This time last year we were giving WBA a good game and in a friendly at home and we looked really capable of some good stuff.Aidy Bothroyd said all the right things and the optimism was growing large.
We began the season very well and kept it going for a while - not just a few short weeks. We didn't look like fading. Could it be our year?

Well what a difference a few months later?!!!

Now this season I feel a sense of optimism though not on the same scale and tempered by what's been happening with the lack of on field investment, the loss of 3 of our best players and a new 'unknown' manager 'on the cheap' at the helm.
Oh dear it sounds like relegation fodder right?

Yet for some reason particularly after what Thorn did the last 10 games of the previous season I don't feel doom and gloom or hold a giant pessimistic outlook.
Why exactly is that and how many of you feel the same?

I just think that we may be under 'the radar' this season and not start too strongly but be one of those getting stronger and maybe who knows...

Unless some kind of actual strengthening, not just replacing wat we've lost, is done, I'm not feeling to optimistic..... our squad seems to get worse yr by yr instead of better. No matter how good the manager is, crappy squad=crappy league position/relegation.

You have hit the nail on the head for me Paxman my friend, one of my mates is very straight talking and just keeps saying we are almost guaranteed to go down as we have let big players go and nobody has come in.

My only arguement is I have faith in Andy Thorn. I prefer it this way anyway as hopefully teams will underestimate us in games and we will quietly go about our business and let the players do the talking on the pitch.

Haven t yet given thorn the messiah status that others have. Give him 20 competetive games first. Really for me i try and not let emotion get in the way. So as it stands anything from 14 th downwards with relegation a real threat depending on off the field stuff

Hi Fellas,
I suppose in a lot of cases, the optimism directed at the Sky Blues, is nothing more that "Football withdrawl"Having been starved of our weekly tribal ritual for several weeks, the new season always seems to refresh our desire to cheer on the club that we love so much.
But I fear, that this year, the optimism is totally based on wishful thinking, due to the financial problems that we are engulfed in, team strengthening, has been all but non existant, whilst the exit door remains swinging on its hinges, Its very clear, to myself and certain others, that our latter day saviours, have completely lost the appetite for the bruising financial battles, that are part of Football club ownership, and I have to Add, from a personal viewpoint, that the desire to turn us into a successful team, has withered on the vine, the dream is dead, as Sisu have turned their backs on further investment, and more of our better players jump into the "out tray"

If we take a step back, take a deep breath, and look at what our rivals are doing to give it a "genuine go" then I find it impossible to review the coming season with anything but extreme pessimism, Andy Thorn, may be like a breath of fresh air arround the place, but a magician he aint.
All we can do is cheer them on, and hope that the Hoffman Bid" turns out to be successful, in the meantime, sisu are feeling down the back of sofas, and looking menacingly at the Tea lady's Tip Jar.

Tbh I'm expecting very little and I think we will be battling to stay up this season, however I'm glad we still have a team to support and I don't mind being low providing the way we play is similar to what we showed at the end of last season.

I think we can cope with one of two things as City fans. We can put up with AB's hoofball if the results are coming, we can put up with losing providing it's entertaining, but when you're hoofing it and still getting beat then it's time to pack up.

youth look good,formations looking good,

losing king was a big blow and we can only hope we get lucky with ROD or eastwood hitting goal scoring form, but west/gunar have been replaced with credible replacemetns or exciting youth

i think we will better 56 pts this year anyway if we stay in business long enough

I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to the city and normally this time of year will be telling everyone one how this is our year and promotions on the cards. Nothing like that this year. To be honest if we have still got a club at the end of the season and haven't gone down it will be a job well done.

at the moment it is. the first choice XI could probably get us around mid table but once we start hitting injuries and suspensions we could have big problems and despite what anyone says there's no way things going on in the boardroom don't have an impact on players.

I'm not going to get excited about a takeover until one happens, we've been down this road before and while I do think Hoff wants to buy the club and has some backing who knows if he will get it and even if he does it could drag on all season. SISU don't seem to want to put any more money in out of their own pocket and there's nothing left to mortgage.

Depending on the Hoffs offer it could even work out that admin is the best option for SISU, they must be the biggest creditor so a fire sale of all our players may see them make a better return than any other option. I'm not 100% sure, even with Hoff waiting in the wings, that going into admin wouldn't lead to liquidation, with things as they stand it would be hard to claim that CCFC is a viable business moving forward.

I'd love to be more positive but I unless a takeover (or SISU find an investor) happens fairly quickly this could be a very long and worrying season.
