As he's only in it for himself I'm sure he cares as little about them as he did about us. It was his last big pay day and he got his three year contract. The rest will take care of itself. Sad, but true I'm afraid.

I'd say the only thing King did wrong was to tell the manager he was going to sign the contract offered. At the time I told friends this was purely to force the hand of interested clubs, and I was right. We as fans can hardly claim the moral high ground when a majority would sing and chant his name in support, knowing the crime he was convicted of, whilst some also sang "she said yes Marlon, she said yes". The majority of supporters over looked his crime when he played for us, but now he has moved on they are using this same crime as a stick to beat him with. I couldn't care less what he does in respect of his career now he has left. He did well for us while he was here, and now he has gone, move on peeps.

You're right that we were less bothered when he was scoring in Sky Blue, but that's life too. He let us down badly because we would have had the chance to perhaps tie someone else down whilst the dithering negotiations were going on and before the current boardroom unrest that means we're less inclined to re-offer those wages to an alternative.
A bigger let down than just to us is to his manager and team mates to do what he did. I'm sure they've all seen it before, but still pretty low.

But when he was scoring goals for us, he had not agreed to resign and then done the dirty. What he did to the club/fans was disgusting. He should've just kept his gob shut until the ink was dry. That's my issue with MK the Footballer. MK the person I've never liked.

It was Brody and SISU who went to the press and spouted about it. Fair enough he might have said verbally to AT that he would sign but it wasn't him who went to the press about it.
I am pretty sure a lot gets said at Ryton and to AT that the club dont go to the club about...
The club are full of shite, still waiting on the news of a franchise player they promised and the announcement they were making last week...King may be a criminal, but how bad does it make the club look when people believe him over them with the whole contract saga?
AT was quoted in the press wasn't he? And to be fair to Brody all he said was 'good news in the Telegraph tomorrow'. Wasn't as if he was the first to announce it or anything.
The way I see it, the club posted a video on the website showing all of MK's CCFC goals in celebration of him signing, they shouted about it in the press and then on twitter. They must have been really confident that it was a done deal to do all that. King screwed us over. Just showed all that 'I really owe the fans' stuff he said was hot air and nothing else.

The same way that they are confident of bring in investors, bringing in a franchise player etc? I am pretty sure they shouldn't be making statements or announcements until the ink has dried and everything is confirmed?

Disagree with this. We as fans took stick for giving him support after the club gave him an opportunity for a fresh start. He was, still is entitled by law to take up work again. I supported that move, loved MK the player thought he was fantastic for us. I allways felt the only chance we had to keep him was maybe he felt he wanted to repay the supporters for the backing we gave. He "appeared" to had done that, and i do believe he told AT that was the case, then to drop us in it less thn 48 hours later was just shit. If he had said at season end i have been offered a great deal elsewhere im off thank you cov, i wouldn't have cared. but to do it in the manner he has, fuck him....he deserves the abuse he will get at the Ricoh.

Disagree with this, he will not be hated by Coventry fans because of his crime. He will be hated and abused because of the way he screwed us over.
If he had moved on quietly I wouldn't be bothered, but the way it happened leaves a bitter taste in all of our mouths.

I don't think we are far off the same page on this Smiley. We as fans did take some stick, but we would have given Marlon and whichever club signed for some stick if he had signed for someone else. It is/was too easy a target. I didn't mind that though, because I believe a bit of hostility from the majority of opposition supporters can help bind a club, team and its supporters together.
I also said it was my belief that King told Thorn and the club he would sign a new contract in order to force the hands of other interested teams. Of course it built the fans hopes up and then dashed them, but I don't believe anybody ever thought Marlon was a man of honor, so when he did do an abrupt about turn and signed for Birmingham, it wasn't any great shock.
I can also admit I thought Marlon was a good player for us and served us well, and I would have loved it if he had signed a new contract. However, he didn't so we move on. He will take plenty of stick when he returns, but it's hardly going to be something new to him is it? It's not like the situation with Dion who was here a few years and had built up a genuine relationship with the supporters before he went to Villa.

Is it not hypocritical to call somebody "money grabbing" for taking a better offer? Is there anyone out there who wouldn't go to a different place of work, to do the same job if the new workplace was offering to double your money? By all means if people want to call him a sex case or a liar that's up to them, but if they slate him for being a money grabber I believe they will be hypocrites.
