Telegraph response to Northampton advertisement... (22 Viewers)

Just had a phone call with some guy to do with the sports side of things,I asked why have they printed that spread today considering their on board the "keep cov on cov" campaign etc...

His response was they fully understand how this looks but if someone wants to pay for advertisement they can do there's not a lot they can do.He said if they refused then they will get threats as they have done before of trying to distress their company.

Sounds like SISU have made threats to the Coventry Evening Telegraph before then also when they have printed stuff saying they are trying to distress their business.

The Telegraph is part of the Trinity-Mirror Group anyway, they might not have that much say over what ads they can and can't publish.

I would be happy to make a donation if the SB trust find out how much a half-page/full page add would cost. I'm sure there would be a few hundred others who feel the same and would be prepared to donate.

Surely, we don't need to contribute any further? When I joined the SBT I gave an extra tenner and I'm sure many others did when they did their recruitment drive at the end of last season. They are always banging about a "fighting fund" so maybe some of that money should be used for an advert?

Don't see why not, having run SISU's ad they have set a precedent. Running a keep cov in cov advert or similar would just be in the interests of balance wouldnt it?

It's commercial reality for a local newspaper and that's about it.

If they have had letters from SISU lawyers it would go some way to explain why some perfectly acceptable comments wanting SISU out were removed from the telegraph site under articles.

Can't see how they could do that as it would be easy to get hold of their standard advertising rates. By the looks of the website you contact ad people in Trinity Mirrors central offices first and foremost anyway so you could probably get the price before they even realised it might be controversial.

The telegraph is a local rag at the end of the day with a readership of less than 90k people. Its not going to cost the earth.

1 was given ribbons free by a Coventry company originally as far as I know individuals have paid for the rest. Coaches to London paid for by by people attending and that was the first time all other times people get there themselves.
