How would you know whether it was only cov fans that voted, and not non cov fan Coventry residents or even rival fans on the wind up?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - so please excuse and spelling or grammar errors :)

Yes I can see lots of rival fans logging into the Coventry evening telegraph reading that article and voting.

I am sure you are one if the people in here who laugh at so called conspiracy theorists.

Well now you are one of them

Ha ha You're the biggest conspiracy theorist on here. So Pot. Kettle. Black. Spring to mind.

See you haven't denied that it could be non cov fan Coventry residents....so the vote wouldn't necessarily be the true picture of cov fans opinion...

So no point having a poll in the first place really.

I think you are right 1000 Villa fans and 2000 Leicester fans voted no.

They did that as they knew that is one way to really upset Cov fans

Not, really, although it gives a flavour of what people may think it's never gonna be 100%. Even the 15k petition wasn't all cov fans.

Why are you exaggerating my point? See you ignored the non cov fan Coventry residents point and just concentrating on rival fans. Hope it makes you feel big and clever....

So what if 1000 cov fans and 1000 non cov fan cov residents voted.

33% (660 cov fans)
66% (340 cov fans and 1000 non cov fan residents)

Does that mean the majority of cov fans are against it?

This is a textbook example of today's debating culture. It's been used all the time by politicians.

It takes three step
1) Create a (mostly false) image of the other person. (I am sure you are one of the people ...)
2) Couple the image to a general negative or outrageous figure(s). (Conspiracy Theorists)
3) Attack the created identity. (You are one of them)

So instead of debating the issue we are now spinned to debate if the person is a conspiracy theorists. And in this case the created identity is even portrayed as a hypocrit.

In a debate where time or space is limited (Live TV debate or even on a forum) it can be very difficult to defend effectively.

Possible but not likely. I don't think anyone actually gives a shit about us any more, Leicester and Villa certainly don't.

This site should be required reading for the majority on here: https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/

Edit: these are the worst offenders:

Strawman: https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/strawman

Creating an argument the other person never made, or misrepresenting their argument only for the purpose of defeating the imagined arugment.

Ad Hominem: https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/ad-hominem

Attacking the person making the claim rather than the claim itself. (I call this one "The Grendel" :p)

Tu Quoque: https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/tu-quoque

Or "You too" deflecting criticism of your own argument by making a criticism of the other person's argument.

Because the results indicated firmly that the majority opinion was about 33% 67% AGAINST SELLING THE RICOH TO SISU Reid has now

1) Removed the poll from the Coventry Telegraph Web Site
2) Posted on Twitter the result is invalid.
Keep Cov in Cov! ‏@NotOnePennyMore 2h
@Lesreidpolitics Keep forgetting to ask - what is result of Cov Tel poll on sale of ricoh? thx

Les Reid ‏@Lesreidpolitics 2h
@notonepennymore We all know how badly such online polls are manipulated. You could mutiple vote. Wasn't my idea. All for a proper survey

I'm sure it will now never be mentioned as it contradicts the viewpoint he expresses.

The cad! I imagine if the results had been reversed you would have been dismissing it as SISU propaganda anyway! As stated on another thread I managed to vote yes and no. Twice. And also from my phone.

Did the percentages change? Just because it gave you the voting buttons doesn't mean multi-vote was enabled. Not saying it wasn't possible, just I haven't seen the proof.

Also, don't invent arguments people didn't make to discredit them. It's silly and counter productive.

Yes, it is. True though.

Yes, percentages changed.

Will take your word for it.

Of course then we can have the argument about which side will vote more often and what that means. And round and round we go.

Edit: My initial scepticism was based on the fact that I tried voting Yes 4/5 times in quick succession with no change in result. If so then I am to blame :D

Just out of curiosity, what is good about having Sisu as owners?

I would describe it more as SISU are 100% evil. ACL aren't 100% good

Hmmm, I guess ACL appointed SP, signed the squad, and committed funds to the youth academy, and that's why we're doing so well.

See I'm not sure why he made a poll just to say they don't mean much.

Honest, guv. I used different browsers. And my phone was on my mobile network so it wouldn't "know" who I was anyway.

Will take your word for it.

I think suggesting the poll was infiltrated by rival fans is an exaggeration in its self leading to my pitched response.

If you think about it logically it will be a majority of Coventry City fans who have replied to the Poll.

As the majority of the people who would care enough to read all of that rehashed blurb would have to be someone with a passion for the club.

Problem is with polling its who do you ask and who's opinion do you listen to more?

For instance, should non football fan Coventrians have a greater say in this than City fans who don't live in Coventry?
