3. Often employ leverage: Hedge funds will often use borrowed money to amplify their returns. As we saw during the financial crisis of 2008, leverage can also wipe out hedge funds......................................................................................................I wish that had happened to SISU.

Seriously? this is the sort of thing that was perhaps relevent when they took us over and some people were worried because sisu are a hedgefund.

No one hates sisu now because they are a hedgefund, we hate sisu because they are killing our football club, have moved us out of the city, are lying to us, threaten fans with litigation and actually use litigation against a Charity that has done a great deal for our city, we hate them and think they are bad, not because they are hedgefund but because of their actions. Their filthy, self serving villainous, scummy fucking actions.

Bad does not follow, not all hedge funds act in the way SISU have. I think you should change the title and end it with BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE. I don't think SISU initially set out to take us where we are, but if you alienate your self from the wealth of your club which is and will always be the fans, oligarchs exluded, you are on the road to ruin. Their brand of hard headed business practice may work in the shady dealings of distressed debt but has no place in what is basically a community asset.

I agree on a couple of points above SBJ, but where are you getting the £70m debt figure from?

WM

Appleton and SISUE themselves unless it is just more bullshit.

Management fees of 2.5m over 6 years is 15m. That is nearly 25% of the 70m debt.

1.2m interest payable to SISUE a year interest payment. 7m.

So there is 22m before anything to do with our club has happened........like legal charges, wages for the muppets they keep putting in charge of our club, high wages for poor players they gave big contracts to........

Possibly not all Hedge funds are bad, but there is no doubt in my mid SISU have been very bad indeed for football in Coventry and it may well get worse.

How about this definition:

Hedge Fund Activism For Dummies said:
Remember: Hedge funds don’t engage in activism because they’re good guys – far from it! Hedge-fund activists want to buy the shares of a company because they think those shares are cheap. If all goes well, and the judicious application of lobbying, legal threats, PR campaigns and the occasional whiff of mental intimidation(!) pays off, the firm’s shares increase in value substantially.
