Cardoza - We Want City For As Long As Possible (5 Viewers)

Northampton Chairman Wants City To Stay

Northampton Town Chairman David Cardoza has said that he wants Coventry City playing at Sixfields for as long as possible.
Speaking at a fans forum along with Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd who admitted that Roy O'Donovan's confidence is low and the injury to Clive Platt has affected them, Cardoza, when asked if he would like to see City playing at Northampton for the next five years, said "The longer the better. We make money out of it."

Someone tell me this guy isn't as crass as this statement would lead you to believe.

Its all about increasing your revenue, that owning your stadium offers. Very simple.

I would be in agreement except like the majority of clubs, Northampton Town lease their ground.

A football club being taken away from its community is wrong. To openly embrace it and wish for it to continue is disgusting.

If you want to capitalise on another club's problems and make a quick buck then I can understand coming out with the 'we're here to help at this difficult time' line. Not this though.

This bull-doza has got away with quite a lot. If people are talking about new ways of protesting maybe some should be aimed his way? Maybe try and get northampton fans involved?

Exactly this. I hope even more that they get relegated now.

It's a cushy number for him. Extra revenue and without that many people making ass grooves in the seats.

Good one with the 'bull-doza'!!! LOL! How about Cardozonelayer* or Cardiganwearer** as well?!?!

(*For this to work you need to use the analogy that Earth is Sisu, Cardoza is the ozone layer, ACL is the sun, and we - the fans - are the toxic gasses that can damage the ozone layer. So if we keep up our toxic gasses (protests) we can create a hole in the ozone layer (Cardoza's Northampton deal) which will allow the sun's (ACL's) radiation to flow through and destroy Earth (Sisu)!)

(**I'm a cardigan wearer and I often get called a c*** by random people that I don't know).

In an ideal world we could get them involved but the past few weeks he taught us this is our fight, we are on our own. Other supporters are prepared to be sympathetic but when they are due to play us they will still support their team and not boycott for just 1 game.

I may be wrong but was it Preston who actually encouraged their supporters by offering deals so they could get more away fans than us 'home' fans

well if they do get relegated Cardoza is still sitting pretty his stadium costs are covered by ccfc so he will not b so exposed by relegation and they would be be Billy big times in the conference

Would Cardoza prefer to be relegated or NOT to be relegated? I want whichever one he doesn't want to happen.

What do the rules say? I assumed our games being flung around the calendar was their mandate.

Rules say the higher placed team gets priority on fixtures.

At least he doesn't even bother with that 'helping out another club in need' 'Mr Football' bs.
Knowing what this move has done to this club and it's fans, Cardoza must rank as one of the scummiest lowlife chairmen in football at the moment. A disgrace to NTFC.

Woah, slow down there. Are we not forgetting our own owners that put us there? He is still technically just looking after his own interests after all.

It is frustrating what he is saying though. He may as well say "yh take as long as you like building your new stadium, you can stay here for as loooooooong as you like!"

Shows what a total money-grabbing prick Cardoza is, as if we didn't know it.

Pity, cos I always quite liked NTFC as a club, given their kindness to our older, clumsier players many of whom I still remember with affection. ;)

This thread is about Cardoza. He presented himself as some sort of football loving saviour, we always knew it was just about the money. Something he is now gleeful about with no pretence of giving a shit about us or football at all. The guy is a scum bag of the first order.

I know what you mean, I was just saying ultimately it is not his fault that this has happened. Why should he really care about coventry at the end of the day?

Which makes it even more weird that our own fans don't want their own club to have anything to do with the Ricoh.

I think all of us want CCFC to own the ground. We just don't trust Sisu owning it.

Hold on, I thought the consensus was that CCFC didn't need to own the ground? Forgive me, I remember now, there are some who'd rather see us liquidated aren't there than return to Coventry with SISU.

As it doesn't look like SISU are going anywhere, it looks like we'll be stuck in Northampton, which I presume you and others find more palatable than coming home to the Ricoh with our present owners?

They don't need to own the ground, however it is obvious that owning the whole freehold would be better.

Its a bit like a Granny thinking she needs a Ferrari to go shopping once a week, when in reality a Metro will do everything she needs.

Or a bit like fans hatred for our present owners being more important than the future of the Club?

Simple choice, Sixfields with sisu or the Ricoh with sisu and income for the Club?

Some prefer a third choice however. Oblivion.

There's no evidence to suggest oblivion though is there?

Let me put it another way, current situation or City back at the Ricoh in the Conference?
