No one is going to like it. Here goes....

Remember the game against MK Dons, the one where around 7000 travelling fans turned up?
Well everyone was pleased because it was great publicity to the clubs plight. Well in my
opinion this might just have played into SISU's hands and helped them turn down the rental
offer.

You see I have been racking my brains thinking how SISU can get investors interested
in a new stadium when so few fans turn up. My suspicion is that SISUs justification is:-

"Well look at the away support, as soon as we get a flashy new stadium back, closer to
the city, the fans will come flocking back".

In the meantime try and ruin the CCC/RICOH/ACL business by tying them up in legal action.
If they can ruin this business then there will be less competition in the area for the new
stadium.

This is all conjecture of course but it makes sense. So how do we change this?

The obvious answer of course is if the majority of fans were to support a new club in
the Ricoh, but a recent poll I posted on here showed that the majority of the fans would not
do this.

The other way?

Boycott ALL Coventry games - at home AND AWAY. If SISU's investors were to see that the fans
had truned against SISU completely, and there would possibly be no support for a new stadium
they would stop their support leaving SISU no option but to consider the new rental deal.

I know it won't be popular, but it is another idea.

That' a fair comment, but I do get an impression from these forums, that a lot of the fans are staying away just because of the distance - and don't forget, any new stadium is going to be a lot smaller capacity anyway so they don't have to get everyone back.

We won't get special treatment form the FA when we're not ground sharing. FFP on a crowd even double or treble the Sixfields attendance would limit us to L2 I'd fear, and then what happens, fans leave, ground too big...

I felt that game was a one-off, an exception because people wanted to make a point.
I agree that a lot of people are going to away games instead of home to deprive SISU of income, and it may well be working, we may need to just wait longer.

Don't get me wrong, you may well be right, I was just trying to understand how SISU may have investors for this new project. Maybe it is all bluff and their are no investors and these plans are a sham.

SISU have surprised us before though so I would rule the new stadium out. I was just trying to think of this from a new angle.

Covstu, and the answer to that is probably no. They must have a real business plan with a few options and loss, budget limits. I am sure they will stretch it as much as they can, because if they lose, the will get reputation damage. But investors will only take so much, there has to be a real politik, real economic position.

and 2) a new ground on the outskirts of coventry with CCFC playing there and supported by the 2,000 that are currently attending sixfields, its blatantly obvious that the two sets of supporters are never going to see eye to eye they are as equally as far apart as SISU and the city council.

The business I work for budgeted for in excess of £350 million losses over a decade so the idea that a few million will not be signed off is frankly business ignorance.

2. No, next season is too soon but I would consider it at a later date. 28.57%

There simply isn't support for a new club - but as time goes on I think people will realise this is the only way to get shot of SISU.

Nobody know how they are funded, I would have thought it less likely that they would go cap in hand to potential investors looking for those specifically interested in a new ground.

Seriously though the notion that investors will not stand relatively small losses is nonsense. No one knows who these investors are or what the long term potential gain offered is.

Ian Coventry, your thoughts on the fans taking their club back will only have moderate interest at the moment.
However, as time drags on more will possibly come around to it.
They see it as disloyalty to CCFC, they're between a rock and a hard place. They hate Sisu but love their club.
The new year may bring changes of thought amongst increasing numbers of fans. They are all hoping against hope that a deal can be struck to come back to Coventry.
We all want that, 99% of us.
The idea has been suggested of a fan built team to act as a bargaining force, to make Sisu see there are alternatives. They think they have all the cards.
I'd much rather the existing CCFC were revived and here in Coventry. The increasing cold hard reality is that this doesn't look like happening for YEARS.
The idea of us playing Bath City instead of Derby County isn't something that appeals much to fans, I can understand that.
The poll figures suggest that more than 60% of voters would ultimately support such a campaign to get OUR club back speaks volumes. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
The HUGE consolation would be the reclaimed CCFC would be Sisu free.
If nothing else, a reclaimed CCFC should be formed for next season. As a back up plan, part of a strategy. Doing nothing is not an option.
I stress - A RECLAIMED CCFC.

I think too many issues are being confused here.
If SISU left tomorrow...Sickfields would no doubt see a rise in attendance short-term due to the SISU-out & maybe some NOPM factions. A further increase would likely happen on the announcement of a return to the City. BUT even if SISU stay - if we moved back to the City gates would be ten-fold what they are at Sickfields.
I believe most City fans don't give a kipper's-cock who owns the club. We just want CCFC to come home.

If we add 1 & 2 together we get 64.93 which is 6493 fans based on a 10k base. Enough to get any new team up to League football pretty quickly.

Even on the Original figure It would be double what the the current attendance is now ,but i don't think you could extrapolate any real figures from a sample size such as this.

Its also not a very solid foundation to build something derived from impatience and anger ,a bit kneejerk and not likely to be steady state under those conditions .

Oh I'm not saying the stats are valid (or not), just that the maths seemed off.
