I think relegation to the 1st Div was deliberate (10 Viewers)

I believe It would not of suited the owners cause for them to have done what they are doing playing in the Championship.

So I think we were deliberately relegated, so they could begin this charade.

In order to do this, they left a weak manager in control, starved him of any real funds and sold important players against his wishes.

SISU have no interest in football what-so-ever, make no mistake about that.

You honestly believe this?

I think they just cut costs and then crossed their fingers we'd cling on to our place in the Championship by our finger nails.

I do think there was a point however when they could see we were all but doomed and did very little to try and alleviate the situation and improve our prospects of survival.

Deliberate relegation though? No. I don't believe that for a single second.

A calculated risk most likely . I can't conceive of any other scenario where they could have shed somewhere between 20-25 players reduced the wage bill by £8-£9M. and cancelled a 40 odd year lease.

Snozzer, in the weird set up we are in I can easily believe Sisu would do that. It is so ridiculous. The point where Juke was sold was obviously the tipping point. But even they are not THAT bonkers? More inclined to what Otis says.
As more and more posters point out, our club are not important to them. They gave up a while back on making money that way and now look to the Ricoh and the land.
A 12,000 stadium idea shows their pitiful ambition, if it were ever come to pass.

This is why GMK will always be in the shadow of SBT. Delusion and half baked theories after a night on real ale.

It's an interesting thought though, only player scoring getting sold, not committing another 100k or so for wages for marlon king's 3rd year on contract.
Can't remember them ever mentioning about the rent of the revenues or owning own stadium when we were in championship, only after relegation...
After all, relegation 'distressed' us.

In my opinion, the big problem with Sisu that season was not the cutting of costs per se (as has been shown this season that can be done without destroying the product on the pitch), but that they did it such a cack-handed way.

it wasnt deliberate, but it was self imposed. At the time they thought they could maintain revenues, whilst cutting costs . A non football mind in a football world

I don't think they believed it possible to "maintain revenues while cutting costs" not in the long term anyway, but there was the certainty that both costs and turnover would substantially reduce in D3. If you expect turnover to be hit further by moving the club then you also have to reduce costs or incur more debt. As the salary for a D3 player is half or less that of a D2 player, it makes financial sense if you want to stem the losses.

Can we get some sort of IQ test installed into the signing up process Nick? Cheers.

Occum had the razor stuff completely wrong. How about this one? Kennedy was never shot. It was a cover so he could live his dream as 'the Relegation Fairy'. He was seen in Coventry that year - this explains all.

Sadly the promotion fairy (Elvis) has not been seen in the area for many years.

In one word - Bollox.

Don't confuse incompetent clueless leaders Dulieu/Igwe employing a useless turdish clown as a manager as deliberate, they actually thought it would work. They also believed that the cost cutting wouldn't affect us, and tried to correct it with the loan players when it was too late.

Its amazing the amount of love Thorn got on this site that anyone now thinks employing Mr Teflon Thorn as he was to many was a deliberate act to get us relegated

Signed photo of Lucas and PHKW.

Why thank you, when do I receive my award?

p.s. if it's a season ticket you can shove it where the sun don't shine

To the OP, deliberate is probably granting them with credit that they had a plan.

Relegation was because of incompetence, nothing else.

I'll be honest I am surprised that more people haven't started thinking on the same lines as the OP's post.

Although this sounds like complete madness and totally unbelievable, I am not sure what could be true anymore.

If you recall, a few weeks ago someone revived an old thread from years ago where someone suggested CCFC may go into admin and end up playing in another city, at the time it was considered unbelievable and people scoffed at the suggestion, yet it appears it was a prophetic comment.

So although this theory sounds crazy, the only people on this board that know are those employed by SISU.

John, I think what Sisu actually tried to achieve was a suitable and sustainable business model, obviously when they took over they allowed Ranson to continue the business model that was already implemented in the hope that it would bring success, we all know it didn't.

From there on they have adopted by cutting costs and utilising running the business with the money that they have generated during each season, hence the promoted youth in Pressley's squad, but Thorn (who wasn't great for much) also tried the same tactic. Unfortunately for AT the Championship was a step to far to bleed the youth into.

Had all of this summer's past antics come while they were in the Championship then I believe they would have sold up because the Club would have been worth nearer to their estimates.

My thoughts are much the same as yours but I was just stating that anything could be possible as so many strange things have come to pass since SISU took over the club. SISU are a private equity company so the way they do business does not adhere to normal football principles.

Agreed. I think we can all be sure that when Sisu first took over they didn't have a Scooby about running CCFC as a business.

I don't think they got us relegated on purpose. Wouldn't be shocked if they did though. Is there anyone that would be shocked if they did?

We can look at the facts. They wanted to put ACL financially in the shite. Reduced income makes the rent a higher proportion of income. Whilst we were in the Championship the rent was only about 10% of income. IIRC Juke was the only player we had that was scoring goals. His goals suddenly made it look like we could get to safety. They wanted to sign him but the transfer window had closed......so we sent him out on loan until it opened again :( Who would send their only goalscorer out on loan when trying not to get relegated?

Sounds very far fetched. But it is SISUE we are talking about. I didn't think we would end up in Northampton. I didn't think they would threaten our own fans with litigation. Lots has happened that I would have taken as a joke. But we now think it is SISUE so whatever they do is now expected.
