The statement is pretty poorly worded. But nobody can argue that for the long-term it is better to own the stadium and get revenues - Howver you do not need the freehold for that. It is infuriating how both sides seem to be "happy to talk" but nothing gets done. SISU need to drop the JR and to me that would prove they are willing to take a step in the right direction. Then it is up to the council. Until SISU drop the JR I see this as a pretty pointless statement and PR stunt.

This is very much a similar situation as a lot of residential properties. When you buy a house you may well own the leasehold of the property which gives you the rights to the property itself, whereas you will not own the freehold to the site which gives rights to the land and everything on it only once the leasehold has expired.

never buy a house leasehold i say, always go for the freehold.

I'm fast coming to the conclusion that the majority of Coventry City fans wil never be happy, whatever the club or team do.

As a long suffering supporter, I've seen many owners, chairman & managers come & go, along of course with players. Some I've ageed with and some I haven't but as a mere fan have never ever been in a position to choose our owners!

All those moaning and groaning about the present incumbents (SISU) would do well to reflect that changing may not be an improvement in either the long or short term, whoever they maybe (PH4 - Byng or anyone else) for that matter.

You may be right RFC. However, my only issue with SISU is that they have destroyed the Bond and trust between fans and the clubs owners. I actually agree PH4 and most certainly Byng could be as bad (No one could be worse) I said earlier today that SISU should never get the freehold, not at this stage anyway. They should be allowed access to all revenues and that may be by allowing them to buy into ACL. Giving them some better financial returns and allowing them to re-build some of the many bridges they blew up on their journey so far. In time, if they prove to be good owners, they should be allowed to buy the Freehold.
My problem is, I don't think that this approach fits into the SISU model of seek and destroy.

You are certainly right there Nick.

We all used to know when we played our home games. Now they could be on a Saturday or Sunday for a weekend game and Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for a midweek game depending on when our hosts are playing and when we played our last game and when our next one is.
