I remember that Bobby Parker used to go in the Jaguar - which probably explains why a huge talent went to waste.

Used to see Kevin Thornton in Jumping Jacks, mainly coming out of the Loo. ;)

Saw Dave Bennett in a few pubs in Nuneaton, didn't he used to own or run a couple? Pig and Whistle?

Once saw Steven Warnock and Neil Mellor going into the skydome too.

I used to see Oggy in Rileys snooker place above the mercia sound place mid eighties on a friday afternoon,With a pint and a silk cut.
Also Micky Quinn quite a lot in TGI's as i knew a girl he was seeing who worked in there!!!

1974/75 used to see Tommy Hutch in the Rainbow in Allesley Village on Saturday's after a home match. He used to sit at the bar having a quiet one or three. I chatted with him a few times and he was a real nice guy.

Ian Wallace loved the pool table at the Hobsons Choice - Warwick, and usually not drinking!! He lived on the Woodloes in its early days, before the pub was built.

I remember my friend's dad taking us, as youngsters, to a pub in Job's Lane (The Woodlands?) to see a hero of his youth - George Mason who was the landlord.

I don't think we caught him on the best day, there seemed to have been some trouble earlier, and I remember him as being a bit grumpy.

...............and right up to his passing Ernie Machin supped in the Wyken Club on Ansty Road, and I cleaned his windows !

I hadn't heard of Ernie's passing; sad to learn of that. He was one of JH's first signings I think and played from Div 3 up to Div 1. One of my heroes from my younger days.

Goodbye Ernie RIP

Used to collect glasses at Cov and N.Warwick cricket club when i was younger...oggy used to play cricket and snooker there.
When collecting glasses in the snooker room, aged 15/16, was once to told to 'fuck off' by his snooker pal...f*#ing charming...oggy said nothing...respect diminished.
Also played golf with dean emerson at newbold comyn once (made up a foursome)...not very chatty tho-always seemed to be on his mobile (in a time when they weren't that common).

Ernie Machin was a nice bloke and when I first started cleaning his windows he commented on my City shirt I was wearing.
I asked him If he supported the club ?he said he used to play for them and I then clicked on who he was !
He was modest and I said I'd clean his windows for free as he is a legend,he wouldn't have that and paid extra !
Great bloke.
