Very Impressed - Poolie match report from yesterday (7 Viewers)

I am a Hartlepool fan living in Huntingdon and I went with a Coventry supporting mate to the Sixfields yesterday. And I have to say after watching Pools freefall and serve up some crap footbal my god where you impressive. Colchester had only one chance of note I remember and that was at 0-0 the guy should have bust the net but to be honest was diserved at all and you tore them apart with on the deck passing football. Should have been 4-0 inside 30 minutes, Clarke was very unlucky.

Just shows you what a inform from two can give you (we have been crying out for just one for two seasons), Wilson and Clarke both new where each other would be always looking for a one-two or give and go. Your right back Christie (i think) who basically was playing as a winger tortured their defence and their left back was substituted after 20 minutes, the little fella from their defence who switched sides to cover did no better. Also I would say a bit shout to you captain as he covered lots of ground and looked to get stuck in, granted this was the same with all your teams and you didnt let them have any time on the ball resulting in them not getting into your half and just pumping it long.

Talking to my mate most of you team comes from the academy but the confidence of the team just shows what can be achieved if you get a run going with young lads (something I wish would happens at Pools as thats what Colin Cooper is trying to do we just dont have a striker). The Clarke lad is a big fella and I can only think of you lumping the ball long twice (and they where clearances under pressure). You stretch the play with the players hugging the wings and a little lad think his name is Fleck just sits in the hole and sprays the ball about. I like the way your wide players are always looking to run at defenders and take a man on their final ball is of quality as well. I was impressed with your number 24 who was playing at centre back, although was told he is normally a full back, for a little guy reads the game very well and didnt look out of position once.

Well done for having overturned the-10 already and I think if you play like this and keep hold of the three players, Clarke, wilson and Christie, I can see you getting in the playoffs easy.

Wont be my last time at your place and know about all the problems and split with going to Northampton but good luck for the season.

Kind words and high praise. Also a good insight into the game. I checked the stats afterwards, they that 3 shots 0 on target. We had something like 15 shots not sure how many on target. We also had 59percent possesion so stats were very good

You're welcome at Sixfields just as long as you don't wear a Cov top to make SISU think they have an extra supporter!

We SMASHED them!

Best I have seen them play in years. Just a shame a few other supporters aren't seeing it.

There was a woman sat near me who I feel had the right idea, She supported the team and cheered them on wearing a shirt with the biggest SISU out on it you could see.

I saw her in the gantry when was getting a pie. Also my mate pointed out your Chairman was flitting about at half time chatting to people or as he called him the pantomime villain of Coventry.

How is that the right idea?

To be honest, its a positive atmosphere inside the ground. So the SISU out songs can stay on the hill as far as I'm concerned. Had enough 2/3 Seasons of going 1 - 0 up and then hearing SISU out straight after. Always thought it was weird how we never seemed to push on once the Anti SISU songs started... you would almost think it had an effect on the team!

You just don't get it, do you?

ZERO Coventry supporters in the stadium is the strongest possible message we can send to SISU and the Football league and the quickest way to put an end to this inexcusable charade.

ps you say 'the lads' need our support - well they seem to be doing perfectly well enough in front of one man and his dog, so your reasoning doesn't stack up.

I understand your point and dont want to get into the whole debate but as I cant get home to watch Pools as often as I want I like going to other matches around the area and as my mate supports Coventry I think I will be going again especially as you play very good football.

Just wish we where in the same division as you lot but with our chairman hiding behind the FFP and spitting his dummy out about council not selling him the ground we are sliding into the abyss. I think Hartlepool must be owned by the poorest oil company in the world.

Must say I've been to Rochdale and York this season watching Pools and it hasn't looked pretty....I put them on my accumulator on Saturday cos my dad promised me you've turned the corner after the Bradford battering....Desperately hope they don't go down this season.

The lads, local lads at that.Do the decent thing.Support the players not the regime. They need us more than ever.No negativity is having a huge effect on the confidence,Baker admitted all the booing and sisu out chants got to the players

Why is it that many that go to "home" games feel the need to justify their actions through having a pop at those who don't go. If you can't see the bigger picture then fine - but if you are taking some kind of sporting purest moral high ground, then don't as is smacks of naiivety. You are not Uber fans - we all love the club as much as you do!

My mates son (he's 25) came out the ground yesterday stating that at least he was helping to pay the players wages! - give me strength

Very true, we are trying to play football and it will come eventually I just hope not to late. Its a confidence thing and at the weekend we played well first half but went a goal down then reverted to just banging it long. We showed we can play against bradford when we score first but thats the problem at the moment. We need a win next weekend and feel if we do we will go on a run as all the young lads need confidence. If we go down it will be then for us and I cant see us getting into the league for a long time if this happens.

Fuck me... words Pot, Kettle and Black come to mind!!

How many months have the fans that chose to show the team their support have been called "Scabs" e.t.c???
Plus, why you getting all defensive for?? Have I said anything here about fans choosing to stand on the hill? Pretty sure that I am talking about the songs that people were singing at a time we were on a high that dropped the atmosphere like a stone.

And I ain't "Justifying my actions" to you or anyone on here. I go to watch the team because its MY CHOICE. Plus.... £2 parking and a £5 double cheeseburger what a bargain!!

Why are you being so naiive and justifying your actions. If you wish to go then go. Not sure about pots and kettles as you don't me - but for info I was one of those who used to have a pop at the boo boys. When I go I support the team, and like I said there are no Uber fans.

Yes of course its your choice to go - so stop justifying your actions as it comes across as being naiive. As for pots and kettles etc.. you don't me, and I take it that you infer that those who don't attend are all people who moan and boo at players. For info, I go to watch and support the team, and used have a go at the boo boys as it does affect players. There were many I spoke to outside yesterday who came across as similar types. As I said, none of us are uber fans.

Baker is on public record as saying he wants to be playing at the Ricoh. Moussa this week has stated he loved playing at the Ricoh, and playing at Sixfields is like a pre season game. Yesterday was the lowest 'home' gate in the clubs history, clear evidence that the overwhelming majority of fans are rock solid in their refusal in buying into Fisher's lunacy. There are simply not going to be enough fans going, to ever make this move other than a complete disaster for the club's future prospects. Financial fair play means sooner or later the club will end up having to pay peanuts, and if you pay peanuts you end up with ......

That was me with the SISU out shirt. I'm sorry if I have to justify my actions to anyone but I just cannot give up watching my team. I literally have to force myself through the turnstile. Yes our team should be playing in Coventry, for some the travelling is too much I understand that, for others it is about not wanting to give Sisu any funds. Having talked to Fisher face to face I get the impression that he is going to give up anytime soon.

Jan, were you chatting to him yesterday??

Not yesterday. I have the previous home games. As I was not able to get to any of the forums I was ready to give him the benefit of the doubt, but after 2 five minute conversations I have decided I do not believe most of what he says

Yeah was listening to Talksport on Saturday and it sounded like you should have been 2 up after half hour. There's some good young players there in Baldwin, Duckworth, Bradley etc, just need a bloody striker! Howard is dog shit, needs to go. I think there are worse teams down there, fingers crossed you'll put a run together sooner rather than later!

Cheers for that. We should have been 1-0 as we had a shot cleared and was well over the line, we just fell apart second half. I agree Howard is a waste of a wage and he has the turning speed of an oil tanker and looks like he is running in treacle.

To be fair that is where you are wrong.
last season when we were winning and doing well the Sisu out chants were very Rare.
I mentioned to my brother that if sisu understood football fans then they would have seen this.
When the team is winning and doing well the chants are positive however if you are on a losing streak then they turn against you the manager and the players that is the norm throughout football it is not exclusive to Cov.

Happy Fans Happy Chants........
