It's bollocks, the JR is keeping them silent and blah, blah, it all an excuse..

Well if that is the case, time will tell, won't it? They weren't particularly quiet before then in the face of SISU PR, were they?

I tend to agree. As I said it never stopped them releasing almost daily statements throughout the summer.

I love how we draw 100% opposite conclusions from the same thing.

was it not the case that their legal advisers told them to stop making statements or talking to the press until after the JR? didn't the council say something to the effect of it being frustrating that they couldn't respond to SISU statements?

Time could tell you a lot of things the question is how long you got?

I am just highlighting that a few posters have said today and in the past that ACL cannot say anything because the Council has the JR hanging over their heads.. It's all rubbish.

Where did you read that? Post up a link. Would settle the argument as to why ACL have been quiet once and for all.

I don't know, missed it if they did. Well, we're not going to hear anything until December then.

I'm sure the JR appeal has something to do with it but I imagine there are ways round it. They could easily give an interview and avoid all those embarrassing difficult questions as JS apparently did. :D At one time ACL were constantly releasing statements, although the original JR was hanging over their heads. For example, they were going to sue NTFC, weren't they? What happened to that?

I don't know dear chap. But what I do know is that I heard Ann Lucas on Shane O'Connor's programme one morning skirting around questions; then stating that she was uncomfortable with any questions that sailed close to the JR hearing as the council's clear advice from their legal team was to maintain silence.

They're going to do it to maintain the sanctity of their position. I mean Mr Justice Males was unequivocal about the facts wasn't he; and ACL will know they have a water-tight case heading toward this folly of an appeal. They're not going to jeopardise that one iota by being found in contempt.

As for the SISU side, and their sanctity of court procedure, just remind me of that TXU Corp case can you?

Please realise Les Reed is a responsible journalist doing a great job IMHO!
He's probing and asking all the right questions and his interview with JS was very interesting, it's a great pity that the 'silence ' from CCC & ACL is almost deafening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ignore the abuse and continue to keep us as informed as you possibly can, long may you continue.
maybe they can stay silent and let sisu and their supporters keep digging a massive hole.

As above; I heard it. It was Ann Lucas on Shane O'Connor. I'll have a look on YouTube. However, she was 100% certain in what she said

I can't view that I am at work (lunch technically).

Okay lets say for a moment your right like Torch said why release a statement about the administrative procedure run by Paul Appleton and the suing of NTFC?

I'd love to see that if you could..

Here you go:

Joint statement from CounAnn Lucas, Leader of Coventry City Council, and Coun John Blundell, Leader of the Opposition, Coventry City Council:
“For the past few months the threat of litigation has fettered the Council. We’ve been unable to speak out about this issue or talk about the reasons why we’ve taken the decisions we have. That’s been very difficult for us all; we know how important the Ricoh Arena and the Sky Blues are to Coventry people and how desperate people are for us to do what we can to find a solution.

that was their statement when the original JR was thrown out, I would assume while the appeal is in progress the same applies

And here is the link to the CT article I got the quote from:

I heard the very same interview with Ann Lucas on BBC CW - makes perfect sense not to keep reaffirming their position again and again prior to a Judicial review.

I can't answer that, but there may be an answer lurking in the silence imposed by the JR process. I can assure you the link I have provided is absolute in it's proof, as if 'chiefdave's quote above

I'm not sure why Les thinks that michael should resign. Resign from what? Normally people are asked to resign when they do a poor job in their position of employment. Michael works as a researcher at the Uni of Warwick so I don't see any reason why his involvement in NOPM should cause him to resign from his job. If anyone should be resigning from their job, it is Les Reid for his puff piece on Joy and his statement that SISU should be given the freehold.

That's what I've been thinking. They've certainly said things/released things in the past even while the original JR was in force.

A few people on here seem to be mixing up ACL and the council. The judicial review is aimed at the council, not ACL.

Before anyone jumps up and down in delight I am seeing a quote from Leader of Coventry Council Ann Lucas, can you show me where that inlcudes ACL like I mentioned below?

Time could tell you a lot of things the question is how long you got?

I am just highlighting that a few posters have said today and in the past that ACL cannot say anything because the Council has the JR hanging over their heads.. It's all rubbish.

Statements have been released by ACL in the past regarding many things with the JR hanging over the Council's head, however I don't see one line in that quote that says ACL have not been able to discuss the issues at hand.

I'll go one better:

"Joint statement from CounAnn Lucas, Leader of Coventry City Council, and Coun John Blundell, Leader of the Opposition, Coventry City Council:
“For the past few months the threat of litigation has fettered the Council. We’ve been unable to speak out about this issue or talk about the reasons why we’ve taken the decisions we have. I have highlighted the key parts no mention of ACL once in that whole quote yet as far as I know it, Anne Lucas isn't a board member of ACL..

They've both been very quiet though. As I said during the summer there were more or less daily statements from one or the other.

A few people on here seem to be mixing up ACL and the council. The judicial review is aimed at the council, not ACL.

Don't disgaree MMM and take your word for it however Anne Lucas IMO was speaking for the Council not ACL who have been making the statements.

True. But there's an association, of course; and ACL's directors will be careful in what they say, so as not to jeopardise the council's position

They said things before, but since then have been advised not to. That is why it all came to a halt.

I agree. The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Look at his recent tweets; he's seemingly fixated. I don't know whether my primary reaction is one of confusion, or embarrassment?!?

He's a journalist of some repute, I understand; but his re-tweeting of any messages in his support, or those who castigate his detractors seems a bit out of kilter with the 'crime' committed

Couldn't agree more, it seems the fact that his 'World Exclusive ' with Joy wasn't met with universal acclaim has really irked him. Most of the criticism seemed to me to be proportionate and fair, and his continual twitter rant seems just embarrassing.

JR will be dismissed (again) shortly, won't it? If you weren't so entrenched in your views maybe you could appreciate that could mean a resumption in ACL PR. Or maybe they've been quiet for so long as for the last few months Fishbone Cash has been telling us that SISU have "moved on" from The Ricoh?

You're correct but I would be very surprised if CCC were taking legal advise and then not relaying it to ACL given that they have a 50% stake in ACL.

I think that's a pretty dead certainty NLHWC, I'll be surprised if they gain anything from the JR.

Do you think that ACL believe CCFC/SISU have moved on from the Ricoh? Betting man would say no.

To get back to the subject of this thread!

We can't seen anything on here that suggests Michael has personally abused or bullied anyone, or defended his right to do so.

So Les Reid has lost the plot.
