Can anyone remember what SISU/Tim said about F&B revenue at Highfield Road? I ask because I found a figure from 2003/4 that isn't that massive.

Club accounts released
In figures released today, Coventry City announced losses of £8,146,489 before tax for the year ending May 31st 2004. A figure that was up from £5,656,469 in 2003. Turnover was down from £14.5m in 2003 to £7,888,438, mainly due to the ending of the parachute payments from the FA Premmiership. Match receipts netted £3,3m with commercial activities £4.4m as well as £84,596 forcatering.

I think that F&B = Smoke and mirrors. This is not about selling burgers, it about tying people or companies up with litigation no cost to yourself, by putting it against a company you own but have no interest or need to turn a profit, until you get what you want.

that might have been the season they Introduced the Stupid cashless.

SISU not to blame on this one, was under the Ray Ranson time if memory serves me, but the catering as SISU only know to well was under Compact I think.

So can I now boycott my works canteen?

Sorry you've lost me, I didn't ask a question that I would have expected to be answered with "Why". I was trying to find the figure Tim quoted about revenues which from memory seems to be at odds with that figure and was hoping someone could remember. My old man was a VP* so I rarely saw the rest of the ground from anywhere but our seats.

* That was his vice - didn't smoke but had a padded seat and somewhere warm at half time with a warming drink or two.

No they tried It at HR too ,under Hover think.

Your mixing match day revenues with all catering first of all. And the second sentence suggests you know the answer to your question.

Why did the club turn down the revenues + £400k rent deal if they're so important?

I thought ACL did offer their share of the matchday F&B plus cross invoicing in one offer. Also Isn't the joint venture between ACL and Compass for running the entire venue 7 days a week not just the matchday F&B?

No idea. Genuinely can't understand the attraction for Compass, especially as it stands.
I've also no idea why sisu do anything, why didn't they let the club go into administration before they took over? Dunno what's in it for them either.

They didn't off revenues plus £400k rent. They offered to cross invoice to allow for ffp according to the q and a and even that woad subject to agreement of Compass.


12: £100,000 has been publicised as the value of food and beverage income – is this 50% of the profits i.e. ACL’s half from the EIC joint venture?

ACL: In principle – we have all accepted that more work is needed on the detail of this, and it needs to be agreed with ACL’s contracted partner Compass, so it is not simply in ACL’s gift. Of course match-day income is also influenced by attendances, these we have seen drop from an average of 13,126 in 11/12 to a current year to date average of 9,259

Match-day F&B Turnover in 11/12 season was £1,010,992, with Nett Profit of £119,903.

ACL would be willing to give CCFC full details of the F & B accounts and were prepared to go open book and even allow CCFC to use the revenue figures in the clubs FFP calculations?


I still can't believe they only make c10% profit on F&B's, that's very poor and way below what pubs and restaurants would be aiming for.

I'll take your word, but is that the same deal? I know they were offering that before. To be honest, there's been so many offers I've forgotten which is which.

I think it's the same deal, the £150k and free deals excludes any discussions about F&B's IIRC.

I think that football isn't their biggest money spinner. I'd imagine the catering for conferences vastly outweighs that. Just a guess though.

If they'd also given the option to pay by Debit/Credit card then it would have worked a lot better. Like it or not, it did reduce queue time!!

OK. Could've sworn it was football revenues in cash as it were, plus the rest for FFP. But I honestly can't remember.

So F&B at the Ricoh is slightly more profitable than at HR then? (until we get Grendel's explanation). If we made £100k on 9k average crowd as opposed to £84k on 14k crowds?

Maybe pies just aren't that profitable?

You have throw inflation in there (is a beer £3.80 now?, the online inflation calculators say that would have been £2.90 in 2004). Plus our average attendance in the league was 15118, not 13k plus we had 1 cup game vs Southampton (9k)
