IF there is a new ground built........ (8 Viewers)

Very relevant as the people who travel would be more inclined to follow the team if a stadium was outside the city . I know a lot of mates in Coventry who simply couldn't be arsed to go to the ricoh.

Couldn't agree more.....we were only getting crowds of 8-10,000 last season so those who couldn't be arsed to go to the Ricoh won't be arsed to go to a stadium built anywhere!

There is also no "Greater Grimsby", "Greater Bolton", Greater Nottingham"........the point is teams have/are playing outside of their City's boundary with relatively success

In name only there isn't. I will use the term "Urban Area" then if it makes you happy.

Horwich is part of Bolton anyway: The Metropolitan Borough of Bolton Listeni/ˈboʊltən/ is a metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester, England. It is named after its largest settlement, Bolton, but covers a far larger area which includes Blackrod, Farnworth, Horwich, Kearsley and Westhoughton, and a suburban and rural element from the West Pennine Moors.

There is a Greater Grimsby and it takes in Cleethorpes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Grimsby
The North East Lincolnshire towns of Grimsby, Immingham and Cleethorpes, form the economic area known as Greater Grimsby

West Bridgford is part of Rushcliffe, a town that is part of the Nottingham urban area: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nottingham_Urban_Area
Greater Nottingham is largely within the three districts of Rushcliffe, Broxtowe and Gedling surrounding the city.

The thing is, it will just be another excuse for some fans for not to go. The same fans who hardly went to the Ricoh unless there was a sniff of Wembley and the Premier League. Some just like to be outraged and angry.

How many fans stopped being a fan when we moved from Hr to the Ricoh? HR was where we had been for 100 odd years and where our history really was. Seeing the pictures of HR being knocked down was saddening, would people really feel the same seeing the Ricoh being knocked down?

Spot on AND as i posted earlier the city ground was originally in the city boundary anyway

Coventry is our home, HR was just the venue.

For some fans perhaps but not all. Despite living over a 100 miles away i went to a large number of home games every season both at the Ricoh and HR.

So would people really stop being a fan and going to games if it was 20 yards over the boundary?

Would the same people go if SISU weren't the owners and it was built 20 yards over the boundary?

Thats a moot point because if is built outside the city then it wont be 20 yards over a boundary will it. it would be in a neigbouring town such as Hinckley, Nuneaton, Rugby etc etc.

But assuming for a second that it was just over the boundary, even a step over the boundary, that would be it for me.

If there was no where suitable to play in the city and we desperately needed a new ground then I would go just outside the boundary.

However the circumstances to which this new ground would happen makes it unacceptable to me.

It's ok though as people could give up with CCFC and go and watch Solihull Blaze instead :)

So when did you become a fan of franchising in football?

The last time I "lined MK Dons Owners" pockets I guess...

Does that mean you supported the move then?

What happened to your principled stance of letting individuals decide what is right?

Hard hats on.that should do it.

Of course they can decide. The same as I have said it is up to people if they don't go and common sense should be used. I just find it hard to see how you can just stop supporting a club you have grown up with, loved over 20 yards. If it was really far away then of course it would be a different matter but the fact is we don't know where it would be or even if this stadium exists.

Because you have to draw a line somewhere. Just over the boundary, then a mile from it, then 3 miles from it, then 5 or 6. Where does it stop?

You're probably not far off. I'd imagine it's roughly the same for all clubs.

I can name 4 people straight off who are consistently at away fixtures.

Because as I have repeatedly stated, it would not be the club we have grown up with. That club would be gone and a facsimile would be there in its place

Agree there Nick aside from the last bit. If it got knocked down I'd feel sad about it. Wouldn't feel as bad as I did 8 years ago though.

But they do have a choice. Fuck off and give/sell the club to someone who cares and does what is right for us the fans.

No matter what you think of the Ricoh a majority of the fans want us to play there not another Ground Wherever it is.

I too will not attend home games outside of Coventry.

Not if they have no choice as there is nowhere else to build one?

If there were plenty of alternative sites inside the border and planning permission would be granted and SISU chose not to out of spite then yes it would be petty.

If we got moved like MK Dons with a new name etc then I agree we would be a different club, but 20 yards down the road... come on?

Haven't i answered this once already? 20 yards or 20 miles makes no difference, its either in Coventry or its not. BUT as we both know that situation would never arise because if a stadium were to be built outside of the city boundary it would not be 20 yards, it would be in a neighbouring town/suburb whatever.

LAST is there really a choice though, is there serious buyers who are willing to pay the type of money needed to purchase CCFC of SISU?

I agree with the second point, the Ricoh was built for CCFC it should be our home.

Where do you suggest this magical "just a few yards over the border" site is? What realistic sites are there?

Cos no Council will agree to permission on a greenfield site for a new stadium.

Yes but we all know that women would not know what 20 yards are.

and unless Joy has had a sex change she will also be unable to read a measuring tape.

It is easy manipulating a boundary line to suit your argument but if it is in Warwickshire then it is not in Coventry.
