Mr Brody (5 Viewers)

Since he seems to believe in being 'totally open' with all the fans he hasn't really had much to say on the very significant events that are taking place currently has he?

Or perhaps this 'openness' thing was nothing more than a PR con all along.

I didn't realise Twitter didn't work in Russia, he's no further away in Russia than he is when he's at home. You won't hear a thing from him you don't know already or you couldn't guess anyway I assure you.

I think he's definitely got a thick skin to deal with some of the comments that he receives! Brody seems to be kept in the dark over a lot of details with the club so I'm not to sure whether he's the best person to promote the policy of openness.

Last I checked both electricity and the internet had both reached Russia and I am sure a techno like Brody would be in touch if wanted to be. I am sure that as a share holder Dulieu has kept him informed of events. Probably knows that if he says anything he will be asked a million questions most of which he would be unable to answer due to confidentiality at these early stages of negotiations and maybe just for once has decided that saying nothing would be better than saying too much.

not being funny but do you not think the guy might have a life outside of CCFC and twitter. He doesnt get paid by the club and has to earn a living. Not as if the topic has been around for days now is it. I am sure he will comment in due course but dont expect much because it will all be subject to contractual & board obligations, which is the norm in these situations.

Thats the trouble with Twitter everyone expects instant replies.......... there are other things in life going on

He's being kept in the dark because he's some Canadian idiot that knows absolutely nothing about football, he was on BBC C&W the other week talking about us signing 'franchise' players! Now what the hell is that meant to mean? It seems to me he's being paid to take flack on Twitter which would otherwise be aimed the the board. This openness thing doesn't exist, it's a myth. They wern't open about the transfer embargo were they? Were they open about the completely bizare deal that took Conor Thomas to Liverpool? They were 'open' enough to tell us all King 'verbally' agreed a new contract, are they being open about potential new signings to replace him and other key players that have left the club?

If he doesn't get paid, is he just doing it for something to do?

The only other thing about Twitter is that people can only comment about things they want to, so it is all well and good coming out straight away to slate Marlon King or Ray Ranson but then not being about when something big happens.

Transparency means all of the time surely, not just whenever they can put a good spin on it.

His nationality and working knowledge of the sport are irrelevant. He's not picking the team or scouting players, he's on the business side of the coin.

If theres somethimg going on behind the scenes bearing in mind what happened last time I would prefer he kept quiet until its concrete.

He's on the board for crying out loud! He'd have a say in matters related to the manager, potential transfers and everything else. The reason we're in this is because of idiots like Brody in positions of power that clearly know absolutely nothing about football. Letting Scott Dann go for 2 million quid for instance! A football man like Ranson obviously knew that was a ridiculous thing to do that's why Hoffman had to talk him out of resigning!

Then Hoffman himself walked because of the decision to let Conor Thomas go, it was a board decision, a board that Brody was sitting on!

To be fair to him, when selling a business like CCFC in this example your not going to make it public. Especically after the King incident where they made it public and then things turned sour. But i know what you mean we all want to be kept in the loop, but these days it doesn't work like that, football has become a lot more professional both on and off the field.

Exactly, unless your somebody like AFC Wimbledon who started their own club and the board is made up of fans then it's going to be like any other club who do things behind closed doors. I don't object to that, it's the ridiculous notion of openness that Brody tries to sell everybody that does my head in!

Ah yes, Ranson the retconned hero of the hour. The football man who hand-picked Aidy Boothroyd!

Without business acumen, there's no club. A board full of 'football' people is all well and good if you're in a position to make decisions purely on that basis, but we're at least £40m short of that position.

You can criticise him for knowing nothing about football, how on the other hand how much do you or any of us know about running a football club?

It'd be great to keep all our prospects, offer big contracts and turn down offers, but there's a reason we lose players and it's not because someone thinks Keiren Westwood's an expendable goaltender in the 2-point zone.

Ranson wasn't without fault, I've said that many times but he definately had the rug pulled from under him by Sisu who promised him money that never arrived.

The Hoff has business acumen but he's also a football fan and would know what he was talking about, why one or the other? I just don't understand how Brody could be in a position to make football related decisions yet know absolutely nothing about it? Bizarre things like Conor Thomas being loaned out happen as a result of those things.

Everybody knows we're going to lose players, every Championship club does but be patient, dig in and get a fair price! 2 million for Scott Dann when Cardiff sold Roger Johnson to exactly the same club at the exact same time for 5?

I'm not saying it has to be one or the other, as I'm not criticising a financially-successful entrepreneur on the board for not having intricate knowledge of catenaccio or Gigg Lane.

Losing Conor Thomas wouldn't have been a football decision, it'd be a 'we need cash from somewhere' decision with football having to take a backseat.

Whatever Ransons judgement in hiring Coleman & Aidy, he also hired Thorn. The utter conviction in his voice that Thorn was the man was unmistakeable. He was as passionate in his tone when he spoke about him as he was filled with disguist when he spoke about SISU. Thorn and Ranson go back years. He knew the team at least would be in safe hands. And he got rid of Aidy and put Thorn in charge because he thought the long ball game had lost the dressing room. To an extent, the football under Thorn was what Ranson had expected him to deliver, so we do owe him that at least.

As for Brody..he has got pretty good at his job, but this is an area where he can't really get involved. Confidentiality, etc.

Transparency? I think we can all see right through it..:p

Ah yes, Ranson the retconned hero of the hour. The football man who hand-picked Aidy Boothroyd!

Except he didn't want Boothroyd. It was a split decision from the board.

Dion dublin was at my work a few weeks ago, and I asked him how close he came to replacing Aidy, and his words were that he was a lot closer to becoming manager before Aidy.

He said he applied for the job and got an interview, and said the decision was made by 5 people. 2 of which (including Ranson) wanted him, and 3 others wanted Boothroyd for his experience.

The club went with the majority vote, and the rest is history.

Ironically dion said that the way Thorn had them playing was exactly what he wanted them to do, he spoke highly of Clingan and Mcsheff, and said with players as good as them you have to play the ball on the floor

So after being overlooked for the job, Dublin tells us he would have done things great? Much like after Ranson has gone he tells us he would have had Liverpool's £55m young English signings signed up?

Forgive me if I'm sceptical, but we seem to believe the things we want to hear. The Telegraph was a steaming pile of lies to most people here until they reported about Hoffman's apparent bid yesterday.

The point wasnt about Dublin and what he would or wouldnt have done, it was more to point out thati n his eyes Ranson didn't want Boothroyd, or at least had to be talked into his appointment.

There was no reason for Dublin to say this, he couldve easily just said management isnt for him or something and no-one wouldve batted an eyelid

Looks like Leonard Brody has failed in his attempt to get onto the Football League board. This from July 5 Guardian sports pages....

"From Leeds United's ancient history to its present-day chief executive, Shaun Harvey, who has won the Championship representative's seat on the Football League board. The place became available after David Sheepshanks left Ipswich Town; his resignation from the club's board was confirmed at Companies House last Thursday. Harvey won eight of the 19 valid votes cast, one more than Bristol City's Colin Sexton. Karl Oyston, the Blackpool owner, received three with Coventry City's Leonard Brody one. Harvey now has a platform from which to push his strong opinions about youth-development issues. He is also a supporter of Championship plans to introduce a Uefa-style financial fair play system, which dominated the League's summer conference in Cyprus last month. John Nixon, of Carlisle United, has taken up the League One position on the board after Colchester United's Peter Powell stepped down."

It's no bad thing. He needs to concentrate on helping to sort out the messy situation at Coventry City. Being on the Football League board would be an unnecessary distraction.

Why would they have somebody on the board who lives the other side of the world?

Perhaps someone could give me a list of clubs that have a majority of "football people" on the board. People are on boards of football clubs because they've invested in them, and Brody is no different. He wants to see the value of his investment grow, so he takes an interest in the financial side of the club. Having met the guy, he's very much concerned that the club has potential to increase the commercial side of the income - to support the team.
By the way, when Dann was sold, and when Thomas went to L'pool, he wasn't on the board. He only came on after Ranson & Hoffman left.

sorry but company house says it was 11/01/11. He may have been an advisor (i dont know) to the club before then but legally had no decision making power before he became a director 11/01/11 SBSL Group and 07/02/11 for CCFC

He is very quiet lately after all the promises and spin he was building up when King went. Will he comment about Gunnar?

I have just read this he said about Joe Elliott

He had decided to work with a competitor...you can't have it both ways. nothing personal. I like Joe
