Sisu - repulsive vultures (10 Viewers)

Against my better judgement I have tried incredibly hard to see both sides of the story here, but its nigh on impossible now to show any grace to the vultures that have driven this club and its supporters to the brink.

I'm not sure there is any doubt now, if there ever was, as to what theyre all about. Yes the council, ACL etc have hardly handled this particularly well, but ultimately aren't they protecting their asset? I'm not sure they have bled the club dry....wasn't that the previous owners? Didn't SISU buy the club and accept the terms of the lease? Couldn't they have walked away at that moment if they deemed it too expensive? It's now very personal to them and that is incredibly dangerous.

We are merely their collateral damage, they pay us ZERO respect.....they are the lowest form of life. The sort of financiers that drove the world to the brink of collapse in 2008.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to boycott Sixfields or not buy a shirt. I just want to vent my anger and frustrations at the way these reptiles have ruined the club.

Why shouldn't you vent your anger. The view of most I think. Some at Sixfields like to think they are picked on. But I personally couldn't careless if they go or not. There was always going to be a few.

I'm more interested in the fans that don't go

Are SISU not also trying to protect their asset? The football club?

No there oversea investors who are non football related.

Coventry City Football club was just there way of getting there dirty meat hooks on to the Ricoh which I must repeat is owed and built by public funds ie the taxes from the people of Coventry.

CCFC is not much of an asset, in fact not worth much. Its all about the Ricoh complex and ripping off the people of Coventry... Surely you can see that??

Too much time on GMK for you methinks pal !! SISU have only ever really been after one thing and that was a healthy return. Problem is Ransom sold them a dummy and they then proceeded to fuck it up and overspend for 4 years before deciding to reap revenge on everyone and every entity associated with the club by reverting to tried and tested hedge fund methods, which is pure bullying !

Its SISU's job to look after the best interest of the Football Club, no one else's. Is the councils job to look after the best interest of the tax payers, why is that hard to get?

Anyone who has ever invested into a football club has only been interested in a healthy return. Any new buyer of Coventry Football club will only be interested in a healthy return.

Jack Walker, Dave Wheelan, Steve Gibson, Roman Abramovich, Sheik Monsouer - for some its just about indulging their passion or increasing their profile.

i think all cov fans put their club first thats why we want nothing to do with SISU and as little as possible to do with the council and ACL, but the involvement of the council is unadvoidable but SISU is a different matter...

What are you talking about? Why should I be holding the council accountable for the clubs ills when its got nothing to do with them. By the same logic do we then hold the players responsible for demanding such excessive wages over the years and bleeding the club dry? agents demanding more and more until the margins disappear? The council look after the tax payer, SISU look after the club, if you want to blame someone, blame SISU for not agreeing a cheaper rent when they took over.

"covcity4life" Do me a favour and list down what your problems are with the council and I will explain how each issue you have can be traced back to SISU.

What about the massive rent they charged when we first moved in?

Maybe you could see that as a reflection of recovering part of the massive build cost, combined with the fact that the club didn't put much of anything in.

Maybe there are Cov fans who are also Cov taxpayers, and don't expect or want the club to be subsidised by the council when there are other more pressing needs on local finances.

And maybe there are some others who think that SISU are such terrible owners that the best thing for the club would be to get shot of them. File this latter point under 'prioritising the club above the (current) owners'.

Come on Nick, that's an easy one:

This all comes down to SISU's inability to negotiate a better rent deal when they took over. If they knew the rent to be excessive, either renegotiate or don't sign on the line to buy the club that was hamstrung into a unrealistic business model.

This also further emphasises the councils position of trying to achieve what's best for the tax payer, which as we have already established is their priority, not CCFC.

And where is coventry citys equivalent? Bryan Richardson?

Sorry, thought you said ANYONE that has invested into ANY football club, didn't realise you were specifically referring to ccfc. In which case, there has not, and will probably never will be a sugar daddy.

so if there's no sugar daddy, how do coventry survive in a stadium where the only revenue they receive is from ticket sales?

What is hard to understand is people that think what is best for the club is only best for SISU and will not benefit our club in the slightest.

why are you talking to me as if i am a sisu fan? i need problems resolved, not blame being shifted to sisu

i am well aware sisu have made numerous mistakes and still are to this day. thus you dont see fans praising sisu for most part. but you do see fans kissing councils arse which is plain weird.

they charged a silly rental rate, refused to negotiate it till sisu played hardball, this completely fucked up the working relationship from get go. they have flat out said they will never sell ricoh in past, then pretended they might and when it comes down to it rejected any plans again. they are messing about with the club and fans just like sisu

as far as i am concerned any real ccfc fan HATES both sides.

Derrick Robins was the closest we've had to having a 'sugar daddy' when he transformed the club in the 60s - he also had the vision to sign Jimmy Hill as manager, and provided transfer funds for our promotion to the top flight. Gates rocketed - think of the 50k+ at the Wolves match.

Makes me sad when I think back to those times. Look at us now - we don't even know who owns the club. We're just a hedge fund's pawn in their game to get hold of the Ricoh for their investors.

Re refusal to negotiate rent, I would hazard a guess, given SISU's bullying style, that negotiation wasn't even an option. It was probably take it or leave it.

My personal opinion of course, but I doubt SISU would ever enter into a fair negotiation with anyone, its just not their MO.

so if there's no sugar daddy, how do coventry survive in a stadium where the only revenue they receive is from ticket sales?

They don't. Quite simply.

In order to be an effective business going forward they need to be in a position to have income streams on par with the rest of the football league. Organically speaking as a club we are a bit of a sleeping giant (I use that term very loosely) in respect to our potential fan base and our one team one city status. To ever fulfil our potential we need to be maximising all revenue streams, this cannot be argued against. So how do we do it?

Firstly and ideally the Ricoh would be 100% club owner - the problems I see here are the council/ACL do not with to sell (as is there right, I cannot force you to sell me your house for 10% of its market value just because I would be homeless otherwise)
Secondly, if option 1 is not going to happen, a sensible rent agreement needs to be in place to benefit both parties - The problem with this is that SISU are so hell bent on option 1 that as we have now found out are willing to continue holding the club hostage even when there is a seemingly good rental offer on the table.

Ring-fencing all of these variables and what ifs is the true nature of ownership SISU would have. As I understand it they have said that it would be SISU and not CCFC who own the ground and surrounding areas, something most have known to be the game plan some time ago. Meaning they could sell the club and charge rent to the club for use of the Ricoh, and if you thought ccc were unreasonable, I would dread to think what prices SISU would charge.

So for me the only option they have is to renegotiate rent (building a new ground on the outskirts of cov and spending millions with predicted gates of 3000 or so is not a viable option, even in the world of Joy and Tim) which is not ideal but its all we've got. You cant then start throwing law suits around the place because you didn't do your due diligence properly before you bought the club.

Sisu are not vultures. Vultures feed off carrion that is already dead - they do not proactively cause the death.
