

Sisu say they have a plan and everything is geared up to this plan and they will carry it through.

If they are going to do it anyway and say they will fund the club for 3 years then I don't see how anyone is putting the club at any risk here by not going.

I agree with that Otis and its a shame because these hounds have deep pockets and are bloody minded enough to spend 10 years and millions of pounds, as long as they make a profit in the long run.

In going along with NOPM etc, the only hope would be it would be a business so run down that nobody sane would ever stump up the asking price...coupled with enough bad publicity to make the hedge fund investors to say enough is enough, cut your losses and sell Joy, WE'RE not spending one penny more on CCFC.

Well, if they are prepared to fund the club for 3 years, but after a few months it becomes clear that it would never be worth what they would expect to sell if for, they might eat humble pie and sell up.

I don't recall SISU themselves saying they were budgeting for as low a number as 2,000 per game at Sixfields. I thought the bottom end of their expectation was 3,000 and high was 7,000 to 8,000. I might be wrong

What do you expect them to say?
They want as much as they can out of this, if they give any set of indication of being weak they are finished. They want to try and get some money back and need to sound strong, its not there style to leave with nothing. If someone made a decent bid they would walk, but at present what would anyone be buying?

TF said he expected crowds of 4/5 thousand with more joining as we slowly crawled back

but regarding the sisu prepared to take the hit for X amount of years , well they could have done that in the Championship and we could have been in the premier league.

2000 will be reached occasionally,due to away fans, never by us

I think people have made decent bids. Unfortunately what SISU are looking for is an insane bid!

I feel like this is us against them. Funny thing is no matter what they do they can't win. There will always be CCFC, even if they run the current club into the ground we'll bring it back again. Their investment however is f*cked; no matter how stubborn they are, tricks they play and lies they tell.

I don't think Sisu are here for the long term - that's not how hedge funds work. What they do is use any method available to get the best deal for themselves. They are effectively holding the club for ransom, expecting someone to buy them out. Our best bet is to starve them out by giving them nothing - not one penny more. They'll have to sell a diminishing asset sooner rather than later if we have the guts to face them out.

OK I must have missed that. I guess though that starving SISU of income will still have a detrimental effect on the football club even with SISU already budgeting for losses based on a low attendance. This is because there will still be an unbudgeted reduction in funds towards FFP for investment in the team (that is unless SISU offers and the FL accepts an injection of funds towards FFP). But having said this, the biggest reduction in income towards FFP next season and beyond has been brought about by the hedge fund taking us to Northampton in the first place. So I for one have no qualms about trying to add to SISU debts by starving them of funds even if it adds to the damage already inflicted on the club by SISU. I personally have come to the decision that i will not spend another penny with SISU unless they return the club to the Ricoh on a long term basis. I will not be going to a new stadium while SISU own the club and i will not weaken whatever happens. If we all took this stance (which i appreciate won't happen) then SISU could not have a viable long term plan and would have to consider cutting their losses and leaving sooner rather than later.

People keep saying how clever Sisu are and how they are hard nosed businessmen.

Anyone could see surely what we the fans could foresee and that was that hardly anyone would go to Northampton.

Thing is NW, I just find it hard to believe anything Sisu say.

I keep hearing on the forums how they will spin everything and say things are okay when they are not okay.

What are we supposed to believe and what aren't we supposed to believe.

In the OP here I am just trying to understand their thinking. Just seems they knew next to no-one would go but have still nailed their colours to the mast anyway.
