Could you imagine what might of happened had Ranson appointed a Robbins or Pressley instead of CC or AB? Goes to show Waggot is doing something a so called "football expert" in Ranson could not. Of all his so called outside dealings this was Ransons biggest crime, I hated CC with a passion.

The way I read It ,It was slightly later ,In fact In the New year and the protracted affair around signing MK.There was definately a battle over the financing of that one and possibly the politics of It also . The results up to Christmas had made the on field fay're just about palatable ,It really was Turgid . We lost Turner and Carsley to Injury and It was downhill from there . So a combination of injury /loss of form, Manager feeling undermined and Squad becoming demotivated.

When I think about how much they Invested ,was It really all that ? Maybe one for OSB ,a comparison around squad Investment between Sisu and the previous regime . How many millions did they invest in players /not salaries compared to their predecessors .

Ah. Ray Ranson, the revisionist hero. If Fisher left today, you'd end up with some of the people calling him big fat Timmy giving him credit in a few years.

It think RR split the camp because he had the right idea with the blueprint of where the club should be going and how to go about acheiving this (buying player potential at a lower rate rather than the finished article and selling at a higher rate) as a business model this should be sustainable as well as the club reaping the rewards of the talent on the pitch. I think some feel RR was let down by SISU when they no longer backed this vision and pulled the plug. Most would agree had we continued in this vein, we could have reached the promised land by now, had the club been true to the vision and sold the players at the right time (not let them leave for free).

How many decent players did we actually make some decent money on that we signed under him though?

That's the point I was trying to bring out ,more in the round though ,not that It should be a spending contest ,but compared to the previous

bunch What was spent on acquisitions? Not very much Is my viewpoint.In terms of return we only remember Dann + Fox ,But Keogh represented

the best percentage Increase over purchase price.

He was allowed to spend at least £7 million - signing Eastwood for over a million and baker - a division one player - for £700,000 was a joke. He signed wood on mega wages and he was no better than ward Also he did exactly what he criticised prior boards for doing - signing journeymen like wright, beuzilin etc.

I remain a Beuzelin fan. He wasn't any great shakes, but had a touch of class about him at times. Like an exotic Adam Barton.

Berzelin did have a bit of class about him. Just another player who seemed to land in Coventry after his legs had gone!

And he recouped around £8m from player sales.

But yeah it's easy in hindsight to say which players were a waste of money. I'd imagine all clubs have a list like that, it's the nature of signings, I'm surprised anyone in football thinks you can avoid "signing journeymen" or even that you'd want to considering how Clarke is playing for us at the moment.

actually I think 12th February 2000 was the day it all went tits up for city .. nicky sumerbee finished froggatts career and we lost all shape ..from mid table to relegation the next season.. well that's my opinion anyway..

Remember being utterly dismayed when Coleman was appointed, particularly as Billy Davies was without a club at the time.

My abiding memory of Coleman prior to his appointment at Cov was his post match interviews as Fulham manager, when all he ever seemed to do was whinge about referees decisions.

Did make me chortle hearing him, as co-commentator remark upon how the Brazilians should be playing, when part of ITV's 2010 World cup team of 'experts'.

Indeed. I've said the same before. The opportunity to sack Coleman was available after that Charlton debacle.

Doyle was a free transfer, Thomas wasn't sold, and sure that there was a transfer document which showed that Fox was only sold for about £665,000 or s, Best was £1.5million not 2.

maybe - but there was loan money received for both of them at those amounts. and best was £2m Fox - i was guessing tbf

Best was £1.5million according to the leaked transfer documents.

We should surely be adding loan fees onto our total spend then? Considerably more loaned in than out.

You could use that as evidence, but the leaked transfer agreement between Celtic and City would have to take precedence for me as proof.

and the reason nothing came of that, was that it was under the rules of the welsh FA - not the English, where there was nothing wrong in what he was doing

Fox went for about £700k his transfer was one of them that was leaked in the telegraph. We paid £400k I think, and Walsall had a 25% sell on fee so we got a measly £225k profit.
