Although he treated us fairly, he was a copper at the end of the day, and would not be your mate or pal if things got serious, he was a peace keeper and was better for him to have a laugh resulting in a quiet day at work rather than be like cudworth who always wanted to try and intimidate some.. deffo not one of us.. just a guy doing his job and wanting peace not paperwork

What, an Everton supporting yam yam?

Seriously, PC Mapp is a good bloke and it is a real shame he won't be traveling with us any more. Makes no sense really. What faces will the Northants OB know to look out for in a large and boisterous following at Barnsley? Crazy decision by WMP.

To be honest its the right decision by WMP as we now dont play in WM they are saying its not their responsibility and are saving money

I can understand their reasoning to an extent, but surely it is about effectively policing large groups of people who (for the most part) reside within their jurisdiction. Anyhow, I hope we see his return sooner rather than later.

They would of done intelligence handover's etc a long time ago... and boisterous .. why.. is Barnsley all of a sudden a rough away day now and we all need to take our pitch forks, anyone wanting to go to be "boisterous" will be going home a tad sad.

It was just a general point I was making. And by boisterous I meant more high spirits, the sort of stuff most of us are not averse to at an away cup tie when we've had a few, I wasn't alluding to the potential for trouble because there won't be any.

I actually spoke to PC Mapp before the P'boro game and he told me that his counterparts at both Rotherham and Barnsley had called him to express concern. Surely the point of a liaison officer is to build bridges and engage with people, and given that the vast majority of City fans won't step foot in Northampton it kind of renders the whole thing pointless imo.

That's a very good point - All the best to PC Mapp in the future.

"We will not be as safe without him". Are you serious?
He was a copper doing his job, and being paid handsomely for it. He was never one of us.

Who said he was one of us? Paid handsomely? I would say they are not paid enough for the job they do and the crap they have to put up with.

So we will end up with someone that don't know us fans. We have a fair amount of fans that would have been arrested without him intervening. He knows those of us that wouldn't cause trouble. He would always step in and sort out any situation for us. Will his replacement do the same?

I am not exactly a lover of the police. But we do need them. There are good ones as well as bad. He is one of the good ones. He will be missed by most of our regular away fans.

Didn't Fernando say this thread had ended?

I do to most away games, I didn't like his predecessor (Cudworth?) too much.

Which Cudworth senior or junior? Junior played in our last really successful youth cup side. It was a toss up between him and Gavin Strachan who got the last budgeted professional contract. As Gordon was manager it went to .....guess?

Cudders was a good defender and a nice young chap! His dad was a nice bloke too.
