So come 3pm Sunday 11th August 2013. 130 years of CCFC club history comes to a close.
The 'real' supporters of CCFC will be at the Ricoh celebrating the occasion whilst our illustrious owners and their 'loyal' band of CCFC 'fans' will be doing what they think is best for the club.

With nothing to sell SISU are losing money hand over fist and by the time they have built their new 'stadium' somewhere our 'new' club, supporter owned and playing in our own stadium with all the revenues going into the team will be flying high.
Real supporters of CCFC could make this happen.

This is going to be an emotional day. I really think I'm going to well up when the charity game pauses at 3:00 to sing the Sky Blue song; while SISU FC kick off in Northampton.

Sunglasses needed today and not just 'cause the old currant buns going to be shining I suspect...

For those of us that can't make it today, can someone please record the singing of the sky blue song? Also any emotional speeches made?

We are going to record and video everything we can, also going to film the new vid for the "ribbons everywhere" song by Lt Pigeon so you should be able to hear and see most of today in the near future.
The exact attendance will be announced and this will be accurate, am not sure if the gate at Sixfields will be available but am sure it will be less than the number they actually give.
Lets all enjoy this day and then discuss and agree our next battle to get our team back to Coventry.

Yeah it'll be a bit like when they have that "really meaningful bit" in an american sitcom,

Sorry but it sounds a bit too gooey to me

I've been trying to put into words how I feel and somehow ended up writing a poem. Apart from in some ancient GCSE English class many years ago, I don't think I've ever written a poem before so you'll have to forgive me if it's terrible - but I'm going to share it anyway. Sorry!

Sky Blue Memories

Across Gosford Green we used to walk,
Who will play, who will score, was the talk,
Along Swan Lane and past the Tavern,
Dreaming one day we'll we score 7 (seven),
Fans in Sky Blue drinking beers,
Anticipating all the boos and cheers,
Down the steps and in the ground,
Buy a programme, look around.

We find our seat and share a joke,
Senses tingling from the smoke,
The old man beside me has a pipe,
There's electric noise, the air is ripe,
Whistle blown, we're up and roaring
Quick knockdown sees Regis scoring,
Up one end and back the other,
Get up Smith, let's score another.

Half-time comes, what's the scores?
We're off again, at times it bores,
Floodlights on, it's getting foggy,
Our tactic is pass back to Oggy,
But it works, we get the win,
Sky Blue Army, what a din!
Transistor radios clasped to ears,
The crowd departs to lasting cheers.

The ground has gone and now the team,
Is leaving Coventry - a mad, bad dream!
It may have left, but memory's stained,
Like watching Villa as it rained,
We'll be back, we said before,
And we'll sing our songs of yore,
To remember our Sky Blues,
For while we sing, we'll never lose.

I'm forever waving ribbons
Sky blue ribbons in the air
They reach so high
Nearly reach the sky
Then like our team, they fade and die
Fortunes sisu hiding
Appleton, he's looked nowhere
I'm forever waving ribbons
Until my sky blues come back here

When the other point of view is put across in such an intelligent and empathetic way, it does make you think.....

Not the right thread, but in the interests of balance... ;)

I'd politely suggest both 'sides' are so busy trying to score cheap points off each other, the very thought of organising a joined up protest has gone over everybody's heads and the chance has been lost.

Why, if you are true Sky Blue fans are you going all the way to Northampton to give away your hard earned cash to a bunch of crooks and support a team that no longer has any association with Coventry.
A sensible reply would be nice but judging by your intellect I am probably not going to get one - point proven

Do you know, reading that I had the strangest sense of deja vu :D

To an extent, I agree with you and it would be wonderful if we all shared the same view about how to put things right.

In my view, an empty stadium at Sixfields (other than away fans) would have sent a very powerful message, but obviously others (though it appears, perhaps fewer than I'd expected/feared) see things differently.

On the other hand, I'm slightly surprised that given what's happened, things have stayed as calm as they have.

As it is, when today's game was first mentioned, I'd hoped we'd get a bigger attendance than Sixfields. It appears that we have a good chance of getting a bigger attendance than Sixfield's capacity - for a Charity kick about!

I just hope that the media give that fact the publicity that it deserves.

P.S. And I hate the fact that I'm missing the first "home" game of the season - really mixed emotions today!
