Looks significant to me: the talking is over, and we (ACL) are now working towards the future on that basis. SISU are ****ed. Clarke and Moussa on the way out: the implosion has now really begun.

The CVA has been well documented.

Not relevant to the Lucas statement, but why no factual info on the "new stadium". You suffer from acute myopia when it comes to the issues with our club.

PWKH has been in the media quite and on here a few times in the last 2-3 months and said that ACL have moved on and are set to thrive without the football club.

The Nii Lamptey interview with with council officials said that they don't sell assets.

Nothing was ever going to happen before the JR.

To me, it's just like any political statement, it says a lot without saying a lot.

The first part made me laugh a bit; "continue our transformation to become a truly competitive city - not just on a national stage but on an international one, too."

We're a long way off being a competitive City on the international stage, especially since the motoring industry left us.

I'm not surprised to see them moving on. In a way, I'm glad they've made this stance. I just hope SISU / OTIUM continue to take theirs with their intentions. Wouldnt be surprised to see the Ricoh become an outdoor exhibition centre now; an outside version of the NEC solely for concerts etc, which I think the model was always based on; never as a football stadium

Ps, just heard a clip on the radio. Nice to hear Dierdre Barlow doing the narrating for Anne ;)

CCC aren't ACL. Not heard the Nii Lamptey interview, but that's always been the case that the council don't sell land they lease it (probably why Joy is asking for that).

This is just a statement, to the entire council, that as of now we're not spending any more time on it. Not that we'll be OK, or that we might move on later. But that's it. Done. Moved on. Ball is in Sisu's court.

If it wasn't made then the assumption would be that talks are ongoing IMO.

But I see your point, maybe I'm a little more used to political language so read this stuff differently.

Think there are a number of things to take from the statement on a different levels

1) is that it is AL saying to her party and council members "I am a strong leader"
2) a statement to the general populace that the Council knows its responsibilities and will not prioritise CCFC above education, child protection, regeneration of the city etc
3) a public statement to ACL that as a stakeholder they have the CCC support to do what ever it takes to make the Ricoh a success with or without CCFC
4) a public statement to SISU that the ball is in their court. CCC have read the statements, know the progress that's been made .......... build if you have to, but it will cost you

Is it what has been thought before - yes....... but now it is said not thought that's the difference. Neither side can stand still and wait..............

I can't help but think that the clock for CCFC just moved a notch closer to midnight........... no place to call home, and unless something happens we do not know about no where to build one either

That was the weak point of the statement, if she'd have said something like "agreement is still possible, but the door may close" then the statement would be stronger.

If a new tenant arrives then the game changes.

SISU desperately need to make a statement. They're not usually slow to make one when they get made to look bad in the press so the silence could be seen as an indication they don't know how to spin their way out of the revelations of the last few days. More than one representative of SISU very clearly stated they were in talks with 2 local councils about the new ground. Either at least 2 of the councils are lying (and I'm sure SISU would have let us know if this was the case before you even consider repercussions for the councils in question) or SISU have been found outright lying in a way that's very difficult to spin their way out of.

This statement from CCC will put more pressure on SISU, the council are saying we're moving on, get on with building your ground. Ball now very firmly in SISUs court and they don't seem to know what to do with it.

Will be very interesting to see what SISUs next statement does say when it eventually appears.

Have they really spent that much time on it? They've had what 1 or 2 meetings with JS, there has been no negotiations on a purchase. The rental offers would have been ACLs finance team not council officers, other than getting agreement from those on the board, who are going to the board meetings anyway.

ACL made a couple of rent offers not the council. So are they saying ccc have moved on or ACL or both?

What it really says is we need ccfc but we will not be making any more offers, but please come and see us if you change your mind or want to make an offer.

Made me laugh the other day driving along the A45 from BHX to Coventry to see loads of electronic signs saying something like:

"Working to improve your City"

Then changing to:

"May be delays"

I think that up to today, ACL have not been given the green light to pursue any business that might interfere with CCFC matches.

This enables them to look elsewhere and perhaps gives an indication to other interested parties that there is an empty stadium available.

Realistically I think this will drag on to the end of the season when the JR is over (?)

It must be difficult to manage this, particularly if you know in reality no stadium can be built.

ANY business in a similar situation would look at the options. How long do ACL put up with business threats and games.

I can't see the club surviving this conflict.

Will improve the flow but will obviously cause delays.

Maybe the liquidations were preventing movement for ACL? The old lease still sitting.

Given todays news around the dropping of transfer restrictions Its possible Appletons work Is complete and both are now free to go about their business.:thinking about:

To be fair they have been very clear on their stance, they have moved on and have plans for a new stadium. This statement just confirms the fact that ACL/CCC have had no contact. Maybe the fairytale stadium is a little more real than people think......

This is just clarification that the site ain't for sale. Nothing we didn't know anyway. CCC know there is no serious chance of them building outside of the city. Councils talk to each other, I bet they didn't need FOI to find that out. Nothing will happen now until JR now. Sisu's eggs are clearly in 1 basket. My worry is what will happen if they loose. If they cared about the club it wouldn't be in Northampton. Why the FL passes hedge funds as fit and proper is beyond me, this is what they do. I'm not knocking hedge funds, they are what they are. What do the FL expect them to do?

No the Kenpas Highway/Kenilworth Road junction is being monstered... reckon I have to get up an hour earlier now till works end if I want to get into work before midday :(

She could of course have said we are in negotiation with 2 or 3 prospective tenants about making the Ricoh their new home, maybe people would have been more impressed with BS. I prefer an honest approach myself, and this seems to be just that.

Thought they were going to announce they would sell the freehold, or they've got someone else interested, but yeah bit of re hashing the same old bollocks - we're moving on but we want you back renting. A let down, I would have liked something that brings some conclusion to this one way or another.

Quite enjoyed parts of the meeting though, bit like PMQs but instead of talking about bombing Iraq arguing about where's the money coming from to fix the traffic lights on the Foleshill Road. Shame they can't get down to sorting out local problems instead of playing the usual Tory V Labour blame game. The bloke who missed his meeting made me laugh though, like any bird is going to have an affair with him.

So nothing has changed!

The council do not have a plan or new prospective tenant.
SISU continue to cling to the long shot of winning a frivolous judicial review to pay the costs of their incompetent decision to play in a shack 35 miles away.
The fans continue to be crapped on from a great height.

Happy 2014 everyone (oh and 2015 & 2016 & 2017 & 2018 etc.) because it is just the same as the previous years since 2007. Complete joke.

In short............Fuck the out of town hedge fund, we'll try and manage somehow or another and the whole site in question has been excellent for job creation in Coventry. It's obvious they want the team back but also fairly clear they are not going to bow down to these lowdown scumbags ! Stalemate is King and the fans are the mugs who pick up the pieces !
