Who Knows put it up for sale and see.
People are quick to say CCC should give up the Ricoh for free or at a knockdown price.

So why shouldn't Sisu do the same after all they got it for free.

LAST is there really a choice though, is there serious buyers who are willing to pay the type of money needed to purchase CCFC of SISU?

I agree with the second point, the Ricoh was built for CCFC it should be our home.

But they don't want to sell the club, despite their motives or reason.

People say that because I think it's overlooked that CCFC sacrificed so much for the Ricoh and feel a little a bit of generousity should be shown, unfortunately the world don't work like that and we are where we are.

If SISU wanted to get rid of this failing asset they call our club then they would have done this years ago.

It's ok though as people could give up with CCFC and go and watch Solihull Blaze instead :)

Been waiting for that for weeks from someone! ;-) Thing with that is that we had no choice. The rink was falling to bits and was pretty close to being deemed unsafe. Coventry was the only place that came forward with a reasonable solution. Generally the fans supported the move too (myself included) which is why so many Villa fans, Baggies, Dingles and Bluenoses still attend now.

This is before you look at the arguments regarding hockey being a franchise sport (which is a model I don't like btw), economic impact, impact on other teams in the local area and the upsizing rather than downsizing.

Btw I can't be the only one that sees the irony with who else is playing at the Skydome right now!

Hockey is generally more of a regional sport anyway. Blaze being the West Midlands team, Panthers being the East Midlands team, Devils being the Welsh team etc.

Do agree aside from the Jock teams. There's 4 relatively close to each other. One being the perfect example of a franchise, albeit they've pretty much done everything perfectly imo.

ACL/CCC wont sell for anything less than the going rate - understandable but what is the 'going rate'
SISU wont sell the club until they have recouped their money - not going to happen but again understandable

One or both parties have to 'give' in order for us to move back home. If they could agree a short term rental deal (with perks) then agree a point in time to purchase the ground then this is the only way forward at this stage. Trust is broken on either side and then fans are suffering.

Oh so you're not a born and bred cov kid then. So you won't have a clue how we feel about having our club stolen from our city.

You outsiders don't really give a fuck ifIits in Coventry or not do you? You don't have an emotional tie that we do.

The club goes hand in hand with the city.

Valient,i like your posts normally but I do'nt like this one. I was born in Banbury and my dad started taking me from the age of four so that's 46 years I have chosen to support Cov and in that time a lot of money I could not really afford has been spent on them. Its cost me money and ruined relationships when I was younger because Cov always came first, nothing got in the way. I/we have missed family weddings and all that goes socially regarding family get togethers etc,.

Its been a lifetime commitment from me/us ,the same commitment as yours ,and this club would not survive without the support financially from those who were not born or live in the town.

I am one of those from outside Cov that would not set foot in 6fields,its completely wrong, its immoral, and will not prolong the stay there by going

Every team in the world has fans who don't live or were born in the town ,but you can't question our passion for this club, it is the same level of passion you have.

As I said I do agree with most of what you say and you can see your passion in your writing , but I/we are equal to you and the rest who live in Cov, its our club as much as those who live in the town

Well said Manchester_Sky_Blue and good reply to Covlad65!!

People seem to forget, CCFC which was born and founded in the centre of the city which is the 12th largest Uk city should remain there as that is where there roots lie. For crying out loud, the city being the size it is, we should not even be talking about or even considering moving outside the boundary of its home.

The facts are, SISU an outsider coming here being unprofessional as they are and pissing off the city rulers and its people. The league seriously need to look within the boundaries and signal where they are not allowed to build.(Fat chance of that from the gutless wonders). Being the original location where the club was formed and the size of the city, any new stadium should be within the city. Many town football clubs who have moved out of its boundaries I can understand as a lack of building space that may be unavailable in there town. But with Coventry, that is not the case. I'm sure there is some area's within the city that are available and not to forget there is a Hi - Tech stadium already standing there ready to host future sky blue matches.

If the council would give planning permission for sites within the boundaries then I agree it should be in there.

But they won't and a ground outside of the city is totally unacceptable therefore the only logical course is to return to the Ricoh which is exactly what will happen.

sis should publically apply for planning permission inside council boundries

if council reject sisu should publically ask why

if the council say ricoh is there, sisu should publically make offer for it

if they reject that there can be no doubt that council are pushing club outside city boundaries.

Agree with one caveat, SISU should publicly make a sensible offer for it.

Depends what the offer is.

I think the 20 yard inside or outside the city boundary is a pretty pointless argument because if SISU/Otium persist with this stupid plan after years of trying to secure a site, get planning permission and then building the bloody thing there will probably no longer be a football club to play at 'Arena Tinpot'...we'll be long gone by that time. The only way forward is us coming back to the Ricoh asap even if that means we are stuck with owners most of us despise for a little longer.

As for the points made about those non Coventry born fans being happy for us to play outside the city I have to say I do know a few 'outsiders' who will never set foot in Shitfields and are every bit as passionate as me about our team playing within the city that gives it it's name. I have to agree though that the small "I support the team...I'll watch them wherever they play...we'll always be Coventry City" brigade do tend to be non Coventrians who understandably do not share our pride in our city and the reasons why we can't even contemplate the thought of these jokers taking us out of the city we love so much forever. I don't respect their views whatsoever...

There only two issues I have with that:

a) Is there a location inside Council boundries which would be suitable for a new CCFC Stadium?
b) Now that Seppala and Lucas are discussing a return I would like the sniping and games in front of the media to stop and sensible negotiations continue until things are resolved.

Just as a point of clarity, I was born in Cov and lived there till I was 6. Still have family in the city. So whilst I cannot properly claim to be Cov Bred and I am certainly Cov Born and feel a strong attachment to the city.

I think that's a fair one re locations - the Parkside site was once sighted for the Ricoh (in the late 90s). The council steered the club towards the Gas Works and the land was subsequently developed by the university. Such a shame as I believe a new stadium on the site would have led to a proper 'new stadium bounce' with attendances far better than the ones at a ground that is almost outside of Coventry.

There is nothing that shouts out to me as appropiate land for a stadium, however we could just steam roll people in Hillfields and rebuild Highfield road.

Given the standard of football on offer the attendances at the Ricoh have been very good. First season had highest in nearly 30 years.

There is also no "Greater Grimsby", "Greater Bolton", Greater Nottingham"........the point is teams have/are playing outside of their City's boundary with relatively success

Do you love arguing on things you don't know about?

I lived near Grimsby for about 17 years. You can see signs saying Greater Grimsby. And their ground is less than 1 minutes walk from Grimsby and 5 from the town centre. You couldn't get it any closer to Grimsby on the main road in or it would be on the docks.

5 minutes walk from the town(or city) centre should be the benchmark then.

Fans on the way to the Ricoh from the City Centre:

What happens if the Ricoh was a few hundred yards down the A444 and built where Makro was and outside of the Coventry City Council boundary?

The problem is that the Stadium will take years to build and evidence suggests it will start at 12,000 and finish when required at 20,000.
The Ricoh is a fantastic stadium and we could be in it by Xmas. Nobody really cares who owns it.
With the team performing as it is we can expect crowds of over 10,000 and who knows where crowds will go.
We can certainly fill the stadium if we are involved in a promotion race at the end of the season.

Sisu need to go with the majority of fans and initially take the reduced rental agreement.
Continue to cut costs to which the team seems to be currently unaffected by.
I believe ACL/CCC need to see evidence of goodwill from SISU before they release the stadium to them, but they need to give SISU reasonable assurance that ultimately it will be released at a fair price.
I still don't know whether SISU have already offered a fair price and can only guess why the public have not seen the offers and refusals everybody talks about.

There are lots of reasons why they could reject it.
Traffic congestion. Residential objections. Public transport. Green belt. Just to name a few.
Highly unlikely they could reject it because the Ricoh exists, but some fast food outfits, supermarkets etc have been rejected because they are close to similar businesses.

so some sympathy for SISU if it just isnt possible to have a ccfc owned ground in coventry?

No sympathy whatsoever for SISU.
Also CCFC cant afford it. Rental is the best option with access to all football related incomes transferring to CCFC as part of the rental deal.

All fans happy with that ?

no

not CCFC fans

edit-oh access to f&b? maybe then....up to sisu's accountants to decide that one, owning it would be preferable though.

Yes but we all know that women would not know what 20 yards are.

and unless Joy has had a sex change she will also be unable to read a measuring tape.

It is easy manipulating a boundary line to suit your argument but if it is in Warwickshire then it is not in Coventry.

One of my friends says that she's awful at judging distances because her boyfriends over the years have told her that various different sizes are all 6 inches.;)
