Correct and it's something we won Olympic gold in back in the 30s. It's limited to 11 imports to encourage home grown talent. I have to say though our system isn't perfect and needs a MASSIVE overhaul.

That is completely inaccurate. It makes no economic sense for anyone (both the city of Coventry or any EIHL side) to relocate the Blaze. Would make more sense for everyone concerned if Smith/Black/Moran/Kelman ect created another team that was based in Birmingham. Think about what has happened in Braehead. That has worked. Moving Fife, Dundee ect wouldn't have.
Do you agree Ferret? If not please explain why.

The Blaze are financially stable now, have an average attendance of between 2-3k, and play in a modern, sound arena at the top level.
When they were in Solihull, the club never knew if it would last till the next season, had an average crowd of about 2-300, and played in a ramshackle old arena whilst struggling most of the time to even get near the top level.
Whilst I cannot sit here and say confidently that they will never move (I cant see the future), I can say confidently they wouldn't be "off like a shot" as you put it.

Blaze v Brummies would be a cracking atmosphere, and generate plenty of ££££££££.
No one is boycotting sixfields out of some moral issue with franchise teams (even if they do have moral issues with them), people are boycotting sixfields because the sisu fuckers are hurting our football club for their own ends and they are doing it while knowing there are much better options for ccfc.
The few people who are mentioning franchise clubs while criticising the fans that chose to go to sixfields 'aren't criticising because they are morally against franchise clubs, they are critasing because they belive that going increases the chance of the club being viable in northampton and thus increases the chance they will never come back.
Criticism or snide remarks about people going to mk dons or the blaze simply arn't appropriate.

Of course it makes economic sense, it is a much bigger market potentially. It is the same economics that moved the team from Solihull to Coventry. To be honest, I don't really care as I'm not a fan of the sport, but I am sure if the operators of a Birmingham based ice rink were to make an approach they'd be very tempted. But it won't happen for a while I guess as the plans for a city centre ice rink in Birmingham have been shelved for a few years it seems.
But then, you know much more about the sport and the team than me so I'll bow to your knowledge on this.

But if you owned the Blaze, would it not be better to provide the Blaze with a local rival to generate big games? Surely you would just go and set up a second team in Brum?
Its just the same way that the Blaze bought the Hull Stingrays a few years ago. The Stingrays were about to go under and the Blaze bought them. It wasn't some kind gesture, it was to guarantee another fixture for the Blaze.
Fact is both Birmingham & Coventry can each support a team, and the more teams the better.

There is a vacant stadium looking to utilise Its facility.
I believe there is a cavernous level below the Pitch/Casino requiring some purpose.

Quite possibly. To be fair I wasn't aware that it was possible for the same owners to own multiple clubs, I would have thought that would have created a conflict of interest, but I guess that isn't how it works in that sport so perhaps you're right.

Yes you can own multiple clubs, I don't know enough about it to know how that works in practical terms. I imagine there must be rules in place to prevent one club just sucking the other dry?
Just something else to do for me. My football team has been taken away so I'm happy to consider something alternative when it comes around. I don't know the history of the Blaze really, other than they used to be a Solihull based team. I don't think anything that I could do would ever change this though. If they were potentially thinking about returning to Solihull then I might think again, but they're not are they?!
Those picking on fans for going to Sixfields are the minority - I'd never go, but I can understand you going. Maybe you should try and rise above it by not picking up everything that others do all the time. Sometimes it looks like you are being defensive - you haven't got anything to defend so just let it go. You can't single people out for having a go at fans that go to Sixfields whilst then having a pop at people who go to watch us vs MK or go to watch the Blaze. If you feel that people should be able to do whatever they choose then behave like it.

Firstly wasn't trying to 'top trumps' you on knowledge there. With hockey in this country it makes more sense to set up another team rather than move one. It just wouldn't happen. Losing Coventry from the league would have a big impact on the other clubs as generally our fans do travel and also having us there brings in home fans at opposition's rinks (although not as many as a few years ago). The EIHL is looking (and has/needs) to expand so you're not wrong with regards to the Birmingham club idea. It just won't be at the expense of another club. There's a possibility of trying again in London and Newcastle/Durham along with other areas too.

Erm there's more than 10 clubs. Across the country there's probably 60 playing at a competitive level. In Coventry alone there's 2 professional clubs playing at the Skydome. There's also two pro clubs in both Nottingham and Sheffield with semi pro teams playing in both of those places too.
