If messi was a woman beater im sure none of you would complain if he joined Coventry.

Marlon king is no Messi
However he was a very significant signing for Cov at the time.
He had a massive impact. Probably the best player Cov could have realistically signed at the time.
Yet it was still wrong and should not have happened

unfortunately i know someone quite well who did the same thing and he still maintains it wasn't his fault and she "set" him up, the basis for this was because she had time to dial 999 before the beating started and the whole event was recorded by the operator and provided as evidence in the court case.

Maybe you should choose friends more carefully?
That is the most pathetic excuse I have ever heard.

I wasn't going whilst King was playing for us.

Quite a few felt the same way.

but it clearly didn't bother many as attendances didn't change whilst he was here and only one person returned there season ticket

100 percent with you on this.

It was not even a one off mistake

On the other hand he served his time. I would avoid judging him as I do not know the actual facts if why he did it. I am fully against violence against women, but then recently there was a case in Coventry of a female thug beating an old man up...would you hit her if she set about YOU? Would that have impact on people's view about Marlon if he had what some might call provocation?
It's all a dilemma that I think we have to make individual choice about.

exactly, too many fans want to play the gentlemen in these cases

its as if punching a girl is worse than killing a man, i find it weird thinking.

i do not like marlon as a person but him in league 1 = 20 goals minimum for me, we would be ruthless

wont happen tho

Maybe you should look up the actual facts of the case(s) of assault against women that Marlon King has.

Fed up of his apologists before, "She asked for it", "Split-tail deserved it" etc.

Nasty piece of work, and somebody worthy of a NOPM campaign.

Are you still trying to be controversial and not bother thinking about what you post?

No way do I want him back. I was happy for him to be here last time. He had done his time and hoped he would have changed his ways. This is not so. He hit someone with his car and did not know how serious their injuries were when he drove off. Not as bad as that twat we signed from WBA. Not far off it with what he has done though.

Look as a whole on what he has done. Do you hit women? I never have done, and have been attacked by a few over the years. If a bloke tries it with me he will get it back with interest though. We could also do without any more distractions at our club. We have enough problems that need dealing with already.

All for giving people chances where do you draw the line .....

While on loan to Hull City, King was alleged to have headbutted teammate Dean Windass in a casino in Scarborough. Hull City stated that the matter had been dealt with internally, and both players remained with the club.[54] Windass later described the incident as a "storm in a teacup".

King has convictions for 14 offences, dating from 1997.[55][56] He received fines, driving bans, community service sentences, a rehabilitation order and orders to pay compensation on convictions including: theft from a person and from a car, criminal damage, and attempting to obtain property by deception; fraudulent use of vehicle licence document, driving without insurance, speeding, drink driving; a wounding incident while playing amateur football, and two cases involving assault of young women rejecting his advances in the Soho area of London.

Two cases led to imprisonment. In May 2002 he received an eighteen-month prison sentence for receiving stolen goods, in relation to a BMW convertible that he was found driving. He was found not guilty of a charge of assaulting a police officer in a related case. His solicitor commented that "His reputation will be tarnished forever, whatever success he achieves, he'll always be referred to in a Tyson-esque way as someone who has had a criminal past and that is a considerable penalty."[57][58]Gillingham continued to pay his salary while he was in jail, and supported in his appeal, which resulted in the sentence being reduced to nine months, and he was released on licence after five months, returning to the Gillingham team within two days of his release.[59]

In December 2008, again in the Soho area, King was arrested on suspicion of punching a 20 year-old female university student in the face, causing a broken nose and split lip for which she was treated in hospital. He was later convicted of sexual assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sentenced to 18 months in prison and placed on the Sex Offender Register for seven years.[2] Wigan Athletic immediately initiated the cancellation of his contract.[19] King’s agent, Tony Finnigan, said he was confident that his client would find a club on his release, which was on 29 July 2010,[60] and accused the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) of failing to offer support. Gordon Taylor, the chief executive of the PFA, said that the PFA did not represent players when they have broken the law and been convicted on non-footballing matters. It would support members with anger management or other issues if approached but no approach had been made by King.[16] After his release, he made an appeal against the conviction which was unsuccessful.[61]

King was arrested and bailed in April 2013 after a car crash which left one man seriously injured.[62] On 30 July 2013, he was arrested in connection to a hit-and-run incident which had left a man injured.[63]

I think on top of the things he has done, it was the way he left the club. Agreed a new deal and then moved to brum on a whim (and lots more money). I wouldnt have him back and lets face it, IF he did sign for us it would prove that he is over the hill anyway.

In addition, he is not part of our transfer policy of signing under 12's anyway :)

I support him has a player as he was something else when playing for us. Just don't support him as a general person. I'm sure many share the same opinion

All he needs is a bit of training on how to pull a woman, if he gets that he wouldnt need to attack once they reject his advances. simple logic gentlemen. Bring Marlon back

I'd rather have Don King than Marlon King. Like an earlier poster, I was also singing the 'he's done his time and can help our promotion push' tune and was wrong on this as well.

Thinking over his track record and the fact that Brum have released him, I defo wouldn't take him back. As Stu said, he doesn't fit the U-21 mantra we're going with at the mo...

i want him back and to be honest maybe she shouldn't have led him on...

For the record I don not condone what Marlon did, however id put my house on the fact that she lead him on all night. people denying that clearly know nothing on female behaviour

Rude? Please explain.

I stated facts about him. So you also think he would help on the pitch when off it he would cause more problems.

Were you there? Do you know what happened? Did they even speak before the event happened?

Some footballers think they can get away with anything. But his criminal record just keeps getting bigger. Don't worry, we can always blame someone else.

To be honest my friend, I dont think the reputation of our club could get any lower at the minute

Who mentioned reputation? We seem to have a close squad. Lets bring in a dodgy character for the young lads to be with. He has had enough chances for me.

I thought King was obviously an excellent player for us, but it was hard to enjoy it knowing what kind of person he was and how it portrayed us. I'm a firm believer that like with Lee Hughes and Luke McCormack, once society deems them free to continue their life football shouldn't deny them, I'd just rather it be different teams facing the dilemma. As annoyed as I was with his U-turn and exit to Birmingham, there was a little relief in there too.

For someone not condoning it, you do seem keen to transfer the blame. Away from someone with a chequered history of anti-social behaviour, also.
