Leon Clarke
Coventry City boss Steven Pressley is furious with Scunthorpe counterpart Brian Laws for suggesting that the Sky Blues are trying to sell star striker Leon Clarke.
Laws was quoted on Scunthorpe’s website this morning saying: “He’s available because of Coventry’s current financial situation, but he’s also on a very high wage as well which we wouldn’t be prepared to pay.

“Realistically we wouldn’t have any hope of signing Leon, not at this stage. He’ll have a lot of clubs chasing after him that will be prepared to pay.”
But Pressley insisted: “That’s absolute nonsense - nothing could be further from the truth and for them to be talking that way about a player contracted to another club is inexcusable.”

“That type of speculation infuriates me because it can destabilise a player and we’ve contacted Scunthorpe to say how disgusted we are with their behaviour.”
Meanwhile City are sweating on the fitness of goalkeeper Joe Murphy as they prepare for Saturday’s trip to Carlisle United.
The Irishman picked up a foot injury during last week’s League Cup win and had to pass a late fitness test before Sunday’s 5-4 win against Bristol City at Sixfields.

He has again missed training this week but manager Steven Pressley is hopeful that he will again declare himself fit.
If not, understudy Lee Burge is on standby to make his first senior start

Pressley furious that Laws points out the obvious. Clearly any of the high earners are up for sale - I'd be surprised if we held on to all three come the end of August.

Shame on them for destabilising a player...Of course it's okay for SP's bosses to destabilise their landlords and the people of Coventry.

Elvis is doing a good job, but he's extremely dim where shitsu are concerned they would flog Joys mother if there was interest, i think Elvis will get noticed by other clubs and do what Robbins did, and i don't blame him.

Wouldn't worry about it Steve, nobody sensible would fly off the handle because of a report like this.

Pressley insisted: “That’s absolute nonsense - nothing could be further from the truth and for them to be talking that way about a player contracted to another club is inexcusable.”

“That type of speculation infuriates me because it can destabilise a player and we’ve contacted Scunthorpe to say how disgusted we are with their behaviour.”

Getting close to "flying off the handle though.....???" :)

Although on a more serious note, can't say I blame him.

I am glad about this because it might not show people that expectations based on the past aren't all there cracked up to be.

(However please don't quote me on this until the window shuts)

I'll be surprised if we hold onto any of them, frnakly.

We'll do a tenner each on them.

Any that are still here at the end of the window you'll pay me a tenner.

Any of the three that have been transferred before the end of the transfer window, I'll pay you a tenner.
