13 oct v sheff u - time to put up or shut up!

ok, let's put all the nonsense of the last couple of days behind us and start getting back to the important stuff -

I have identified 2 possible edge of (cov) city centre venues where we could have the game on a big screen and where kids are welcome. Downside is there may have to be a charge - something like £5 which will cover costs with any surplus going to Alzheimer's Society in recognition of Jimmy Hill's current situation (and my mum had Alzheimer's so I know what a horrible illness it is and am always keen to support AS).

But...I am hearing of two other big screen events in cov but as I understand it neither will be able to allow under 18s (one of my major concerns is what's happening to the next generation of City fans).

Kev Kelly will still organise something at Northampton for 13 October that will get media coverage for our plight but avoids any potential confrontation between City fans.

And of course many people will choose to watch the game at home or at their usual pub/club.

So I need to know whether to go ahead with a kcic edge of city centre event with a possible £5 charge to cover costs and any surplus going to Alzheimer's Society. will be my house for me. If i was gonna waste time and petrol going to sixfields i'd probably go in rather than seeing a quarter of the pitch

same here. 1st visit for me as i think numbers are important on the hill for this one. as someone else said on another thread we need more on the hill than in the ground. perhaps you could organise someone on the hill with a bucket collecting for Alzheimer's Society Michael. i would gladly put the "home" ticket cost in, its only right considering i'll be watching for free and its a great way to show appreciating for all that jimmy did for our great club.

Totally agree, I'm not missing this opportunity.
I'm rallying a few more people to come on the hill.

The Sky cameras are situated where you can see one side of the hill.
Stand there all game, in colour, banners etc

First 'visit' for me (haven't told the missus yet). Looking forward to The Hill. Hoping the weather holds out for us (wimp, or what!) so numbers are at a max.

You have never been to the hill have you? You can see all of the pitch from different parts of hill and form one point you see two thirds of playing area.
Yes, sit at home and do nothing while your team dies.

tbf at this rate it'll be 5 on the hill, 5 walking out, 5 watching on a big screen in Coventry... and the rest spread between whatever other protest ideas pop up(!) so a protest of tea and scones round Fry-CCFCs house might end up being one of them at this rate!

If the hill wasn't there,would you still protest at sixfields knowing you wouldn't be able to see any of the game unless you paid to get in.

No, I would not as would not get able to see any of the game. Would have to find something else to do. However, the games switch to Saturdays soon so more options available.
I like the vast majority will not go into Sixfiields.

If this is Frys view, and what he wants to do, then let him. I'm sure he's not 'doing nothing while his club dies'.

In other words lets not admit you can see the whole pitch and pretend you can't.

I assume "the hill" is the one in front of McDonald's and the dodgy oriental buffet? It's a long way from the action but you can see most of the ground from there.

Surely if you wanted to protest you would do it right outside the main stand that in turn would get maximum exposure if done peacefully and constructively.

So not just a free view, because I could watch it at home.

I have been offered free tickets and said no thanks. Will not go in even if I were paid the £17 to enter.
I can watch the game for free and make my own private protest, to me its morally wrong for us to be playing there. If we don't do something we will be playing in Northampton girl a lot longer than 5 years.

It's my choice as it's anyone who wants to go in, my view is its wrong but will not insult anyone who foes not agree.

truthfully its took me this long to decide if i am going to go to the hill, full stop. the reason I've decided too is because of the coverage it will get on live TV that will be watched by football fans everywhere, not just ccfc fans. i truly believe that their needs to more fans on the hill then in the ground on this occasion to make a statement and if i sit on my arse at home hoping something is going to change then i cant complain if it doesn't. will i go back to the hill again after the Sheffield game if the TV cameras aren't there? truthfully i still don't know. maybe i will make my mind up after the Sheffield game experience.

personally i will not be going just for the chance to watch a free game, but it will be a bonus. if anyone is going just to watch the game for free i say fair play too them, NOPM.

(edit) just to add, i wont be calling anyone scab and neither will i stand by or look the other way if i hear anyone doing it. my beef is with shitsu not other ccfc fans even if i think they have their heads up their arses for handing their money over to shitsu, thus justifying the move to sixfields.

Honestly, i'm happy supporting the NOPM campaign by just not going to games rather than going to a "protest picnic". It's also easier to just stay at home and watch the match on tv or listen on the radio and it saves money on petrol. People who go to the games are supporting the team and fair enough to them but people who go to the hill to protest with around 50 others are just pissing away money when in the long run, it's staying away from the games not going to the hill that will help get us back. So, save money rather than attending pointless tiny protests that will inevitably get us nowhere and just stay at home. That is smart and saves you money. You're Welcome
