Coventry City have told League One rivals Sheffield United that Callum Wilson is not for sale after the Blades made an inquiry about the young striker’s availability.
United boss David Weir and his new assistant Lee Carsley – who knows all about the pacy 21-year-old from his time with the Sky Blues – are understood to have been at Sixfields on Sunday to see the striker in sensational form, scoring two and setting up one for Leon Clarke.
“It doesn’t surprise me that there has been interest because young strikers of his type are not easy to come by,” said manager Steven Pressley who has been delighted with Wilson’s outstanding form that has seen him log five goals in City’s first five games.
“I have spoken to Callum of late and he’s very happy at this club and it’s important for him to realise that he’s only at the start of his journey.
“For me, a lot young players move too quickly but we’ve no intention of selling him and the player is very, very happy at this football club and certainly sending those signals out to me.
“He’s at a stage of his career where he needs to play consistently and he needs to get a run of games, and he knows he’s a pivotal part of the squad here.
"We’ve got a very good relationship with him and we want him to remain at this club. And he will.”It remains to be seen if the Blades will pursue their interest with a bid for the player but Pressley insists it would take a “ridiculous” offer before the club would consider selling any of their players."

*if you dont agree you are tim fisher

Do you exist in life just to piss other people off? This is only the 3rd post and you are trying to incite the Fisher comments. Do you get a kick off it?

I actually agree with the first line but thats my opinion.

You agree with the first line, a rumour that sheffield might buy him and he's going.
Then the club come out and say he's not for sale and to you that means "we'll drive him up there if you want"

Sorry SP its Tim who decides to stays and who goes

Well if Pressley has told Sheff Utd to shove it then I assume any offer will not be considered.

Have you always believed what the club state???? IMHO if Sheffield make the right bid then I am convinced he would be sold.

Top post!

You must lead a very sheltered life. That line sounds like something my children would say "you only dont because of SISU" Yes I do, no you dont..............................

First of all lets clarify it wasnt a rumour, Shef Utd made an enquiry. Secondly I like to base my findings on history and unfortunately my friend SISU do not have a very good track record when it comes to keeping players of any quality.

and if they do keep him, then what?

next time a player is linked away will you still post the same incorrect predictions?

It's very reasonable not to put any faith in articles like this because the majority of clubs not just ours make them weather or not they are true. It's presumably done to push up the price of the player. Clubs have cried wolf so many thousands of times that denials become almost meaningless. That doesn't mean we should assume it's a lie because it easily could be true but we should just try not to assume anything.

Whatever they say every single one of our players is for sale if someone offers significantly more than we think their value is and there is nothing wrong with that, for the most part selling a player for a value greater than they are worth is the right thing to do in most instances, as long as you can replace them.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I live a sheltered life..

However my reasons for thinking that Callum won't be sold is because of the reasons I have stated in the previous thread, on top of the fact that if I listenedto every rumour we'd have no players.

I'd also like to base my opinion on fact. For example SP has stated (which is a fact) that Callum Wilson is not for sale and that the enquiry they have made for him was rebuffed. Now Sheff Utd could go away and decide to test the water if they wanted, however I don't think Callum was there only target and I am sure they'll move on to someone else.

Two more facts for you, a) rumours aren't facts and b) The past doesn't decide the future.

you're basing your views on opinion not fact and the fact is that the club have stated he is not for sale now go onto a different thread to spout your rubbish

Then they keep him, that was easy. I tell you what when the transfer window shuts I will personally apologise for any harm caused to all concerned if Wilson remains and then maybe we can real off the list of all the top players who have been sold for fuck all under SISU's reign and then maybe you might realise why im a little cautious.

everyone is cautious or there wouldn't be 8 page threads about it!

there is being cautious and there is a out right refusal to accept any other opinion but your own.

A) It wasnt a rumour and B) The past has clearly decided the future of CCFC.

you clearly have no response to that as you've been found out...

I would just rather have an intelligent conversation as opposed to responding to the crap that comes from your direction but hey as long as the club have said he his not for sale then lets not think anymore of it.

The club have just stated it will take a ridiculous offer before we consider selling any of our players, so we should all be confident that we aren't going to sell any of christie, clark, baker, wilson in the next few days, while I certainly hope thats the case I'm not at all confident, are you?

As everyone knows, our top players are in the 'bomb squad' and we're trying to let them go! Read in to that what you will, guys!!!

Everyone at every club is for sale at the right price. I hope Sheffield Utd don't have the money for that to happen. I can see Sisu snapping their hand off at anything over 200k.
