Quick recap on today's transfer goss- earnshaw looks set to join Cardiff along with gunnar. We couldn't afford Phillips and are looking to bring in loan strikers.
I reckon we've got about £1.5m to spend with t sell on from Dann and compo for gunnar - where do people see this money going - I think a strikers t biggest priority but it doesn't look like we can compete on wages so who do we go for?

Tbh since we're skint a season long loan of a quality PL striker would be the way to go imo. Pay the wages we were offering Marlon as a contribution towards a top drawer player that we otherwise couldn't afford.

Less risk involved and adds the quality we need. The only concern with this route is that we may have to start the season with what we have and then get after someone who has missed out on the 25 man Premiership squads that are announced at the end of August.

The only thing that concerns me about going this route, is if things are going well, the board may not sanction investment in that identified player we clearly need and if they are not going well, then the crowd will already be restless and discontented which will transfer to the pitch.

We are fine defensively, so just need to concentrate on the attacking areas. We need 2 strikers and a midfielder IMO.
I'd like to see us go for someone like Gary Gardner on loan from Villa for the midfield position and then up front, maybe Le Fondre on a permanent deal and another Prem loanee - Benik Afobe (Arsenal), Andreas Weimann (Villa), Milan Lalkovic (Chelsea), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool) or Connor Salmon (Wigan).

id be shocked if we had that much to spend way the team is falling apart i dunno where AT gonna get replacements seems this the worst budget for a coventy manager yet, we need a striker no doubts what kind of a striker we can afford tho is another question with gunner going might free up some wages so we might be able to get a decent striker i think.

Gunner, Westy and King must have freed up some money, plus we can only hope Scott Dann get sold for a mega deal so can use that as well, but I guess some will be ploughed back to the club finances

It's the only feasible route when you're as skint as us.

And too be fair we've had a few decent ones in recent years.

Really? Like who? Henderson maybe, but I'm struggling after that!

Don't forget they come with loan fees and wages contributions. Wouldn't we be better off signing good out of contract young players, making them better, then selling them for a profitt? We spend roughly the same money, but make some at the end, plus get a much more comitted player to boot. Gotta be a more positive investment, surely?

I wonder if we see the availability of wages saved the same way as the Board & SISU. Something tells me they see this as an opportunity to drive down the wages costs not that it becomes all available to sign new players.

Also wonder if we cant afford Phillips how will we afford premiership striker wages, even if they are second string? Really not holding my breath in anticipation of any signings that excite me.

sadly it will offset alot of the debt we have, i agree with rob a good loanee is the way to go. We need to replace like for like with king in terms of quality. Sadly this is the only way we will survive!

I think the situation is more that Thorn thought about Phillips and has now thought he is not for us.

Sisu youve made my club a joke. Weve gone from doing all we can to keep King, Westwood, Gunner by offering lucrative contracts to AT has the same transfer budget as last year (approx 1mil) to We're looking at a Franchise premiership striker to build the team around. We've now lost all three players who were important first team players and scraping the barrel for a couple of loans when the other club assess them as not good enough.

We dont expect millions to be spent Sisu but we do expect honesty, investement and a will to build a team that will improve.
You don't seem to fit of any of these. The little money you have invested in players you then recouped by selling them as soon as you can make a profit and not replace them.

Ive got to ask the question why you bothered saving our club from admin when you quite clearly dont want to invest in it.
We would of been better going into Admin like Leicester and starting again with a board and owner who had the interests of the club at heart instead of their own pockets.

GET OUT NOW and let the Hoff run the club as he cant do any worse and at least he's a fan

Hasnt Hoffman got to make a decent written bid, with proof of investment, before they even thiink of selling? Since the big PR on the alleged takeover nothing has been said anywhere... curious that isnt it?

sisu wont accept any offer until they have got as much season ticket money in as possible aswell as the scott dann money we will receive.

any take over is not going to happen in a hurry. It only became news last week and no formal offer has been made as yet. There is no point to being impatient about it, these things take time. Has nothing to do with season ticket sales, those have to be sold simply to keep the club going. As for scott dann well he hasnt been sold and unless he is sold to a cash buyer then i suspect any money we get will be dependent on stage payments so wont all come at once

As for administration like Leicester - well we werent in the same position we didnt have any assets to hang a deal like theres on because we dont own the ground. What the club have done is offer the best deals they can within the means they have available to pay but it wasnt enough because others can pay more. In the end this is all about money despite people bemoaning lack of loyalty etc and we dont have much/any!- get used to the fact that we dont have money , we have to get our costs down because our income is poor, We do not have the money to spend, we have to reduce our losses (new league rules will make that mandatory) I understand the passion of wanting our team to do well but I think some need a reality check and to temper their expectations.

Finally GH or the investors he fronts for will want to get a viable club not a bottomless money pit......... what makes anyone think that GH & co might not have to adopt a tight financial regime and sell our better players to keep going? that they might not be able to afford the big players or big wages also ? We are in the deep financial mire who ever owns the club and you can be certain that what can be done will never match what fans want/dream done
