As first predicted in the Telegraph when we reported last month’s late filed accounts for a third club company - Otium Entertainment Group Limited - it now appears club directors want the Holdings company they are winding up to be struck off, without the need to submit the 2011/12 accounts.

Club directors said they were refusing to breach confidentiality with Companies House. But they reaffirmed their intention to place into Otium all club assets which had previously been strewn across CCFC Holdings and a company now in liquidation, Coventry City Football Club Limited.

I suppose there is a subtle difference between liquidation & winding up, but the end result is it will cease to exist.

It was Grendel that was implying otherwise, I agree it will be wound up so no one gets to see any accounts, as the company will cease to exist then I imagine a lot of old company records will be disposed of too.

The paper trail will be incinerated.... make of that what you will..

Company records have to be retained even after the business is wound up! Unless rules have changed, it is for 6 years. I presume to allow tax man to check for fraud if it goes down that route. Certainly destroying all paperwork within days of winding up a company WILL start alarm bells ringing and the fraud squad to forensically investigate the offenders.
