I wonder what Sisu/Otium will think when they see that there will probably more Cov fans watching a news alert from CET than go and watch the team at Sixfields

Bedworth would make sense, In need of regeneration, outside coventry but only just, houses a large number of city fans and has train station. The gypsy lane site is right next to the proposed bermuda park station.
The council may struggle to decline a stadium, investment in an area targeted for commercial growth. Could sisu build a platform in return for planning permission - interestingly enough wasn't this byngs area of expertise.

I know this is speculation but do you remember who Fisher was seen talking to at the game against Gillingham?

I'm guessing it was Byng. I think it's been fairly obvious Byng went over to the dark side post admin. I expect he's Joy's exit strategy once she can add some value. Let her take the stick, he rides in as saviour.

Only just though, the griff is nearer bedrocks collycroft heartland than nuneaton town centre.

Only speculating buts it's always seemed more likely to be around bedworth due to the lack of distinguishable borders with cov and t residents aren't as prim and proper as somewhere like Brandon or warwick uni.

Wake up people,we're possibly on the verge here of NEVER seeing a ccfc game in the city of Coventry again.

That is a very good question why would someone supposidly representing business interests in Coventry be supporting a business interest(new Stadium) outside Coventry to the detriment of businnesses in Coventry:facepalm:

It's coventry and warwickshire chamber of commerce. Can see her justifying it by saying it will bring investment to the deprived north of the county.

No coincidence with Todays breaking story for 6000 new homes around Clifton on Dunsmore,obviously under Rugby ,but they can lie also ,Can't they,or play around with timings .

If the CET has an exclusive i would just like to thank the Trust for pushing sisu into a corner meaning they have to tell us all what's going on. Assuming the CET exclusive is about either a new ground or development with the ricoh, off course.

Good job well done. Not bad for donkey's ;)

OK, suspending the obvious disbelief for a minute, what "investment" might a stadium bring? Yes, construction costs with some temporary building etc jobs, erecting a stadium almost within sight of a bigger one. But when it is finished, what jobs? CCFC playing and off-field staff, previously at the Ricoh and currently in temporary accommodation plus stewards, catering staff, etc. In other words pretty much the same sort of jobs that were at the Ricoh (minus the Casino, Hotel, etc) but in smaller numbers to serve a much smaller stadium. Within just a few years, the development would have brought about a reduction in employment in the "North Coventry Area." Not much economic benefit there.

Of course, there might (again, if you believe the fantasy) be retail, leisure and other jobs but any such developments would draw trade from similar businesses in the surrounding towns. The customer population would have no new money to spend so any jobs would at best be relocated from other parts of Bedworth and Nuneaton plus Coventry. Oh and a "Community Hub" providing public services, paid for by whom during the most massive cuts in public spending since the 1930s?

So, whatever is said about the benefits of investment, it seems to me they would be an illusion.

The 6000 homes is hardly news in rugby. Its been talked about for at least 20years that I know of. Its what's referred to locally as rugby new town and will be on the old radio station site.

Not Cov for me personally. I'd call it Nuneaton. And for that reason, I'm out.

Would be ridiculous, but I suppose you could claim all the accessibility of the Ricoh and we all know how popular that is!

Agree with you there but that's how people sell these sort of developments. The uk in general struggles to create sustainable well paid employment so warehouse/retail jobs are always seen as a win by government.

Cov city centre is a prime example, its dying whilst the council allow retail development out of town at Central six, arena park and the new binley development. How many 'new' jobs have these really created?

Whether sisu really build the stadium is another matter but buying land and getting planning permission all cranks up the pressure on acl/ccc to sell the ricoh. They can then sell the land on again with outline planning permission for more than they brought it.

No mate, he has said something about 8 to 9 miles since the early rhetoric last summer, this is what Fisher said on 30th Oct.
Club want to have a stadium consultation group – made up of fans – who work with the club to ensure new stadium meets wants and needs of fans as much as possible. What is critical is to get the site right. Ideally it will be a large site as the plan is to have the academy next to the stadium. It has to be within 8 miles of Earl Street, although if an absolutely perfect site is found at say 9 miles then he wouldn’t expect the league to block it.

Are there other stadium developers also looking for land in the Coventry area that they are in competition with ????
