CET From the horses mouth:
"It's a big season for me, especially now that Marlon has gone," said the former Everton player, who revealed he received an unexpected ego boost in the close season when he was linked with interest from his home-town club Southampton, Bristol and Millwall.

"I know that the manager has said that it is time for me to step up. He has given me the No.9 which I am very happy about and I am looking forward to kicking on from last year.

"Getting the number is a nice touch from the manager and little bit of support and statement because he feels that I can kick on to the next level.

"He has also said he is going to play me as a central striker the whole time because a lot of time last season I was pushed out onto the wing or left side of midfield at times, so it will be nice to just play down the middle."

Fair enough living in Derbyshire makes getting the telegraph hard also I am guessing story is not online yet. A good move in my eyes! He should be the main striker , now just bring in a few players to make us stronger in that area! Which Thorn will do!

Good move putting pressure on the kid by making him the number 9?

Bearing in mind his history and goal scoring record at this club (and more importantly his confidence) I'd have given it Mcsheffrey. You need confidence to wear this shirt.

Good move by AT if true. I am quitely optimistic about this season. I think alot of our players are going to thrive under AT

What am I supposed to do with my Number 11 brand new shirt that I got a few weeks ago - I am getting depressed about the club now, I think JukeBox is great but at the moment he is not good enough to replace Marlon.

I think he could surprise people next season, but putting the pressure on by giving him the no 9 is not fair on the lad.

i don't think it's putting pressure on at all - it's instilling confidence and showing that AT thinks he can do the job. Someones got to wear the number 9 shirt and it might as well be our current best striker
