Afternoon all, after reading the fourms for a few months now i have finnaly had the time to sign up, been a season ticket holder for five years and for once i am actually feeling positive about the season under Andy Thorn as long as we can sign a decent striker to partner Juke.

:welcome: Hi , agreed I am hoping for better than the last couple of seasons, I concur about the requirement for a second decent striker to partner the Duke, lot of namses bandied about but as tey no signings, that said it is still early yet and as someone said a couple of days ago last seasons early signings were in a word rubbish.

Hello and welcome mate. Completely agree that we need another striker, really I'd even say 2. Let Freddy and ROD go, then bring in a couple to go with Juke and Platt (to be used as a last resort when we go long ball when chasing a game).

I know i'm probably the only one that thinks this, but when played upfront Freddy does score goals. He's a confidence player and I think this system will suit him down to the ground. I can see him and McSheffrey linking up really well with one-two's etc.

I actually like freddy dunno why theres so much hate for him on here just cause he doesnt score when having to come of the bench all the time

Totally agree mate. Freddie started the season like a man possessed and then got injured and couldn't get back in.

I, like many fans, was extremely excited when we signed Freddie from Wolves for around £1.2m. At the time, I read a few threads on the old 606 Wolves link. They were all saying then that he was rubbish etc, etc, and they were glad to be rid of him. I thought it was just sour grapes that we had got him from our local rivals so to speak, but I have to say, I have been very disappointed in his performances. He has one or two flashes of genius but blows hot and cold all too often for my liking. I still hold on to the hope that he will one day turn it all round for us, but we'll see.
Welcome to the forums by the way!

Exactly! I think if he's kept in the team he'll score goals.

(He needs to as I think it's the last year of his contract).

The first piece of sense on about freedy i also think he is a good striker which scores goals and i always look forward to games when he plays i think he is gonna be great next season if given the chance we dont need another striker. and also i like clive platt he is acctuly agood player and he played really well against middlesbrough when he filled in for marlon

It feels like Groundhog Day repeating this info, but in case you missed it.

Freddie Eastwood has scored 17 goals in 108 games for us. Before that it was 3 in 31 for Wolves. That's one in seven games at this level. He was last prolific in a league below this level and that was five years ago, so quite why there seems to constantly be some romantic notion that he'll suddenly produce now when he has yet to do so under his past five managers and never at this level, I have no idea. Strikers are judeged on more than goals but this one is lazy and has no team ethic either , offering nothing else other than a supposed goal threat. He has zero pace, no arial ability and no workrate. In fairness he can shoot and does possess a decent first touch, but that's nowhere near enough.

He cost us £1.2m and is reported to be on £12k p/w. I would love him to prove me wrong I really would, but currently if anyone is foolish enough to want to take him off our hands this pre-season then I'll happily drive him there for free.

Eastwood is a fucking waste of pitch. It's nonsense about him being on the bench every game. He gets a goal every ten games or so, then he is given a start. He then proceeds to hugely disappoint, time after time. He's had enough chances, time to get rid. He's gash.

have to agree with some of you about eastwood, i would love to see him do well and it wil be a big season for him, dont think he is the answer to work along side juke but wouldnt mind seeing him play behind the front 2 in the dimond formation.
