Allowing for the obvious 'this won't really happen' stuff, I'd have liked a lot of the stuff they're claiming in place of what we have/had at the Ricoh. Having it primarily as a football venue that's the entire hub for the team including facilities that can be hired is a good idea, and one of the downers of the Ricoh was our lack of identity, it was mad that we had to press to even get the club crest put up.

(I get it's all lip service and just a flight of fancy, but they have addressed some good points within the fabrication)

Yeah that'd be fine...if it looked halfway decent!

Just doesn't... inspire. And forget the politics, our owners are supposed to be in the business of inspiring.

Rather than a big fat meh of a negotiating tactic.

You mean the pictures of it? Seems fairly bog-standard modern stadium fare to me, you'd have to go with the wacky designs to stand out nowadays. The new 49ers stadium being built is one of the only ones that actually stands out, everything's the same now.

That aerial shot makes it look like a toilet seat with some Harpic squirted round the rim?

In six years I have found SISU totally uninspiring. They
Missed the boat on selling the dream, so really needed land purchase before this debacle.

YEah, that was the annoying thing with the Ricoh. Lack of income notwithstanding but the fight to even have our crest up on the outside of the building. I don't know about being tenants it was almost like we were sleeping on a mates' sofa.

Agree with this 100%

The Fletcher badge fiasco was a joke.

They are but I dunno it just looks... cheap and quickly knocked up.

Which of course it probably is(!)

I dunno, still think the council's wisest next move would be to help them out in finding some land personally, let's see who pushes this furthest(!)

How is the land zoned around the Ricoh? Is there any reason the remain land there or ajoining land couldn't have been used to build these facilites. To be honset I couldn't care less where the academy is located and where the team train (within reason!), doesn't make any difference to me if I go past those facilites to get into the stadium.

Agree with you about identity but thats something that could be very easily sovled at the Rioch. Put up a building wrap, flags on lamposts etc and you're done. Would be an ideal project for the Trust if there wasn't all this mess to deal with.

Just what we have come to expect from our owners trying to con us yet again.
Can't even get there own designs done.
Secondhand design that has been thrown away by another smaller club completely embarrassing
.
But I knew I'd seen that design somewhere before.

comments from the architect that designed it

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/new-coventry-city-stadium-would-6434865

I found this comment of his interesting

"Mr Rogers said he was unable to put a figure on the cost of construction or the potential size of any site at this stage"

Just wondered if whilst designing anything the clients budget or the size of floor area might be be important ?:thinking about:maybe to get an idea of what was possible and what wasnt ?

tbf to him, probably depends where it's built too.

A lot of the Ricoh spend was decontaminating the land (twice:whistle:) after all.

Architects don't care about budgets! They just want to show how their vision expresses their artistic philosophy as well as how we interact with our fellow man in today's modern society. We can all agree nothing does that better than vomitories and car parks.

I think Labovitch who has just been on skyports has slandered the council, be very interesting their response to some of the accusations he has just made on Sky

He accused them of trying to hide previous transactions regarding the building of the Ricoh. I feel he has just put his size ten very much in the shit

depending on exactly how tied down the council are by the JR he could have dropped himself / SISU in a spot of bother there.

which just means it's all pointless. I could get an architect to draw me up some plans but if I don't tell him I've only got 10 acres and £250K and he does something that needs 50 acres and will cost £5m it's all a bit of a pointless exercise.

Yeah that's architecture really, they come up with something and then it's slowly stripped away by actual real constraints. Very rarely do early plans match the final product.

Know any architects??? Of course they care about budgets. But if a client comes to them and asks them to knock up some drawings for a stadium for nothing they aren't bothered about the budget - it is all pie in the sky anyway.

Can you design us a stadium?
Sure where's the site?
Ah well we haven't got one at the moment.
Rrright ....No problem here's one I prepared earlier.

Stop posting this crap it's not helpful to debate. The club have turned down several offers of revenue sharing and offers to negotiate for more.

We could be perfectly viable at the Ricoh if our owners wanted it.

It's not crap, they have offered to cross invoice so that on paper our revenues look bigger but in fact brings no actually cash into the club, which means that money will need to be invested to meet fan expectations.

In our championship relegation season 9 teams had lower attendances that us, only 3 teams had lower turnovers (exl. Parachute payments and transfers in).

With our biggest average attendance income (£5.7m 21.3k) we'd still have only around half the turnover of the likes of Reading and Southampton had when they got promoted.

Oh revenues matter and were not right previously you'll get no argument there.

But ACL have stated repeatedly that they are willing to negotiate further revenues if the club wants (ignoring the rights to 100% of football income Sisu threw away with the rent strike). To claim that "the revenues are not available" IS crap.

I know three architects. They all concur, although Art Vandelay is argumentative.

I suggest there may be some correlation between their attitude and this outcome------Yeah that's architecture really, they come up with something and then it's slowly stripped away by actual real constraints.

No the original offer was for cross invoicing, plus the ACL have got themselves tied into a poor deal with compass, where they only make a measly 10% profit on F&B's..how?.

This new ground is not the answer but neither is renting the Ricoh with no access to revenues.

Whoever said it was? Stop putting words in my mouth.

When the 400k offer was made pre-admin it included cross invoicing.

However, from when the Ricoh opened until this January, CCFC had the option to buy Higgs shares and with it 100% of the football income and 50% of the rest. - OFFER 1

When they reduced the rent offer to £150k they stated that they were willing to listen to offers on any revenues - OFFER 2

We do not know about any negotiations since then (well I don't, if you have inside info, please share) so therefore no change in position AFAWK.

So again, unless you have evidence that ACL have stated that CCFC will never be allowed access to the Ricoh revenues, it remains crap.

It's clear from this the SBK is saying the new stadium will limit the club to bottom half of the championship, I was pointing out that so does renting the Ricoh with no access to revenue - that's clear when you benchmark us against rival championship teams.

Your response was was about OTT.

Something has to change, and I'm still hoping it's some kind of ownership / buyout of ACL.

I don',t for one minute believe that Sisu are serious about this project,, they are using this media coverage as leverage to force the CCC hand, we all know this we all know that deals have been offered and deals have been rejected from both sides. If you still think that both sides are acting on behalf of the fans you are deluded, both have blame both have questions to answer, my only problem is CCC do not run the club SISU do and maybe have more to answer.. I do not like Sisu or what they have and are doing to this club and if they have money to build then they also have money to buy the ricoh...

So TF, Ann Lucas stop fuckin about CCC sell with conditions, sell to Sisu who then have the exit plan they wanted and let them walk away with the invetsed money... They dont care for the city, people or its development, TBH why should they they want money,, they want to win a court cases, they want everything other than to run a football club.. This is now beyond a joke, this is breaking hearts and costing any future the club has in regards to the new blood who want to belong to a club that represents where they are from.

I m not proud to say i belong to this club, not proud to see our name in the media for the mess we are in, i would much prefer being known for producing and playing so many homegrown players aswell as playing good football .. All parties should be made to come together should be made to talk and lay the cards on the table in regards what both or all parties want and then get it done, before its goes beyond repair..

Aha - get the freehold and they can build the new stadium NEXT TO THE RICOH! Problem solved, everyone happy ...
