Lack Of Squad Depth (1 Viewer)

First off sorry for another "doom and gloom" post. I was just sat here thinking although all us fans are trying to put a positive spin on every bad situation we get thrown at us I can't help but think the second were hit with Injury's / suspensions next season were gonna be screwed ! You could say Gunnar can be replaced by Thomas, King by Eastwood, Westwood by Murphy but what about all the "squad" players we've lost ? Ie. Carsley, McinDoe, O'Halloran etc. I know we've got a fair few kids waiting in the wings but without sufficient cover for the first team I can see us being in for possibly our most heartbreaking championship season yet...

But as always, I'll remain positive and get behind our club.

Whatever Division you're in, you need cover for every position - in other words at least a 22-man squad. As I understand it, this is our best 22 players:

GK: Murphy, Dunn
RB: Keogh, Clarke
LB: Hussey, Cranie
CB: Turner, McPake, Wood, Cameron
DM: Clingan, Thomas
CM: Deegan, Bell, Ruffels, Birigimana
AM: McSheffrey, Baker
ST: Jutkiewicz, Eastwood, Platt, O'Donovan

So it looks like we can just about scrape a squad together. Obviously Cranie would be my first choice central defender, but he can also cover both full back positions as well as defensive midfielder. The three academy players in midfield are still teenagers - we desperately need a couple of midfielders. Upfront only Lukas Jutkiewicz inspires me - if he gets a long term injury then heaven help us!

I wouldn't completely write O'Donavan off just yet. We've hardly had a chance to judge him thus far!

you forgot Jeffers and Christie

:thinking about:Christie's another defender - I was trying to present a balanced squad with cover in every position.

If Jeffers is better than Platt or O'Donovan, then he can replace either of them gladly!:)

I quite liked Jeffers in his first few games, showed some good touch and determination, but he didn't look to have kicked-on from what I saw of him at Cheltenham. He might just yet be better than Platt or O'Roy, but that would probably be as much of an indictment of them as a it is eulogising him.

I don't think it looks that bad tbh, 1 or 2 midfield loans and a striker and we've got a decent side (depending on who the loans are).
