Haskell purchases the club off SISU as everyone has a price in return Coventry City Council and Higgs sell their stadium shares to Haskell at preferential rates and also gives Haskell rights to develop land around the stadium - Could this be the reason why Haskell is about at the moment? seems simple but could be true and could be workable

Haskell is after the cheapest possible deal to get hold of the stadium. He's no different from SISU in motivation. He has zero interest in CCFC.

the only simple thing at the moment is timmy.

After listening to Fisher this morning he didn't sound like he gave a toss about coming back, infact I would say he sounded quite comfortable with the situation to a point of smugness. I think unless someone offers them an un refuse able deal to walk away SISU seem to be quite happy with the situation. I don't think we will see the club at the Ricoh until they have gone or they have been able to buy the ACL business as distressed debt, we have 2 immovable objects that are unwilling to compromise in anyway at all. Ask yourself why would Tim be involved in football at all, he is a banker by trade dealing in distressed debt so he is in his element and ACL have to protect rate payers money and follow government guidelines. You can get the FA and the league to intervene but they do not have the legislation to change things that has to come from government. This is a game of who blinks first and it is not going to change in the short term. Haskell could by the Ricoh from the council and the charity but I think this would just make SISU put the club in to liquidation so they get as much back as possible through the debenture, for Seppala its a business decision nothing to do with history or community just cold hard cash. Sorry to say I cant see an end to this from the powers that be that run the game and its to late for us for government legislation, the more I think about it now the more a Coventry FC at the Ricoh begins to make sense.

Does anybody seriously believe that any of the potential investors have anything else in mind other than getting hold of the Ricoh at a knockdown price? The AEH Trust have said they'll sell their share for £4m, which immediately makes it a bargain to anyone who can get their hands on it. But it's rendered of almost no value if it doesn't have a sports franchise playing there regularly and bringing in a reasonable gate, hence the desire to tie up the purchase with the club. It doesn't mean they don't have any interest in the longterm future of the club, but we shouldn't go into this with our eyes closed.

I've never stated it was fact but it's an opinion based on fact. He stated that he was only interested in CCFC if he got the club for nothing, i.e. it's a worthless vehicle for his real intention.

If he bought CCFC without The Ricoh it would be another sinking ship and we'd go through all this again. CCFC are not sustainable in that venue at the rates they were expected to pay, as they got virtually no revenue back. Why would any businessman buy CCFC if they can't ammend those errors made in the past which have left us where we are? Getting hold of the Arena first, as cheap as possible, is better business for him all round otherwise there would never be money to put back into the club should he choose to buy that too.
 
It is worth reflecting if Haskell would be better than SISU. But let’s look at the facts. SISU took over and immediately started to sell assets. In the early days they had plenty of opportunity to work with ACL and broker a deal that was equitable to both sides. They chose not to. Either because that wanted it at a Fire sale price or because they could not afford it. My monies on the later. So question is, could Haskell be any worse? He’d have to try incredible hard to be worse.

This is a valid fear. Whilst I want sisu to go, that doesn't mean I want to replace a finnish shark with a yank shark! If he is here now just for the arena itself, then quite frankly I would tell him to do one! If he is here to eventually bring the team back and invest in the team I would talk. It is so important that this time a thorough check on the typical business practices is taken out.

Joe brought in sisu to prevent admin/liquidation. The last thing we need is to make the same mistakes and end up where we are now!

Do not agree with this statement at all, if he did not care about supporters or Coventry City he would have walked ages ago.
One of the things he insists on is fan involvment and wants to set things up like Swansea, who he says were second bottom of the Football League 10 years ago.

Surely the council were only involved in first place because the private finance fell through...so private ownership of Ricoh was always the plan.....they seem increasingly nervious about selling it, and this is nothing to do with care for cov city fans....

From what i have seen Haskall recognises the value of a succesful football team for the Ricoh... and vice versa...a football team that can benefit from a successful business.... and i think i like a lot of fans will be releaved to get out of the grasps of SISU and the council...

No it is simple - it isn't easy!

Haskell or AN Other will buy Higgs half and maybe do a deal to buy Council half. Then buy CCFC off SISU. This reunites the stadium and the football club as a single entertity and gets into the important F&B revenues - or at least 77% Compass will not sell and you might not want them to.

if someone wants to unite the football club and stadium they should buy the club first after agreeing but not signing a deal to buy the stadium. If you buy the stadium then ask to buy the football club it's going to cost you a whole lot more money.

Yes, much more sensible to continue as they are at Northampton losing in excess of £10M per year.

I believe there's a council report that says the freehold's not actually worth that much as ACL have the lease but the value rises as the time remaining on the lease lowers.

Who's sold a football stadium recently? Fratton Park was £4m when the supporters trust purchased it but that's nothing like a comparable business or ground.

How on earth did you come up with a valuation of £150m?

With such a high-risk investment, an investor would be expecting a potential return of 15-20%, so where is the annual return/income of £22m - £30m going to come from, without taking into account the additional cost of developing the remaining 7.5 acres of land that remains?

I am valuing the stadium at £150 million as it costs over £120 million to build and has sitting tenants such as casino and hotel and also would have an income stream with the football club- All these parties do pay a lot of money to all of these solicitors and accountants and advisors to think when it is hitting them all in the face the only way SISU are going to move is a reasonable offer - Haskell may not feel SISU are worth £30 million but forget that part of the deal its what he has to shell out overall that counts and £50 million for a stadium worth £150 million should hopefully turn his head

Would have thought if Haskell took over then ACL would disappear and he wold probably take on some of the existing staff and form a new entertainments company with all the revenues going to himself
