I agree. Big IF. I don't like the way he's conducted himself on Twitter, but wouldn't cast any doubt as to his honesty. BUT, equally, if there is any truth, his motivation for fraternising would be one for which some sort of explanation would be due, surely?
Doesn't exactly seem radical journalist behaviour to get people drunk and hope their guard slips!

That could be an explanation. Have you seen much evidence of this sabre-sharp investigative nous in evidence in his writings?
Frankly, I see the same as virtually every local (and pretty many national) reporter, that he has a line to peddle, he peddles it.
All this nonsense about being neutral is just that, nonsense. The biggest disservice he does himself is, in fact, claiming to be neutral when there's absolutely no reason for him to be and, frankly, would be a damned less likely to sell papers if he didn't peddle a line!
Just because you take an angle doesn't necessarily make what you say irrelevant as a result, however. The same, for example, applies to David Conn, whose angle is hardly hidden. In fact the only difference is he positively embraces his position taking!

Most of my dislike of Les Reid come from his claim to be unbalanced.
If he had come out and said this is my opinion, I might have disagreed with what he had put, but I would have respected him as a man a lot more.
Conn's angle for years has been the exposing of sharp business practice in football.
Would hardly be surprising if Reid, as political reporter, had an angle of exposing sharp practice in politics.
One could even say you need the ying to the yang... just need to get rid of the dick waving about objectivity and grilling!
Indeed, although tbf the one that really started getting peoples' backs up and changed him fom hero to zero was his opinion piece, clearly headed as opinion!

I respect your opinion and enjoy the debate, but wouldn't care to indulge you any further on a public forum such as this. Good evening Sir
Its his "only I and my band of merry twitter followers are balanced" attitude that got my gander up.
I disagree MMM you may not of liked the way Les Reid retreived information or how it was published yet in all this mess Les Reid is the only one who consistently dug for the truth and kept the fans informed.
You could tell a hundred people the same story and everyone of them would put their own slant on it and say it was true.
Each person's view of the truth differs, for instance there are half a dozen people on this very forum who believe
sisu are innocents in the destruction of CCFC, on the other hand the very great majority believe sisu are the guilty
party. You form your own opinion.
I felt let down that he seemed happy to dig and dig into the council. Which is great and is his job.
Yet he failed to get an answer from SISU over very basic questions.
He had a great opportunity to challenge JS.
Yet he just reported what she said.
Yet when this was pointed out he would arrogantly and vehemently deny it and maintain he had caused many admissions from both SISU and The council.
I bare him no ill will.
However I will not change my opinion that his journalism was mostly a regurgitation of other people's stuff.
I saw very little investigative journalism
