Kenilworth and Cov what would you do? Would you follow the Sky Blues as far as Leamington? Or would you just stop watching them?

At the moment a lot of fans are saying they'd never follow Cov outside of Cov but what if they were nearer than Sixfields but still a bit of a trek?

I'd be really I certain then. If it was Leamington I could easily get on a train or bus or just drive. It's not far on fact for me it's better than the Ricoh.

However I'd have a problem with it on
principle. If a new team started at the Ricoh would I follow them instead when I've got the Sky Blues on my doorstep? Not sure if I'm honest.

For me, I like to go to a pub or two on the walk to the ground, there is no way I am walking across fields to get there !

Its got to be in Coventry, i wanna go to a few pubs first and chippy on the way home and another boozer after that don`t wanna be walking through some farmers field in the middle of knowhere, what about the land on the old Courtaulds by the clock tower on the Foleshill Rd 1 mile from city centre

Good call but I think its already sold, but if CCFC did want to build within the city boundaries and the Council don't sell them the Ricoh (at market rate, not cheaply) then we should put pressure onto the council to allow them to do it. But the relationship has deteriorated so much that this is not going to happen.

To me it's not the physical distance or how easy it is to get there (it's quicker and easier for me to get to Sixfields than the Ricoh, doesn't mean I'm going to go). It's all down to what I feel is acceptable as close enough to Coventry which is something you can't really say until they make an announcement on where it is. From your examples between Cov and Kenilworth would be OK. On the Cov side of Leamington (assuming they won't build it actually in Leamington) would be on the edge of what i'd consider acceptable, the far side of Leamington would be past the point I wouldn't consider it Coventry anymore.

Don't ask me to justify or explain why as I can't it's just what I feel and I guess everyone will have a slightly different line they won't cross but we all know every step they take away from the City boundary the larger the number of supporters who won't go.

id say the distance between kenilworth & coventry, is maybe similar to the distance between cov & nuneaton... and lets be honest the ricoh doesnt sit too far off there! id go if it was there.. but i still dont see it happening, thats not to say i dont think SISU are serious now.. as im coming round to the fact that they will do this & they have other ideas about how to make this financially viable for them.. but i just dont see ACL ( and when i say ACL , i mean the council ) letting it go that far.. what on earth are they going to do with the ricoh if they lets SISU build a new ground.. there has to be a deal done somewhere down the line between these two pair

Ideally it should be in the CCC boundary if we're going to use the name "City".

If we move out we can't legitimately call ourselves representative of the city can we?

In terms of what I's accept, it has to be closer to Cov than to any other town/city. If it's in Kenilworth then it's not Cov, if it's on the border then maybe. But I really can't see them putting a stadium in the land of NIMBYs.

This would normally come down to where the City planners want to put it, assuming the development was being welcomed by the City to generate commerce.
It might be expected that the planners would put it on the outskirts of the city rather than in the centre to avoid traffic congestion in the centre.
If that was the case no one would give much thought to whether it was just inside or just outside the boundary
(or half way to Leamington! I don't think it would possibly be more!)

Why not build it in the city centre most of it is empty anyway, build it on the old Cov and Warwick Hospital all way across to the old post office sorting office etc it works for Cardiffs, Millennium Stadium.

Seriously though imagine the business it would bring to the economy.

I think traffic congestion at either of the two sites rumoured would be far worse, especially when you look at the failure of the green travel plan at the Ricoh.

At least in the center of town you've got transport links and people can walk there. You might actually hit your green travel plan.

I think you're right, most City fans wouldn't care if it's a little bit outside. I was more talking about the residents of either Brandon or Kenilworth. Look at the opposition to HS2 or in fact any development there. You think Sisu want that fight?

Why?

Would you drive? I'd walk in. Most would get the train or bus. Even if a few thousand drove we currently don't even fill the Tesco car park, I'd bet that the ghost town of a city center would handle it.

Maybe they do, maybe that's part of their plan. Have the stadium somewhere they know will gets loads of objections so they can claim they're trying to build it but other people are blocking them.

I know we've had these before, but it's what I buy as 'Coventry'myself, and Leamington sure as hell ain't it!

tbh I don't see the Ricoh as 'Coventry' myself, but then my family's from Binley and Stoke, so maybe it's a hard sell for me.

Could just about tolerate Baginton (is Coventry airport after all), round by the Wallsgrave Triangle, Warwick Uni, all those kind of sites. Struggle once we get to Ryton, Meriden...even Brandon and the like.

tbh it's subjective for me (why should Brandon be worse than Baginton after all!), I could only answer the question once land and permission was confirmed, I think!

Baginton would be good for motorway access. Arguably a lot better than the Ricoh.

If Sisu were to build it there then I'd have no problem providing it was capable of expansion to 30000. At least this whole sorry saga would come to an end.

Actually I say it would come to an end but what will the council so with the Ricoh? Leave it empty or put a rival club in?
