I was going mad on twitter yesterday with this petetion and got a fair few retweets from sports journalists and supporters/fans groups.

I also put it on "not606.com" however it is waiting for moderation (been waiting over 24 hours now!)

Tried bristol city, but it appears their main supporters forum you have to pay for!

Just posted on notts county forum today.

Sorry mate, my bad on both fronts...I didn't remember that it was your idea. Sorry!

As for their fans, it's a shame they see it like that. It wasn't us fans that didn't vote in their favour. Hey ho, each to their own. Good luck to them but I guess we add them to the 'Sunderland' list.

I love the fact that 'Skyblue' has copied my bit from the Saints forum and not even taken my 'WM' initials off the bottom. Plagiarism!

Absolutely great stuff everyone!

A couple of people have asked about duplication of effort. I'm setting off for Bristol in a while and am struggling for time so...First, could someone do an excel sheet with a list of all 92 clubs which I could then put on the kcic website and people could put their names against which other clubs fans' forums they've contacted. Second, could someone post on here the wording they've used on other forums so City fans willing to do the same don't have to reinvent the wheel. If it's of any use, the wording for the leaflet aimed at other fans is:

Without Fans there is no Football!

● Football is our national game but the interests of fans are being disregarded – inflated ticket prices, club colours and even names being changed
● The game’s governing bodies are failing to address the situation
● Government action is needed
● We want a Parliamentary Select Committee to undertake an Inquiry into one particular club, Coventry City (we have been relocated from the City of Coventry to Northampton, 35 miles away), to highlight problems faced across the game and show the need for action

Please sign the Without Fans there is no Football epetition at

Not sure exactly who you do it but maybe someone on the forum will know - you can save a spreadsheet to google and make it shareable - that way people could edit but a check next to clubs that have been done etc... A living document of sorts.

Michael, the below is what I've used on the forums I've contacted. Obviously needs a little tweeking per club as mentioned Saints on the Pompey forum wouldn't do me any favours. I'm on my lunchbreak so will knock up a spreadsheet and mail it over to you.

Good afternoon gents (and any ladies on board),

Apologies for crashing your forum but we're after the support of fans up and down the country. You might be aware of or situation...owned by SISU (or whatever they call themselves this week), we're currently playing 'home' games 34 miles from the Ricoh. The owners of the Ricoh (a set up called ACL - owned half by a charity and half by Coventry City Council) have said they'll let us play there rent free for 3 years whilst we build a new stadium. Our owners, for reasons unbeknown to anyone sensible, have said no to this. Plans to build a new stadium were due to be with us but as yet, nothing. The owners say they're in active discussions with 2 boroughs about land for a new stadium. Fans have contacted all local boroughs and none say there's any discussions going on. And there's no gaurantee that any new stadium will be built in Coventry. All a bit of a mess and unfortunately, the fans suffer.

Cov fans are boycotting home games this season...our attendances are our lowest ever recorded, bar some crappy cup game against Millwall in the 80's. Away though, our fans are travelling strong...we took 7,500 to MK Dons just before Xmas....as many as home fans on that day and you might have seen our protests during BT Sports recent coverage of our cup game away at Arsenal.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHKTX34HnGQ

We're started an online petition to try and raise 100,000 signatures in order to try and enforce a House of Commons Select Committee grilling of all parties involved in our downfall (and there's a few). We hope that this won't only shed light on who is to blame for our situation, but provide some transparency for the powers the rule the game, to effectively manage club ownership and stop situations like ours, Hulls, Cardiffs, Lutons, Rangers etc etc.

Saints fans have been great to us over the past few years....clubs of relatively similar stature with you narrowly (luckily) missing out on SISU ownership and instead getting Markus Liebherr to invest. Please could you sign the attached petition? It will take 2 minutes, you won't get junk mail and you'll hopefully assist with a better environment for fans of football.

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/59884

We need about 400 signatures from every professional club in England and Scotland as well as 50,000 from our fans. Please do share.

Thanks all,

WM

Just a quick job, put a column for different types of social media so people can check them off. Anyone can edit or if you want me to change something and don't know how let me know.

Good work shmmeee. At work, my IE doesn't support it so will look at home tonight. Could you pop my name against Southampton, Portsmouth and Everton?

Changed it so the top row is frozen if that's alright. Makes for easier reading down in the lower leagues.

WM I put your name next to them

Put my name against the ones I have already done. Also done a lot of sports journos and fan groups. I dont mind sticking to twitter if others prefer the forums or vice a versa.

Good work fella.

I know a number of clubs have multiple forums like ourselves. Might be worth people naming the forum as the tick it off, just in case the most popular forum of certain clubs is missed.

I've posted it on 2 Leicester boards but you lot giving us grief over admin has come back to bite you on the arse, not many willing to sign at all.
Most boards probably don't even have 400 members let alone 400 that will sign up.
Not sure you'll find 50,000 of your own if you're only at 6000 or so at the moment, including a few hundred from other clubs.

Still you've got to give it a go.

Good luck

Thanks for trying, at least. With regard to getting grief over admin, I don't think you can complain too much - it did screw a lot of people over, and have an impact beyond your borders.

In fact, I think it was one of the reasons the original builders of the Ricoh arena pulled out - football suddenly became a very risky business. Regardless, I'm over it now, and you're not exactly the only club to have taken this route!

btw, I think it's very nice that your U21's can pop over from time to time and see what it's like to play in a proper football stadium. Admittedly it's a bit quiet and empty, but then that will prepare them for what awaits on matchday if they make your senior squad. ;)

(Sorry, couldn't resist. Fwiw, I really rather liked Filbert St too - though like us you do seem to have your fair share of Neanderthals. I miss the old grounds, especially ours.)

Can't quite believe this is still no. 1 trending petition! Nature of these things is there'll be peaks and troughs but this is an absolutely fantastic start

Better believe it Michael...it's happening! We're only 6.5% of the way though...we need to keep the momentum up.

Nick - can we have a sticky - Official Petition Thread?

WM

Also, how about all those engaged in the never ending Sisu v ACL debate....(which incidentally, is not only tedious, but utterly pointless) take one day out from repeating the same old shite on different threads & spread the word instead....

....just a thought. :D

Think I've just seen a pig fly over Shergar and a pink elephant outside of my window.

Totally agree though!

How about organising a stall in Broadgate, have IPads or petition slips to sign people up there and then. That's the best way to get the people of Coventry involved.
