"we tried to get bodies in, but to no joy"
"the lads have doen well pre season"
"the academy kids are ready"
"O'Donovan deserves a place in the team"
yadda yadda
What's yadda yadda? What would you like him to say?
We have secured Craine and CLingan on long term deals, so they are not going anywhere on a free next season....
We have also offered long term deals to all of the kids.........
McPake is on a pay as you play deal
Bell has agreed to a drop in wages
We cant afford to get anyone at the mo, so we are looking for a loan or two...
We are short on numbers, so the kids will play, give them your support as they are the future
I wouldnt be too unhappy about that !.
....................
Instead we get the "looking to get more bodies in", "wont be held to ransom", "we wont lie down"...just spin and cliche...
Yeah, I noticed you complained about not enough bodies for the starting 11 and then complained about Bell (who looked quality in the new formation at the end of last season under AT) and McPake getting new deals to keep them at the club. Two players we paid a fee for and, therefore, is actually sensible by the board to get them tied down just in case.
As for the match on Saturday. I'm going to make a little sportmans bet with you we don't get spanked (I think you might have said 4-1 in another thread). If I'm wrong then fair enough, I'll hold my hands up, but I personally don't think our starting 11 is THAT bad. I also think these new Leicester players are completely overrated: Danns, Nugent, St Ledger, Schmeichel, Konchesky and that Fernandes they've just signed. No doubt, Leicester DO have a stronger first 11 and squad than us, I'm not kidding myself, but I think our first 11 can compete with anyone, especially under Thorns style.
All of them been offered new contracts? From Player:
Thorn:
Bell & McPake signed this morning.
Everyone else who is out of contract has been offered a new contract, hopeful of them all signing.
Bell has been a revelation since Thorn took over, has a lot more to come.
McPake broke his back but should be OK now.
Murphy:
Enjoyable start to City career, knew a couple of the lads before.
Knew we were interested for a couple of years, but only knew we were had bid the day before he signed.
Says he's a "big presence" and "loud on the pitch" hopes to play well and has big shoes to fill in Westwood, but he has his own qualities.
Oggy is a "legend", a "good guy" and easy to work with, lots to learn from him.
Leicester is a big game, but one we can win.
That's about it.
All of them been offered new contracts?
Even the likes of Platt and Eastwood?
EDIT: Also anything on new signings?
That's what he said. I'd imagine that Platt and McSheffrey are not among those because they've only just had their extensions.
Nothing on the Player video certainly.

We have this debate with every manager the club has. People have to accept that football people speak in cliches and not make out that the current manager is a c*nt every time he opens his gob.
McSheffrey's expires at the end of the season though doesn't it? I f*cking hope they have offered him a new deal!
