Owners just like managers, players & grounds (stadiums or arens's) come and go
Such a shame then that SISU are still here, I wish they'd sold up ages ago.
(so do Councils & Arena operators) but SUPPORTERS are always in it for the long haul, LIFE!
You're right Supporters are in it for the long haul, most just didn't think it would mean a long haul trip to watch our 'Home' matches. At the moment it feels like a life sentence for me and possibly for many fans which might be another reason why they're not going to watch the team at Sixfields.
What that means to me is supporting the TEAM, wherever they play.
I think the majority still support the team, though some fans sadly will have given up when we were moved to Northampton and for how long peoples patience lasts is another thing. It appears though (given the attendance for 'Home' matches that the majority don't support the move to Sixfields and therefore won't be attending any 'Home' matches there. I hear there are cheaper stadium rents going in Spain what with all the economic problems over there so if we move there no worries for you?
Of course like the majority I'd prefer that to be in Coventry but circumstances are what they are and long term we as a club need to buy and own our own stadium
So now you think we should
buy and
not build our own stadium? Tim's not gonna like that he's got his heart set on The White Elephant Stadium he's had plans drawn up and is looking at land everyday I hope. SISU had the opportunity to buy the management firm controlling the Ricoh and chose not to, that ship has sailed though apparently.
(FIFA Fair Play Rules, based on GROSS INCOME).
Which makes the reason why we've been moved to a smaller stadium miles from where the majority of supporters live, where the owners have had to lower ticket prices to compensate and have a FAR LOWER INCOME as a result even more baffling.
The focus from the majority is miss-placed because our current owners have kept our club going, said they'd move out of the Ricoh and have done so, also said they'd build a new stadium
Wait so we're now back on with the White Elephant Stadium? Okay that's better as I thought for a second we might be looking at purchasing Nene Park or even Sixfields.
and I truly believe they will
Good for you, it's faith like that they're exploiting trying to lure people to go into Sixfields. Have you seen some plans or anything that remotely indicates that they're actually going to do this because a lot of our supporters have seen diddly squat.
(unless of course some sort if agreement on the Ricoh can be reached but personally I can't see it).
Well that's what happens when you withhold rent and take out legal proceedings against one of the owners of the place where you're based rather than negotiate first.
Those not going to Sixfields are "missing-out" IMHO
Yes but the point is that SISU are "missing-out" on the revenue those supporters would otherwise be giving them because we're not playing in Coventry. As a supporter the major weapon that you have in a situation like this appears to be a financial one. As SISU only seem to understand money - or the lack of it in this case - witholding it via NOPM seem to be the only way we can make them come to their senses.
but we're ALL entitled to our own view.
I hear the view from the hill outside Sixfields isn't bad and you can see over two thirds of the pitch without needing to give SISU anything, if you do decide to travel to Sixfields.
The negativity surrounding my club has existed for many more years than I care to remember but suddenly things have changed, driven by Steven Pressley and his very exiting young squad.
The results on the pitch are indeed very good and I can't think there can be a Sky Blues fan who isn't cheering every goal that goes in. It's just that it's a bit early to be popping champagne corks just yet, as someone else said they don't decide final league places after a handful of games
Either you buy into and help build a much more positive future for our club
Can't get very positive about the future when we're homeless playing at a far lower capacity ground that is over thirty miles from our home city of Coventry and have seen nothing concrete (pun intended) to say that we're going to come back anytime soon.
or, you may well be helping to bring on it's demise IMHO!
And you are welcome to your opinion.
My biggest fear is that the current under-current may eventually effect the team on the pitch, sadly and force our owners to totally 'liquidate' the club.
As would be their choice, however if they thought that there was a negative public image and perception of their Hedge Fund business and negativity towards them before this season started if they liquidated us that's only going to increase.
Owners are definitely not the issue here
Really, okay great could they hurry up and sell up please and we can then get someone who cares enough to give up the NOPM to ACL and actually pay rent whilst negotiating to buy ACL.
and to be honest I'm totally fed-up with all the politics but when the truth does eventually come out I think ACL (who've been used as a 'political football) by the other protagonists COVENTRY CITY COUNCIL and I eagerly await future developments
I'm sure there was a sentence in there somewhere and I think I understand what you're saying (although could you please clarify it for me?), I don't agree with it but that's just my opinion. I await the future developments on the Judicial Review application although I'm already fed up with Judicial Reviews. You'd have thought SISU would have got the message that the council didn't act improperly when the Judge said in his reasons for refusing permission for a Judicial review that:
Mr Justice Males said:
"I am not persuaded that there is an arguable case that the loan by the council constituted an unlawful state aid.
"It was made on commercial terms, in order to protect the council's investment in ACL, in circumstances where ACL's bank was threatening to hold ACL in default.
"The alternatives would appear to have been either the insolvency of ACL which (largely because the claimants had caused rent to be withheld as a means of exerting pressure in the commercial negotiations, which had led to an unsatisfied judgment of the High Court in ACL's favour) was not in a position to pay the loan, or acceptance of the claimants' proposals which the council did not consider to be in its commercial interests.
"It is clear from public statements made by members of the council, in particular councillor Mutton, that at least some members (of the council) have a strong animosity towards the claimants.
"However, I do not accept that this demonstrates that the council made its decision to offer a loan to ACL for an improper purpose or in bad faith.
"Its purpose was the legitimate commercial purpose of protecting investment in ACL.
"The claim that the decision was ultra vires (unlawful) is dependent on a showing of an improper purpose and therefore has no independent life once it is determined that the council's purpose was not improper."
Sadly it appears that SISU didn't get the message and have lodged an appeal against that decision.
but in the meantime PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE support Steven, the lads and the most entertaining football I've witnessed at home for 15 to 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PUSB
Don't get me wrong I (and hopefully all our fans) do support the Team and the Manager, although I won't be going to Sixfields (even if I can) to support them as that's not in our home City where we should be playing our home fixtures this season. I take my lunch break on a Saturday and Sunday from 3-4pm so that I can listen to 5 live on my radio and watch the BBC live text of our games, I wear my Keep Coventry in Coventry wristband every day despite it being against the approved dress code where I work. As always I wish the Manager and the Team every success and I hope that they understand why we're not going to see them at NTFC.
