Not One Penny More has been pushed on here ad-nauseum since before the start of the season, and there has seemed to be little debate up until now what it means, cn't go changing the definitions just because it doesn't suit some people now that we have a big draw away in the FA Cup.
Those that have said that they won't go to Sixfields becuase it's not in Coventry but will support the club away regardless, fair enough, but those who have consistently said that those who do go to Sixfields are prolonging Sisu's reign at the club due to financially supporting them, but then want to go to Arsenal away to "support the team" are being more than a little hypocritical.
There will be some who won't go to Arsenal as they fully support NOPM, which is fair enough, consistency shown there, but lets not have people say that NOPM doesn't necessarily mean "Not One Penny More" when it suits.

Man! I admit I started this thread as a bit of a WUM knowing I'd get a response but I didn't think I'd get people actually defending their hypocrisy.
It was in response for the many daily threads by those who have called other fans scabs and blamed them for single handedly bringing the club to its knees by "funding Sisu".

There was plenty of debate months ago, with the more rational pointing out that NOPM was a name covering a "broad church" - I particularly recall the posts (ironically) discussing whether there should be a High Priest of NOPM who could rule on the minutiae.....
Personally at that time I said that if we got to Wembley I would attend, as having burdened my kids with supporting Coventry, I wouldn't miss that day out with them.
If that upsets some purists (who oddly spend all there time supporting SISU, even while protesting how they don't) , then so be it.

agreed!! won't be going, i note a couple of posters saying NOPM exists anymore, it DOES if YOU want it to!!! don't used the, it doesn't exist excuse to justify going to cup games, if you want to go, then go, it bothers me not, NOPM is still existing for me!!
Only my opinion, i don't knock anyone for making their own choices!!

Really, it doesn't matter to me if anyone decides to go to Sixfields or not; to go to the Emirates or not.
One thing brings us together on this site and it's support of the same football club. What starts to upset the apple cart is when one side tells the other what they can and can't do. What they should and shouldn't do. When someone decides to start a campaign or movement with rules about what's acceptable and what isn't then those that support that campaign need to decide whether they'll abide by those "rules".
At the end of the day, it's not breaking any laws if they don't. No one is going to die or anything, are they? However, it's a bit rich to be chanting the NOPM mantra for six months and then change your interpretation to suit. I'm more than happy for people to change their minds, I just don't want my son and myself or anyone else who decides to support Coventry City at Sixfields to be called scum, scab etc by them.

I went to Barnsley because it was the first game I could get to this season. If I can get to Arsenal I will go to that as well. It didn't matter if it was Arsenal, Barnet, Chelsea or Colchester. If I can afford to go to an away game I will go. I support the concept of NOPM.

I disagree i believe a total boycott of sixfields combined with current levels of away support would force Sisu to re-negotiate a Ricoh return.
Im not saying it has to be a permanent return, it could be whilst a new stadium is being built.
A total boycott of sixfields would heap more pressure and embarrassment on the football league, maybe even forcing them to act.
Regarding Nopm its the only vehicle we have until something new comes along that the majority of fans can relate to.
Yes their are different levels of Nopm and most probably fall into the boycott sixfields bracket.

Why is it so hard for people to understand? The campaign is Keep Cov in Cov. Not One Penny More is a slogan. A simple slogan. Such as a slogan for a large political party was "yes we can". Slogans are a simple and effective way to express a feeling. It is not a law or a specific instruction. NOPM means different things to different people. To me it means not going to sixfields and not buying any merchandise from the shop. Others take it differently.
I have never once said NOPM to everything! Otherwise why would I even bother to waste my time on this forum? NOPM to everything is giving up.

Personal choice. I know it doesn't really make much sense if I am prepared to go to away cup games. I guess I am annoyed at the lack of structure and organisation when it comes to merchandise this year.

I agree with almost all of that.
My main difference is that whilst I agree that we fans cannot change the situation, I firmly believe that we can strongly influence it.
There are few businesses that can indefinitely ignore the views of their customers - and this is not one.
Even if SISU could genuinely fund significant losses for five (or given the lack of progress on the stadium, maybe six, seven....) years, they have said that they will be looking to raise funding to build the new ground. As the customer base settles at its new much reduced level it would be a brave (in its Yes Minister meaning) investor who would assume that customers would come flooding back to a new ground "near Coventry".

If you look back at the posts from the start of the season you'll find one about the way cup game at Orient (our first away cup game of the season). NOPM is bought up and the question of if away cup games are part of NOPM and the general response is that away cup games aren't part of NOPM as it starts making things too complicated and you have to communicate the message to everyone.
I've always taken the main thrust of NOPM to be not attending at Sixfields and not buying merchandise. That being said I didn't go to the Orient game as I didn't want to give SISU my money. I also don't, and won't ever, go to a home game at Sixfields and I've not spent anything in the shop or purcased a subscription to Sky Blues Player this year. I haven't done any of those things under the banner of NOPM, I've done it as that's what I feel is right.
Will I go to Arsenal? To be honest I haven't decided yet. That weekend I will be celebrating my 40th, for a long time my wife had been planning to hire a box at the Ricoh for my friend and family but obvioulsy SISUs actions have made that impossible so instead I'll be celebrating in London and will actually be about a 10 min walk away from Emirates. On the one hand it seems stupid not to go when I'm so close by, on the other hand I'm not particularly comfortable knowing that SISU will get a % of my ticket money.
If I was a die hard NOPM supporter the thing that would annoy me about a game like this is that you would be making the sacrifice knowing that it will probably sell out anyway as those 20K extra supporters that appeared for the JPT game will all be after a ticket so you would miss out and it wouldn't really make any difference.
Out of interest can those that have a go at NOPM supporters actually give an example of someone who claims to be NOPM and has 'broken the rules'?

I think Dazzle maybe right on this TBH. History has shown what people power can do from preventing planning to changing governments. Although the march we did and the protests we have done don't seem to have come to much (if anything) maybe the right march or the right protest might. Maybe the suggested march in London will, or maybe a total boycott at Sixfields for 3 three games followed by thousands flocking to Northampton to flood the place so Sixfields cannot cope might do the trick. I really do think if it was target specific rather than generic, then we might start seeing results. I also think the media angle is a good idea because from what I have seen, Sisu/Otium certainly do not like the attention it focuses on them with the legal threats that have surfaced (the ones we know about).

It's strange that you lot who seek "balance" in your arguments are accepting of the sixfield attendees but lambast anyone who dare want to go to Arsenal. Why? because they subscribed to NOPM and so are turncoating at the sniff of a big day out? Give these people a break. Do you not think its hard enough that they cant watch the team every other week? It is ok for people to have a pop at people who go to sixfields for giving money and supporting them, meanwhile stating they will never give them a penny yet as soon as a big game comes up they change. Of course people change their minds and can do what they want and again I hope they see a great game.
Not everybody who doesn't go to sixfields goes on about nopm, it's different reasons they don't go. Nopm stuff has gone quiet, with it being hammered in every thread.

I am sure Michael will explain to you - NOPM started because of the decision to play home games at sixfields. Kind of like a knee-jerk reaction for want of a better phrase. That soon evolved in to Keep Cov In Cov because it came apparent that NOPM is virtually impossible, and hasn't really affected our lovely owners. Does that mean we can't still support the concept of it?
I will go to as many away games as I can this year depending on funds and babysitting. Whether they be cup games, barnsley, arsenal, crawley etc. etc. I couldn't really give a toss. Infact I would prefer not to be going to Arsenal, because I prefer older little grounds (QPR is one of my faves). However I am looking forward to the fact there are going to be 8,000ish cov fans at the game cheering the lads on, because at the end of the day we are all cov fans. Also whether SISU get £5, or £5mill from the game, it is still a big "fuck you" when 8,000 go to london, 7,000 go to mk dons, and 3,000 go to barnsley when they cant achieve them numbers at "home" games.
