Abuse at Preston?? (3 Viewers)

My belief is that the blame , for this sad state of affairs, lies firmly with SISU.

They seek to divide and conquer us as fans.

In my opinion, it is all part of a plan to demonstrate that there is little support in Coventry for a football club, thus enabling them to relocate the club to a new ground in a location that will suit their plan and budget.

Of all the idiotic tripe that appears on here on an increasing basis this has to be up there with the best (or worst).

Paranoid, delusional nonsense. Also noted the one buffoon who actually "liked" this dross.

Don't worry Grendull. You keep all the titles you mentioned for your posts.

CCLC decided not to hold functions at Northampton, some members go to home matches, some do not.

I am not aware of any that do not respect the others decision.

This was always a ticking timebomb given the emotions running through supporters at the club but sadly this is a step too far, what next pushing a 12 yr old around because he is attending 6fields too??

Having an argument at a football match is a step too far?

Im sorry but people who go to sixfields are scabs in my eyes and in most peoples eyes, the club is divided which is a shame, roll on afc Coventry. Sisu have destroyed are club along with many more, Sisu will never come back to cov its Northampton sky blues they want, the quicker we start again the better.

So you think 4 blokes having a go at an old man is acceptable? What the argument was about is irrelevant.

Still working on that reading comprehension eh? He quite clearly says none of its acceptable and all sides are at it. Yet you manage to turn it into a ridiculous straw man so you can feel like a Superfan.

This is never going to happen though, cos the move to Northampton divided the fans right down the middle.

We can't stick together, but what we can do is to respect fellow City fans' views.

divided fans yes but not down the middle otis about 90%-- 10%

You're wrong, in most people's eyes the sixfields attendees aren't scabs. Great choice of user name by the way, just about sums you up.

I worked in the coal industry and lived through all this, with the scabs etc.

I saw families literally torn apart, i.e. there was one family where the dad and 3 sons all worked together. The strike happened. 3 (the dad and 2 sons, striked), the 3rd son worked. Then after a few months one of the other sons returned to work, saying he couldn't survive without wages and his children were hungry.

That family was torn apart and 10 years later, 10 years after the strike, fathers and sons and brothers were still not even on speaking terms with each other.

Now obviously the City thing is on a much lesser scale, but it does have a similar feel about it. Now I won't condone this sort of abuse stuff on any level, but it was bound sure to happen and it has.

This is human nature. We can moan about it all we want, but it was going to happen. People are passionate about football and about their team and they can see the club being torn apart.

As I say, I will not condone any abuse, but this situation has been created by the governing bodies here, the owners, the landlord and the council.

It was an accident waiting to happen. All we are left with now are fans divided, squabbling and lots of anger.

Well done all parties that contributed to this nightmare scenario. Having the thought of 5 years away and the owners forever being vague and moving the goalposts about where and when for the new stadium doesn't help one jot.

Trust me, it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

The owners in particular have an awful lot to answer for here.

Human nature is about respect.

You can't control events, you can control responses to events.

There was hardly an ounce of respect during the miners strike, NW, trust me. I worked through it.

I was on the staff and we were not in the NUM and not on strike, but I saw every day the lack of respect and bitterness and anger and spitting and fighting and name calling, from people who were once friends.

War is part of human nature, anger too. Normally rational people acting completely out of character.

I will not condone any abuse though on any level. If people want to go to Sixfields that is their choice.

This isnot war, and is not war with our own fans.

It's misguided idiots behaving like tools. Condoning or making excuses for their actions in any way drives another nail in the coffin. They're idiots.

Frankly I can't be arsed with this anymore, you all have the asylum.

Very insightful and considered post that I agree with almost entirely.

I'm pretty sure zero or almost zero attendances at Northampton would have brought this debacle to a conclusion. Those who are going are doing the club or the city of Coventry no favours.

Liked the song yesterday , take your shoes off if you hate SISU.Resulting in fans waving their shoes and trainers above there heads. Good tip for the Arsenal game, peaceful and good humoured but with a strong message. So would make great TV.

Agree with you on a lot of stuff Nw, but not on this.

People are passionate about their football. I am not saying this is war, this is obviously on a completely different scale.

Yes, it is misguided idiots, but all I am saying was that it was bound sure to happen. I don't condone any abuse on any level. This should all be about rational debate. Can't see why anyone would be surprised now that this happened though. It was always going to happen.

To be fair, that was not the point he was making. Yes, the post he was responding to said there have been insults on all sides, which is true, but all that name calling has largely been played out on the internet.

This specific incident was particularly unpleasant because of the circumstances. Call someone a scab on the internet and you might hurt their feelings a touch and wind them up; but here we had a relatively old and mild-mannered person (if it is who I think it is) being abused, aggressively, by a group of people from behind for a sustained period of time. That is an unpleasant and (for some) quite scary situation to be in.

To equate this unsavoury incident with the likes of RFC calling himself a superfan on an internet forum is just a nonsense. Sometimes you just have to call a spade a spade and stop hiding behind the 'everybody's as bad as each other' bollocks in order to justify the unjustifiable.

abuse is never justifiable and should never happen personally i won't ever give SISU another penny in any form i wish others did the same its the only language they will listen to.i will never abuse another person for not agreeing with me.

This situation annoys me, I met a bloke from CCLSC on the way to Crawley but after we exchanged details I saw on the TV the same bloke giving fans abuse going into Sixfields, I didn't end up joining as I thought it was disgusting.

It needs to be by rational debate, but when will we ever get that?

You look at the House of Commons and the rabble that becomes at times. If you put 200 people in a room together who are passionate about something but have totally differing views, you can be bound sure it will end up in raised voices, a probable slanging match and with some people getting aggressive and abusive.

It's wrong, but it's human nature. There is also a pack mentality that comes into play at times too.

This is just a tiny minority here, we have to recognise that and bear it in mind. We get morons at every game anyway. I remember City fans almost coming to blows over the 'lazy bastard' Leon Best at some home games.

This was always going to happen and we will never stop this sort of thing from happening. Just remember how small a minority it is who are throwing the abuse.

Don't think anyone can say this sort of thing is justifiable on any level.

But isn't there a lot of guessing about what actually happened yesterday, who was involved, what was said to whom, how old they were seems to be important to some, how big they were etc etc. Based on what has been written on this thread, there is an awful lot of over reaction.

Very fair points indeed.

Based on what has been written (the one account from someone who witnessed it) the reaction has been completely understandable and has basically just involved people saying it is out of order and oversteps the mark. Nobody is calling for a lynching. It was after all a verbal altercation of which I have witnessed many over the years amongst our fans, long before all this shit. Doesn't mean this isn't a new low in this context of what is going on at the moment though (if it did indeed play out as described).

Pretty much every Cov fans worst nightmare when our own turn on our own. The individuals need to take a deep breath that's for sure and behave but the bastards that continue to stir this up without doubt don't reside in Cov or probably even England and certainly don't give a shit what damage and division they have created. SISU and their bullshit and lies have created this, their 'Pretend new stadium' and their constant threats and litigation, their meetings for a select few, their ticket offers etc etc, others involved have done nothing more criminal than not lie down and be rolled over by these scum !

So, what have we learned?

* Some of our 'fans' are shouty idiots.

* It's okay to call people 'scabs' on the internet but face-to-face is jolly bad form.

...and some (mostly on SBT) love to play on the divide that they blame on SISU... and some others not only play on it, but uphold it, like some kind of fūcking trophy.

If you think that SISU are to blame for the actions of people like this?
You are officially: A twat.

So families and friends are falling out over it? Surely that is a bit OTT? The division is being caused by the people who are dividing.

If I didn't believe in Sixfields and my mates wanted to go then it is up to them, they would still be my mates.
