I thought exactly the same. They mentioned that for one exhibition they got a record 13000 people through the door. For the majority of the clubs time that was happening on a fortnightly basis..

Have I read the same report as everyone else?

Apart from Springstein and the Tennis I can't see any large revenue generators in there. A venue of this size and flexibility needs to be putting on something 4 or 5 days of the week, not a handful a year. Question Time? Well that will pull the punters into the city won't it!!

Interesting to see the wedding business has dropped off. Maybe the appeal was to get married at the home of the Sky Blues rather than the Ricoh?
The events advertised are the ones the public/trade can go to. They apparently do corporate events and other stuff that isn't advertised but generates revenue. Also from experience you need a couple of days to put up and a day or so to take down a trade show.

not quite the case though in terms of usage that is advertised though is it .....

http://www.ricoharena.com/business/business-events/

http://www.ricoharena.com/entertainment/entertainment-events/

http://www.ricoharena.com/sport/sport-events/

Think you will find that they have had some major national conferences etc that are not publicised..... eg Boots and Sainsbury's national conferences

Like many conference and exhibition businesses not all their events are publicised. Also on some of the events there are set up/break up times to consider all of which the promoter concerned pays for. Will it be as busy as they would like no because they will have held back on booking alternative events because of keeping availability for CCFC - some events are planned and booked 6 to 12 months in advance and you cannot plug those gaps with major events easily. Is the business plan to rely on irregular big hit events or is it to attract and focus on smaller events and a more constant stream of income? It is not positioned to compete directly with the NEC.

There must be something going on there because they have been recruiting for staff recently.

The only info we have is what PWKH said the other day

Turnover 2011was £6.6m 2012 was £7.8m 2013 was £12.5m and 2014 is projected at £13.4m

Income from CCFC in 2013 figures total of £12.5m would have been Escrow account £336k match day costs £230k plus F&B income say £800k = £1.366m then you have to take out the cost of sales for F&B say £540K plus the match day costs recharged £230k net effect is a gross profit £596k on CCFC income. So when looking at the bottom line you can not simply take out the loss of rent and say that is what reduces the net profit.

The 2013 figures saw a loss of gross CCFC rental income from £1.347m down to £566k but Turnover apparently up to £12.5m from £7.8m that I suspect is an increase in turnover even if you take out the Olympic games effect.

Until proven otherwise you would have to go with the projection for 2014 which would be based on the 5 months already gone, the business that has been booked (usually 6 to 12 months in advance) and past experience. PWKH says the projection is for £13.4m without any income from CCFC.

Factor in the savings on profit and cashflow from the new loan, the non replacement of senior staff, and savings on utilities etc - is failure so certain as some would have us believe? Not saying it is going to be a gold mine but it is possible that the Ricoh can survive without CCFC isnt it?

Ideally CCFC would be at the Ricoh with some some security of occupation, but I think it is wrong to state failure of the Ricoh without CCFC as a fact - it isnt it is an opinion based on very few facts

Compared to most other "football stadiums" it looks pretty awful doesn't it. Weber Shadwick I assume are in overdrive but it looks even worse than I thought. Without a main tenant the arena will become White (elephant) City. If Leicester get their licence that will almost certainly be the death knell.

So if SISU get their way and get hold of the stadium, do you think they will make plenty of money by getting more people in? I know they talk of getting the planets best people in to manage things for them, will this do the trick?

Do you think this extra money will be enough to bail out the losses they make on the football side? They seem to have been losing between £5m-£10m each year, so they need to make an awful lot from other events, and get a lot better at running a football club. Do you think they up to it?

OSB58's links only show 18 days worth of events for 2014. There must be a hell of a lot of unadvertised events taking place!!

That assumes you are talking about just the stadium bowl where the pitch is. Yes without our club the pitch is underused but the pitch isn't the only space the Ricoh has Do most other football stadiums have the other facilities that the Ricoh has? Had Sisu bought the higgs share we could have been partaking in this - instead they went on the rent boycott and we ended up in Northampton (

I imagine there is, or it's not fully booked yet, but as they do tend to publish accounts all will be revealed in due course. As long as they are generating enough money to offer the club a decent rent, then surely that's all we need.

I make that 347 unaccounted for days. The Ricoh complex could easily host more than one event a day so this is very poor.

What is the purpose of ACL? A QUANGO that doesn't really need to exist. CCC could run it and remove the need for a middle man.

You really think that it's not being used for 347 days, or you just believe that you should be given full details of what is going on when, and whether those events are open to the public?

Compared to who come on link please you said most other?????

If they get a licence for what they only have the bowl and the surrounding concourse they do not have an arena attached or space to build one.
If you want tio use a example at least use one that is on a level playing field as the Ricoh?

Oh and if you love it that much then trot off and start supporting them, don't worry you won't be missed.

I go past every day on the way to work believe me there is something on nearly every day. My lad also works there as they have had to take on more staff to cope. so good for local employment as well.

WELL DONE RICOH you haven't let Sisu bully you like so many others have.

At least you now admit the Ricoh ACL and Coventry council are far more important to you than the football club.

As long as the Ricoh survives you are happy.

I admire your honesty but as this is a forum solely for the purpose of the football club, a club that's far more important than a decaying edifice in Foleshill, isn't it time you quit this arena and focused your efforts on your primary interest - ACL and the Ricoh arena.

Believe me me with no permanent tenant you face a tough time ahead. History is against you surviving.

On behalf of supporters of the football club good luck.

Mr G, if you think that we won't get back to the Ricoh, and you don't believe a new stadium will be built, what do you think our short term (say 3 years) and long term (say 5 years plus) future is?

Just answer the question?

Yes the Ricoh does mean a lot to me it is in my City and I am proud of it.
I am a proud Coventrian and I will challenge anything that is slagged off in my city.
The Football club has been taken out of my City and as they are unlikely to return I am finding it harder to support them.
So you prefer sisu and Leicester to CCFC well done to you, you have also shown your true colours.

Sorry I'm interested only getting the club back in Coventry and I don't give a stuff for who or what else is damaged as a consequence and anyone who cares more for concrete that the club is unfathomable. If it burnt down tomorrow I geniunely wouldn't care.

Love Tim
love Sisu
loves the fact that Coventry play any where as long as it is not in Coventry or the Ricoh.

Oh sisu will give it them for free with all events and tea money going into CCFC coffers.:thinking about:

They just want what is best for City and don't take anything out.

And if they get said ownership what sort of rental deal do you think will be applied?

These people that want Shitzu to get their grubby little mits on the stadium are totally deluded. They seem to believe that it would in some way be paradise.

Yes they believe it will make the City worth about 100 million and that they can sell it on for 150 million very deluded.

They have always had the chance to buy into it but have not taken it up? I never understood that. They want a situation now where they can end up as our landlords...that is what they want, the revenue streams for themselves. To recoup on a long term investment.

Tonylinc

It is no longer about just revenue streams. It is also about the surrounding land. If Shitzu get their way that will be sold for development, the club will get a deal to play at the Ricoh (God only knows at what rent!) and all existing contracts will be reviewed. Following all of that the club will be put up for sale at a wholly unbelievable amount of money.

This is good news for people worried that SISU Will succeed in stealing the Ricoh. Their intention was to starve ACL, but NOPM is starving them instead.

NOPM is officially dead. People are now happy to pump money into the hedge fund as Barnsley will prove.

I wonder if the football league will allow next season all their home games at the away venue? They'd be quids in then.

Still in denial Grendull? NOPM is very much alive & kicking & will bring SISU down eventually.

A different view would be that as far more people aren't going than are going, then NOPM is alive and well. Most people's views haven't changed, some are happy to go to home games, some are happy to go to away games, and an awful lot of people don't give a hoot about any moral objections, they just don't fancy going much out of their way to get to a game.

The football league are only concerned about fixtures being met, maybe you could suggest they play in your garden, how much would you charge for tickets, would the rent be free, who owns the freehold????

The majority of money will come from Barnsley fans. Our fans will contribute about £8,000 at 40%. Should pay expenses to get the lads there, but Sisu will have to pay the players wages.

I'm not going so NOPM for me.

Everything you post would be funny if our predicament wasn't so serious.

So over 90% of us have stopped going to home games. I would say more than half of the ones that are staying away are for different reasons than NOPM.

NOPM. Not going to any game or spending any money that SISUE won't get. Dead?

Will never go to Northampton as we belong in Coventry. Dead? If not can they go to a cup game without rants from yourself Grendull?

Can't afford to go to home games in Northampton. Dead? This won't easily change. But could have saved up money not spent by not going to Northampton or getting treated to a game for christmas. Can they go to a cup game Grendull?

Will never go to another game whilst SISUE are still with us. Are you one of these Grendull as you say you won't go to any more games after being a STH for many years? If so why do you stick up for them in every post? :thinking about:

Won't go to any game in Northampton but will go to every away game. Bradford is an away game. Are they allowed to go to an away cup game Grendull?

Elderly, disabled or both. If offered help for the cup game would they be able to go without you having a rant at them Grendull?

You lump everyone together Grendull. Yet you are one of a certain group so you know it isn't just NOPM that have stopped going to so called home games. And also the attendances have not gone up......have gone down a bit though. And you say that NOPM is dead :) So which group have the NOPM joined?

And if SISUE got ownership of the Ricoh everything would suddenly become rosy and the revenue wouldn't go to the investors that have taken a massive gamble?

I would say that our future will be uncertain until at least the time that SISUE have gone. And when they have finally gone we will have to see if we still have a club and then see what our new owners are like. It could so easily be out of the frying pan and into the fire :(
